Work Text:

It was the day of Nancy and Robin's wedding, and everything was going according to place. From the background, the wedding march was playing quietly. Nancy was wearing a dark grey pantsuit (she and Robin both decided to wear pantsuits instead of gowns), her now mid-back length hair falling in waves. Despite herself she was nervous, absently tapping her foot on the marble floor. Then the door opened and Nancy's breath caught in her throat as she beheld her fiancée. Robin was wearing a navy blue pantsuit, her blonde hair styled in a French bob.

"Hi." Robin said timidly as she stood before Nancy.

"H-hi." Nancy stuttered. "You- you look so beautiful."

"Aww, thank you." Robin joked, but she was blushing. Soon the facilitator arrived. After a few words of welcome and acknowledgement, it was time for their vows. Nancy decided to go first.

"Robin," Nancy began, "when I first saw you at Starcourt, I never thought that we'd become acquaintances, let alone friends. I thought after that fiasco in the mall, you'd bail. But then I learned more about you, how that you're more than just a pretty face, and I slowly but surely began to fall in love with you. And now... Now we're here, and I wouldn't have it any other way."

Robin cleared her throat.

"Nance, when I first met you, I was terrified of you. Trust me; you're scary as hell." Robin assured the brunette as she raised one eyebrow.

"Anyway yeah. I was terrified of how you would react if I came out to you. I mean no offense to Hawkins in general but, we're not exactly the most open-minded when it comes to sexuality.

"But when you embraced me wholeheartedly, when you didn't judge, it was the best thing that has happened to me. But then my crush on you developed and it was another roller-coaster for me again. And then you said yes when I asked you to be my girlfriend, then my wife... I still can't believe it. "

A beat, then the declaration of intent.

"Do you, Nancy Wheeler, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, to comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"

"I do." Nancy said firmly.

"And do you, Robin Buckley, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in matrimony, to love her, to comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, to have and to hold, from this day forward, as long as you both shall live?"

"I do." Robin said. The rings were brought out, two simple identical silver bands.

"Nancy and Robin have chosen rings to exchange as a symbol of their unending love."

The officiant turned to Nancy.

"As you place this ring on Robin's finger, please repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever."

Nancy took Robin's hand as she gently slid the ring on Robin's finger. "With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever."

"Robin, as you place this ring on Nancy's finger, please repeat after me. With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever."

"With this ring, I thee wed and pledge you my love now and forever." Robin said as she put the ring on Nancy's ring finger, her hand slightly shaking.

"By the authority vested in me by the State of California, I now pronounce you wife and wife."

Nancy pulled Robin close to kiss her, and the whole room erupted in cheers.

"Well, we've done it." Nancy breathed out, and Robin chuckled.

"That we have."
