Work Text:
Jealousy isn't a trait Stan felt a lot. But today was different.
He didn't wake up to Bill knocking on his door.
He felt something was out of place so he ran to Bill’s house.
His knocks were met by Richie opening the door.
“What's up Stan the man?” Richie leered.
Stan seemed confused.
“Where’s Bill?” Stan questioned.
Bill walked to the door whispering something to Richie. Richie walked off and Bill stood at the door.
“Hey!” Bill exclaimed happily.
“I- Oh I was just surprised not to wake up to your knock on my door,” Stan muttered trying to keep his cool.
Was Bill hanging out with Richie rather than him?
“I invited Richie over since we're all hanging out tuh-today I thought it was- it was fine. Wanna come in?” Bill asked.
“No, it's fine I should get going,” Stan answered quickly.
Stan ran off before Bill could say anything.
“Is he alright?” Richie asked as Bill walked into the kitchen.
“I duh-don't know. He seemed weird. I always go oh-over to his house in the morn-mourning. I just- I just guess I feel bad." Bill whispered.
“Hey, don't get sad he will see you today. Besides, when you're sad your stutter gets worse.” Richie joked trying to lighten the mood.
“Wow, Richie I cuh-can always duh-depend on you to make me feel better.” Bill mocked with a straight face.
Richie nodded as he laughed. All Bill could think about was Stan.
Meanwhile, Stan was home thinking of why he felt this pain in his chest. Why did Richie and Bill hanging out make him angry? Bill doesn't have to go to Stan’s house all the time.
Stan decided to try and think about something else. Just until the hangout. He didn't have much to do until the hangout. He just sat there watching the clock that hung on his wall. He watched as the clock clicked, clicked, clicked. Wait for it to hit that desired time.
When it hit time he should start getting up and ready he found that he didn't want to. It was weird. He hated how long it took but now it was here he didn't want to. He forced himself up.
Bill was getting ready with Richie.
“I juh-just feel bad,” Bill mentioned again.
Richie groaned. “That's your eighth time saying that. You're doing this for the best. You don't want to ruin your guy's friendship right?” Riche asked.
Bill nodded.
The reason Bill didn't wake up and go straight to the Uris residence was that he couldn't deny his feelings anymore. Bill was falling for Stanley Uris and he couldn't stop. But if he told Stan and he rejected him then group hangouts would be weird. He didn't want that.
“Why aren't you getting ready with Stan? Why did you choose Richie?” Georgie sneered jokingly.
“Love you too Georgie Porgie.” Richie teased.
“Um- he was buh-busy.” Bill lied.
“I'm eleven not stupid. My door is open and you guys talk loud. Bill, you go over to his house every day, all day. It's obvious that he likes you too.” Georgie commented.
“You duh-dont know that!” Bill interjected.
Georgie hummed in disagreement as he walked away with a glass of orange juice. Richie nodded in agreement with Georgie.
“Let's just get ready! Also, choose a side. Are you for it or not?” Bill jokes.
Richie snatched his keys off of the kitchen table and they made their way to the car.
Richie drove them to the quarry. The place they always meet up at.
“Make sure you don't look his way, don't talk to him, and most definitely get near him.” Richie reminded Bill before they got out.
“So act like he's not there?” Bill asked and Richie nodded.
This was gonna be impossible for Bill.
Stanley pulled up a few moments later.
When everyone was in the water Stan noticed that Bill was acting differently.
“What's up with you?” Mike asked Stan.
”Nothing.” Stan answered because he didn't understand either.
“Bill and you aren't clinging on to each other like normal. Are the love birds in a fight?” Mike mocked.
“Love birds? What are you talking about Mike? Also were not in a fight… I don't think so?” Stan questioned everything he had done yesterday.
“Come on. It's so obvious you guys are in love with each other. Did you do something?” Mike asked.
“I don't know,” Stan answered.
“Just go ask him what you did. I can't stand you staring at Richie like your gonna kill him.” Mike reported.
“But everyone looks at Richie like they wanna kill him-” Stan started but was soon cut off.
“Just go!” Mike stated as he pushed Stan.
Stan trudged through the water to Bill.
“Can we talk?” Stan asked.
Richie opened his mouth but was cut off.
“Sure,” Bill whispered.
Richie rolled his eyes as they walked away.
They sat on some rocks.
“Did I do something yesterday? I can't recall doing anything but I must have because you can't even look my way.” Stan remarked stressed in some kind of way.
He can't tell why he's so mad. Maybe it's Richie's stupid mocking face but he needed Bill to be with him every waking moment to feel fine.
“Nothing happened yesterday. I'm not mad.” Bill answers.
“I don't believe you. Tell me the truth.” Stan requested.
“Where is this cuh-coming from?” Bill asked.
“It- I don't know. You're not acting the same.” Stan muttered.
“What do you mean ‘im not acting the same?’ you're the one acting duh-different,” Bill exclaimed.
Bill got up and tried to walk away.
Stan grabbed onto his wrist.
“I don't know what's going on but if I'm not with you it doesn't feel right.” Stan blurted out.
“What doesn't feel right?” Bill asked.
“I don't feel right!” Stan exclaimed.
Stan has always been scared of talking about his feelings. He's actually scared of everything but Bill helps. He helps in ways others can't.
Bill didn't think he just grabbed Stan and kissed him. Stan stood there then pulled back. Bill didn't know what to say. He just walked away. He acted unbothered but he was the opposite.
The day went on. Everyone saw what happened but nobody talked about it. The group split up since the weather decided to rain.
Bill laid on his bed thinking of what he had done. The dark rainy night reminded him of how he felt.
Why would he do that?
He was interrupted by his brother.
“Someone’s at the door for you. You better run they’re soaked.” Georgie laughed.
Bill ran to the door.
“Stuh-Stan, Wuh-What are you duh-doing here?” Bill asked, his stuttering becoming ten times worse.
“I don't know. I- Um my feet just carried me here.” Stan quivered.
“Get inside. Are you stupid? It's pouring. Why didn't you just drive?” Bill desperately asked as he dragged Stan in.
“I don't know. I don't really know anything but I'm firm on this.” Stan stated as he clashed his lips onto Bill's lips.
He quickly pulled back trying to see Bill’s reaction. Bill smiled.
“You’re really cheesy.” Bill laughed.
Stan dipped his head down with a tiny laugh.
Bill grabbed Stan’s hand and took him to his room.
He offered another set of clothes which were way more comfortable than the now soaking clothes.
Stan laid on Bill still trying to figure out what he did.
“Did I really do that?” Stan questions.
“You have asked me to recite the story ten times. It hasn't changed.” Bill whispered playing with Stan’s hair.
“That's so weird. ‘I don't really know anything but I'm firm on this.’ that's really cheesy.” Stan reported.
“Odd, I said the same thing.” Bill laughed.
Georgie appeared in the doorway.
“What's up, Georgie?” Bill asked.
Stan turned his head to see Georgie.
“I can't sleep,” Georgie whispered as tears fell.
“Come here buddy,” Bill remarked as he patted the spot next to him.
Nothing new to these boys. Georgie has always had nightmares.
Georgie hobbles on the other side of Bill. Bill strokes Stan and Georgie's hair as if nothing in this entire world was wrong. Everything was completely wonderful.
