[Old version] The Caged Bird and The Monkey

Summary:

They’re a bunch of lairs, Thieves, and murders. Then what would that make her if she was one of them. Weiss has had that thought ever since she was born.(Big note: I am planning on writing this. Making bigger changes instead of literally copy what they said in the episode. my original parts are going to stay the same with changes to flow and feel better. I should have worked on it more and posted it much later.)

Notes:

Don’t own Rwby and Wrote this on a phone.
Edit: I might rewrite this later. Don’t know.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Weiss woke up early on a Friday morning, with her back aching badly. She still wasn’t use to the beds at Beacon despite being there for a few weeks so it was a daily occurrence. She moved out of bed slowly, carefully trying to not hurt her back, but made a painful grunting sound as she stood up. “Weiss,” Ruby yawned looking at their shared alarm clock “it’s 5:30. Why are you-.”

“I just woke up early because I have to use the bathroom,” Weiss said “I don’t think that squab agreed with me. Just go back to sleep.” Weiss didn’t finish her sentence because the moment Ruby closed her eyes, she fell back to sleep. Weiss quickly grabbed a pair of clothes she was going to wear, her shampoo, conditioner, a towel, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a few other things like a hairdryer. Then walked outside her dorm and quickly to the single bathroom. She was glad there were a few of them in her hall as she didn’t like using public shower.

Weiss took a deep breath in and began to undress herself. As she pulled up her pajamas over her head and a pair a beautiful large snow white wings showed themselves in the mirror as Weiss gave an exhale of air. A few white feathers came out as well but were quickly gathered up. Weiss was a faunus, one with beautiful snow white wings on her back. She starred in the mirror and looked at herself moving her wings slightly to stretch them out and move them like stretching limbs. She had mixed feelings about them. They were her wings, they were beautiful, she wanted to fly away with them. She felt more comfortable with them exposed than them tucked away in her clothes. Having them exposed felt like this meant she could properly breath and stand. But she was a faunus, a group of people that attack her company regularly and made it a living hell for her father. They were nothing but scoundrels. But if she was one, what would that make her if she was one. She wished she was born human. It would mean her father, Jacque Schnee, would hate her less.

Well, he wasn’t really Weiss father at all. Weiss was a literal bastard, born out of an affair between her mother a faunus huntsman she doesn’t even know the name of. The only reason she was kept around was to hide the affair and because she was a Schnee by blood, something Jacque would never be. She had to hide her wings, because she want to uphold the Schnee Dust Company reputation and is it was revealed she was a bastard it would leave a horrible mark on them. It would also mean her fathers reputation would also be damaged if she showed them off, and he reminded her of that daily. She didn’t have a good relation with him. She had heard him threaten to have her thrown out into the street or cut the wings off a lot when she was a kid, but her mother and grandfather threatened him back with something that would ruin him worse if he had tried.

No one knew she was a faunus outside of her family and a few servants. Not even her teammates knew and she refused to let them know. She often wore special clothing to make it look she she didn’t have wings, but they were uncomfortable at best and painful at worse. Even her uniform was specially made it this. When she was back home she had to stand around for hour on end at parties and events, wanting to stretch and move her wings around, but her father wouldn’t allow it and it will look bad if she left in the middle of the event. She was only allowed to have her wings out in her room but it was too small to fly. She had done it a few times in her life, the last time was when her grandfather made a special dress when she was 12 that allowed her to actually stretch her wings and fly for a bit while still wearing something comfortable. But her father had it burned and forbade her from ever flying. She was a caged bird after all, there to look beautiful.

Her mother, brother, sister, and even her own grandfather loved her despite being a bastard and faunus. But Jacque Schnee hated her with every ounce of his blood. She was still a Schnee and had more of a right to the Schnee Dust Company than he ever did. Even in her grandfathers will, it stated she was to inherit the company if she chooses once Jacque retires. Jacque has been fighting it, but to no luck.

Wiess continued to get undress and turned on the shower, waiting for it to heat up. Even if she hide her wing, she had to take care of them. She carefully got them wet, shaking her wings a bit while doing so while washing her hair and body carefully. After stepping out of the shower, she shook her wing to get as much water out of them. She then grabbed a towel and hairdryer to help dry her wings and long white hair.

It took 15 minutes for her to fully dry herself and her wings. When she was done, she took a deep breath in and folded her wings back onto her back, carefully making sure she wouldn’t bend one of them into an uncomfortable position while try to hide them as she put on her school uniform. She was lucky it was just uncomfortable and not painful like the dresses her father insists on her wearing when she would sing and for events. She stood up straight,  and starred at the mirror adjusting her wings slightly and smiled. She looked like a normal human girl, like she was supposed to be.

Later that day, after a long Friday of classes team RWBY walked through the streets of Vale as they were getting ready for the Vytal festival. Streamer were being hung alongside signs saying “WELCOME TO VALE” or “Vytal festival sale” on the shops.

“The Vytal Festival! Oh, this is absolutely wonderful!” Weiss said in awe of them preparing for the Vytal festival. Careful not to get too excited as her faunus traits often move depending on her emotions. She had tucked them into her dress while her jacket hide them from public view. It was one of her more comfortable clothes she had. She could theoretically pull her wings out, though it was still difficult and uncomfortable. It was more or less a retaliation to her father as he didn’t know it allowed that.

“I don’t think I’ve have seen you smile this much,” Ruby said “it’s kinda freaking me out.”

“Why wouldn’t you smile,” Weiss said turning towards her team while trying to keep her wings in check “the Vytal festival is dedicated to the cultures of the world. Parades, dances, people coming from across the world into one spot for the tournament. The amount of planning for this event is incredible. They must have been planning this since the end of the last festival.”

“You could say you’re excited and not try it sound boring,” Yang said.

“Quiet you,” Weiss said back as they walked closer towards the dock. She could hear the workman and sailors bring a board  and taking thing off ships thank to her being an owl faunus. It was incredible strong, strong enough to even detect heartbeats and breathing from a close difference and even the different foot step of the people on the boats, but she still had to be careful. If she responds to something far away it might reveal what she is.

“Remind me. Why we are spending our afternoon at the docks,” Yang said plugging her noise because of the smell of fish. Ruby did a similar thing while complaining about the smell.

“I heard that students from Vacuo will be arriving soon,” Weiss said “and as a representative of beacon, I feel like it’s my duty to welcome them to this fine kingdom.”

“You wants to spy them to gain an upper hand in the tournament,” Blake said.

“You can’t prove anything,” Weiss defensively said.

“Well that’s Boring with a capital B,” Yang said turning around to walk away “I’m not interested in knowing who they are. I’m going to check out some shops. See you later.”

“Some of them might be attractive,” Weiss said as an incentive.

“And I am interested now,” Yang smiled turning back to walk with them. But Weiss started to hear something going around a corner, but didn’t call it out as they would soon see it.

“Whoa,” Ruby said in surprise. It was a literal crime scene, police tap and all. They saw a dust shop with its windows broken into and police searching the area. “What happened here?”

“Robbery,” said a detective walking to his partner, answering her question “Second dust shop this week. This place is turning into a mess house.”

“This is terrible,” Yang said.

“They left all the money again,” said the other detective. This caught Ruby’s attention as she stopped a similar incident a bit before arriving at Beacon.

“Yeah, just doesn't make any sense,” the first detective said “Who needs that much Dust?”

“I don't know, an army?” The second one said.

“You thinking the White Fang?” When he said White Fang, it made Weiss gripped her fist tightly. She just hated them as much as her father hated her. Her wings wanted to move in anger, but she got them under control.

“Yeah, I'm thinking we don't get paid enough.”

“What an awful bunch of degenerates,” Weiss said, nearly growling. She felt her wings move slightly as she said it, like they wanted to rip through her dress. She had gotten good at controlling them and making sure no one found out. Even around Ruby being childish she kept them under control, but this nearly made her reveal herself.

“What’s your problem,” Blake said to her angry.

“My problem?” Weiss said barely keeping her wings under control “I simply don't care for the criminally insane.”

“The White Fang is hardly a bunch of psychopaths. They’re misguided.”

“Misguided!” Weiss said raising her voice “They want to wipe Humanity, all four of us. Why would you defend that?”

“Then they’re really misguided. Either way, it doesn’t explain why they would rob a Dust shop in the middle of downtown Vale!”

“Blake’s got a point,” Ruby said, making Weiss calm down “the police never caught that Torchwick guy I ran into a few months ago, Maybe it was him.”

“That still doesn't change the fact that the White Fang are a bunch of scum,” Wiess said to them with anger in her voice and wings wanting to move “Those Faunus only know how to lie, cheat, and steal.” This only made Blake more angry.

But they’re thoughts were broken when a a sailor yelled “stop that faunus.” The four girls quickly rushed towards the place where the sailor yelled to see a blonde faunus with a monkey’s tail running, jumping, and dodging the sailor trying to grab him. He quickly rushed down the length of the boat.

“Thanks for the ride fellas,” He said jumping onto the docks still running.

“You no good stowaway,” yelled a sailor
The faunus jumped onto a street lamp, the.

Using his tail to hang from it “no good? I didn’t get caught I’m a great stowaway.” He took a banana out of his jacket, peeling it, then dropping the peel on a sailor while laughing. Once he finished, which was quick, he pulled himself up, jumped off and started to run past  the four girls.

“Well Weiss,” Yang said looking at him run fast “you wanted to see the competition, and there he goes.”

“Quickly,” Weiss said giving chase “we have to observe him.” Weiss began to listen carefully for his movements, he was fast but she could hear where he was going. But the moment Weiss turned the corner, she ran into a red haired girl knocking the two of them over. Weiss didn’t even hear breathing or even a heartbeat from her at all. It freaked her out for a second and assumed she was too focused on fallowing the faunus. She looked up and saw him start jumping onto a fire escape and onto a roof, not looking back once.

“You’re not getting away that easily,” Weiss said quickly hoping up and giving chase to the faunus. Her team watched as she did this, until she was out of their view into an alleyway, then they starred down at the girl she knocked over.

“Salutations,” the girl smiled while laying on the ground spooking Ruby, Blake and Yang. Meanwhile, Weiss continued to chase down the Faunus. She could hear him jumping from rooftop to rooftop thanks to her owl like hearing. She could tell he was going in a straight line towards the center of the city. She turned around a few corners and alleyways, using her semblance to make a platform to jump over fence if she need to.

After a bit of her chasing him without him knowing, he finally landed on the ground. “Oh man, can’t wait for Neptune and the gang to hear about this,” the faunus chuckled to himself.

“You,” Weiss said turning out of an alleyway and speed walking up to him.

“Woh, you track me,” the faunus smiled and turned towards her “didn’t expect that from you.”

“Are you participating in the Vytal festival  for Vacuo?” Weiss said.

“Straight the point no introduction wanted,” he smiled “Yeah I am, the names Sun Wukong but I’m actually participating for Mistral. And you must the famous Weiss Schnee the princess of Dust.”

“Heiress of the Schnee Dust Company,” Weiss corrected him.

“Same thing,” Sun said “so is that the only question because I have more fun things to do.”

“No, I have a few more like why were you a stowaway,” Weiss said “did your teammates did the same thing? Or are you lying about participating in Vytal festival, criminal.”

“I was a stowaway for fun,” he said pulling out his Scroll to show his identity as a huntsman in training. It showed his name, his school, his grade, and what team he was on, SSSN. It was hard to fake one of those, but she still didn’t fully trust him. “My team are on their way here, but I want to have some fun. I could have waited to leave with my team but I wanted to get a head start before them.”

“Do you know that’s illegal?” Weiss said pointing a finger in his face.

“I want to live a little,” he said putting his hands behind his head “I only snuck aboard, I didn’t hurt anyone. you should learn how to that snow bird.” They way he said, made Weiss think he knew something about her. It wasn’t like Jaune who was just an idiot trying to compliment her.

“There she is,” Ruby said putting away her scroll and running up to them with the redhead she accidentally ran into. Ruby found her because their scrolls showed where each of their team members were on a local map.

“You just ran off after him, you forgot to say sorry,” Yang said.

“Salutation,” the Red head said “My name is Penny.”

“Sorry I ran into you, I truly mean it. I was too busy chasing after this rapscallion,” Weiss pointed to Sun who just waved “I’m Weiss Schnee.”

“Why did you just run off after him? Is it because you find him attractive.” Yang  said raising and lowering her eyebrows. Weiss only glared at Yang and didn’t answer her question.

“How did you chase after him?” Blake asked.

“I have my methods in figuring out where people are going. And I needed to question the filthy Faunus,” Weiss said point at Sun.

“Oh got it kettle,” Sun smiled “names pot want some tea?” Weiss just growled loudly to this while trying to keep her wings in check. But each thing about him want her to rip clothes with her wings.“Well, I’m sorry for not answering all your questions but I got to bounce, catch you later.” He jumped back onto a fire escape with ease, than onto the rooftop running away very quickly.

“That faunus is annoying,” Weiss growled then turning towards Penny “Penny, you’re here to participate in the festival too Right?” Penny gave a quick nod while smiling. “Do you know anything about that rapscallion.”

“Will you stop that,” Blake yelled to the surprise of the group “stop calling him filth, stop calling rapacallion. Stop calling him a faunus, he’s a person.”

“Oh, I'm sorry,” Weiss said trying to control her wings “Would you like me to stop referring to the trash can as a trash can? Or that window as a window?” Weiss knew she was one of them, but venom was still in her voice.

“Stop it!” Blake yelled loudly, drawing a few people attention.

“Stop what? He broke the law. For all we know he’s a White Fang spy.”

“You ignorant little brat!” Blake said wanting to punch her in the face with all her might.

“Excuse me!” Weiss said offended “I am your teammate!”

“You are a judgmental, little girl.” Blake said want to cuss her with every word she knew. Yang and Ruby felt uncomfortable as their team continued to yell at each other, even drawing more attention to themselves.

“Um, I think we should probably go,” Yang said with Ruby nodding quickly. But the two argument didn’t stop as they continued to just argue all they way back and even in their dorm room. Neither Ruby nor Yang wanted to get involved in the argument nor could they.

“I don't understand why this is causing such a problem!” Weiss yelled barely in control of her wings. But they were still hidden from her teammates.

“That is the problem!” Blake yelled back.

“You realize you are defending an organization that hates Humanity, don't you? The Faunus of the White Fang nothing but pure evil!” Weiss said almost through her teeth.

“There's no such thing as pure evil,” Blake said “Why do you think they hate Humanity so much? It's because of people like Cardin, people like you, that force the White Fang to take such drastic measures!”

“People like me?” Weiss wanted dearly to show her wings to prove a point, but she stopped herself. It wouldn’t prove anything to Blake but the she is a faunus.

“You're discriminatory!”

“I'm a victim!” Weiss took a few breath in to calm herself down “do you want to know why I despise the White Fang? Why I don't particularly trust the Faunus? It's because they've been at war with my family for years. War, as in actual bloodshed. My grandfather's company has had a target painted across its back for as long as I can remember. And ever since I was a child, I've watched family friends disappear; board members executed; entire train car full of Dust, stolen. And every day, my father would come home, furious. And that hate would wind up on me. That made for a very difficult childhood.”

“Weiss, I-,” Ruby said trying to calm her teammate down. But Weiss just put a hand in her face.

“No!” Weiss said “You want to know why I despise the White Fang? Why I hate what I am. It's because they're a bunch of liars, thieves, and murderers!”

“Well maybe we were just tired of being pushed around!” Blake regretted what she said, but could never take it back. Weiss immediately realized what she had said and what it meant. Blake didn’t know what to do next, then just ran.

“Blake, wait!” Ruby said rushing to the door but Blake was already gone. Yang sat down on a bed with her head in her hands. Weiss had dozens of emotions going through her head, Blake was a faunus. But she hid that fact from her like she did. Weiss tried to justify anyway she could, she did hear say she was apart of the White Fang and tried to defend them. But it was an empty feeling trying to do so.

“Wait a minute,” Yang said looking up at Weiss “you said you hate what you are. Are you also a faunus?”

“You miss heard me,” Weiss said grabbing a few things for the shower and her pajamas.

“I heard that too,” Ruby said checking her Scroll to find Blake, but she had already turn it off.

“Then you both miss heard!” Weiss yelled angrily heading towards the shower. She continued to walk towards the single showers opening it to reveal no one and slamming the door shut and locking it. She took off her jacket, then zipped her dress so she could unfold her wings. She breath heavily when she saw them and remembered what she had said. She gripped her fist tightly, almost breaking her skin and making her bleeding. Her tears roll down her face. But she was too lost in thought to notice that happening. Ruby talking through the door broke her thought and brought her to reality.

“Weiss, can we talk,” Ruby said knocking on the door. Weiss just ignored her.

“Ok so we miss heard you, we still need to find Blake,” Yang said.

“You heard what she said,” Weiss said trying to hold back her tears “besides Blake’s a big girl she can take care of herself. We don’t need to parent her.”

“Come on Ruby,” Yang said “Blake won’t do anything stupid. We will check first thing tomorrow morning.” Weiss then took a few more deep breaths in before continuing to undress and walking into the shower. She couldn’t tell the difference between the water hitting her face and her tears. She just sat down in the middle of the shower grabbing her legs tightly and wrapping her wings around herself. She took an extra long shower that night.

The next morning, her team went out looking for Blake but with no luck. But they weren’t going to stop until they found her. They continued their search on Sunday, calling out her name and asking anyone if they saw her. But Weiss remained quiet.

“Weiss, you’re not helping,” Ruby said.

“Oh I know who would help,” Weiss said before her tone turned venomous “the police.”

“Ugh, Weiss,” Ruby groaned.

“It was just an idea.”

“Yeah, a bad one.”

“Weiss, I think we should hear her side of the story before we jump to any conclusions,” Yang said to her.

“I think that we hear what she said,” Weiss said back to Yang “when will you all realize I was right!”

“I remembering what you said back in the dorm” Yang said back “and she is still our friend.”

“And I think Weiss hair looks wonderful,” said Penny surprising the group. Weiss was the most freaked out because like on Friday, she couldn’t hear her breathing or a heartbeat. It was like she was a corpse except not rotting.

“Penny! Where did you come from?” Ruby said surprised.

“Hello Friends! What are you up to?” Penny smiled, ignoring Ruby question.

“We're looking for our friend Blake,” Yang said.

“Ooooh, you mean the Faunus girl that isn’t Weiss!” Penny said. Weiss knew what she meant by other. Yang and Ruby both looked back and forth between Weiss and Penny.

“Wait, how did you know that?” Ruby asked.

“Uhh, the cat ears?” Penny smiled while pointing to her head.

“What cat ears?” Yang said before realizing it “She wears a bow.” The revelation hit the team hard, it was obvious to them all. They all should have realized it sooner.

“She does like tuna a lot,” Ruby said to the revelation.”

“Wait then, how do you know Weiss is a faunus,” Yang said “even Weiss hadn’t figured that out.”

“I am not a faunus,” Weiss snarled.

“Then why do you have wings?” Penny asked.

“Weiss, just stop trying to hide it,” Yang said in annoyance.

“I have to hide it,” Weiss said to her face so only she could hear “what do you think will happen if it revealed. I am a walk scandal in the making.”

“Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t know you wanted that to be a secret,” Penny apologized “my lips out sealed.”

“Ok me and Ruby won’t tell a soul either,” Yang said “but only if you help us find Blake.”

“Fine,” Weiss said as she and Yang walked away leaving Ruby with Penny as they talked for a moment. They began to search on their own, enter shops to ask for any information but to no luck. All while going on, Weiss was thinking everything over. The biggest was what she said on Friday, She tried to justify over and over in her head. But she knew she couldn’t. Even after Blake tried to defend the White Fang. After grabbing something light for dinner, they search multiple store to no luck and after exiting the fifth store, Yang gave a giant sigh.

“This is hopeless,” Yang said to Weiss “you really don't care if we find her, do you?”

“Don’t be an idiot,” Weiss said “of course I do. I'm just afraid of what she'll say when we find her. Innocent never run Yang.”

“Didn’t you run?” Yang said back “when Blake ran and you told us you ‘hate what you are’, your first instinct was to hide in the bathroom.”

“That’s different,” Weiss said trying to defend herself.

“Is it?” Yang said back but Weiss continued to walk away. She calmed herself down as best she could. She listen to her surroundings. She could still hear several thing from far away. It was next to impossible to hear what people are talking about that are a good distance away, but she could hear cars driving, music playing , but something caught her attention. The sounds of Bullhead engines and them landing at the docks. This caught her suspicion because she knew it wasn’t there to drop off something this close to night and wasn’t with the military.

“Yang, something is going on at the docks ,” Weiss said.

“How do you know?” Yang said.

“I have owl like hearing,” Weiss said starting to run towards the docks “someone is landing a Bullheads down there.”

“Oh, that’s sound cool,” Yang smiled at her joke “gonna fly there?”

“No shut up,” Weiss said picking up her pace. She was significantly fast the Yang, and could deduce shortcuts to take. Yang couldn’t keep up as well and lost sight of her after a few turns, it also didn’t help Yang wasn’t the best with directions. Weiss listen carefully to that direction, trying to figure out who it. Soon she was far ahead of Yang and was at the dock and couldn’t believe what she saw.

It was dozens of White Fang members with rifles in theirs hands moving crates that had the Schnee Dust logo on them. Buts she also saw Blake with her bow off and having her sword against a familiar criminal throat. She recognized who it was from the news Roman Torchwick. The White Fang had their weapons drawn at Blake, not Roman She knew the White Fang would never be caught working with any human so something was up. So many thoughts were popping in Weiss head to try and explain what was going on, but she knew at that moment Blake wasn’t with the White Fang or any criminal for that matter. But a few moments later, Roman fired his cane and Blake’s feet as a distraction. And eruption caused Blake to jump back.

Weiss did know what she was doing next. The next moment, Weiss had her sword out and thrusted it at Roman who was firing at Blake. Roman dodged and turned towards Weiss, using his cane to as a makeshift sword to parry Weiss attacks.

“Weiss?” Blake said in confusion to her appearing.

“We will talk about what happened on Friday later,” Weiss said before turning towards Roman.

“Well well well,” He said “Weiss Schnee, are you here to stop the Theft of your company’s goods?”

“I am here to help a friend,” Weiss stated as she switch to her ice dust in her weapon and was ready to activate her semblance. She trusted toward, but he dodged again and was able to get to her side to attack, but used her semblance as a makeshift shield to block his attacks. She then plundered it into the ground, able to make a lot of ice and was able to trap a leg in it.

“Oh you little brat,” he said smashing his cane against the ice and breaking it. She continued to attack but all he did was parry unti he hit her in the chest with a small explosion.

Weiss fell down on her front, but she noticed her right wing got untucked and exposed out of her jacket, it wasn’t the whole wing but enough for Roman to see it. She then felt a sharp jab in bit of her wing which made her scream in pain. It brought up a painful memory, one of her father stomping on her wings out of sheer anger.

“Oh little birdie needs to learn, not to leave  the cage,” he plunged his cane deeper in while twisting it. Weiss was afraid he would soon break a bone in it.

“Perhaps her wings need to be clipped.” Weiss the felt the worse pain she could imagine as he stomped on her wing as hard as he could, breaking her aura. It was too much pain for her to even move. Not that she could as the moment she tried, he pushed her back down with his foot.

“Get away from her,” Sun yelled jumping in to help attack Roman. He managed to move him away easily. She then saw Blake run up to her and help her up. But then noticed her exposed wing, it was actually bleeding a bit and Weiss could still feel the pain from it. She expected Blake to yell at her for being a hypocrite or questioning her for saying what she had said, but she help her to a more safe spot away from the fighting. Acting like her being a faunus was no big deal.

“Ok it’s not that bad it’s not bleeding too much and it looks like it not that bruised or broken,” Blake said examining the wound “I don’t think you need to see doctor right away but we would need to patch it up back at our dorm as soon as possible.” She then took off her scarf and began to use it to apply pressure on it. Weiss made a grunting pain as she did so, but was glad Blake was helping her. She was afraid she wouldn’t after what she said on Friday.

When she was done, Weiss physically moved her wing gently back into her dress. She tried to stand up but needed a wall to fully stand. Blake immediately jumped to her side and helped her.

“Look Weiss I’m no longer-,” Blake said trying to explain.

“Does that matter now?” Weiss said looking at the fight. She noticed Ruby running in with her scythe to attack Roman. But her wing started to ache more and forced her to collapse, she got back up immediately after. “I don’t care.”

“You don’t?” Blake said surprised.

“You said your no longer associated with them,” Weiss said standing up. She gently untucked her wing from her jacket. Not enough to let people see, but enough to let it breathe and move a bit.

“All I care about is when something big happens, you come to us. Your teammates. Not some, random person you met along the way.” Weiss looked over to try and find Sun but he went missing, but saw Ruby and Penny fighting off some of the White Fang and Penny, but mostly Penny was taking care of the problem.

But Weiss was still in too much pain, to move that much. It wasn’t just the pain hurting her, but the memories of her father doing the same thing time and time again whenever he got angry.

“Ok, is it that bad, you might need a doctor,” Blake said. Weiss didn’t like that thought.

“Just need a first aid kit,” Weiss said trying to relax her wing, she calming herself down as best as she could “him stomping on it hurt more than it looks.”

“Here,” Sun said tossing a first aid kit to Blake.

“Ok let’s do somewhere private,” Blake said helping Weiss to where no one could see them.

“Where did you get one of these?” Weiss asked.

“In the create that said first aid kits,” Sun said “they’re not just transporting dust. Weapons, armor, provisions, everything an army needs.”

“Thanks Sun,” Blake said helping Weiss around the corner away from people watching. Weiss felt Blake move her jacket off of Weiss and saw her other wing inside and how big it was. Weiss felt Blake take off the scarf being used as a bandage and started to feel her using things like rubbing alcohol of the wound, something to soak up some more blood, then a proper bandage on it. Weiss managed to turn around slightly to face Blake. While doing so she did her best to position her wing with be the best hidden. Her wing wasn’t hurt as badly and her mind was no long on her father stomping on it.

“Say it,” Weiss said.

“Say what?” Blake said.

“That I’m a hypocrite, that I’m an idiot,” Weiss said taking her jacket from the ground and putting it on gently to cover her wings “I’m a faunus who thinks faunus are degenerates.”

Blake just sighed while gently placed a hand on her shoulder. “I’m not going to say that. We are a team, we shouldn’t degrade one another to make ourselves feel powerful.” Weiss just looked away and sighed. “If you want to talk about this, then we should do it as a team.”

“Fine then,” Weiss said calmly. Talking about it would be the most painful thing for her, but she need to rip the bandage off now rather than later.  She stood up, thankfully her aura reactivated a bit while Blake was patching her up which slowly started to heal her. It wouldn’t be instant, especially since it just came back but it would back by morning at the latest. She still stumbled a bit, but didn’t need Blake to help her stand. She looked over as she heard cops coming this way and Ruby walking over toward the two.

“Are you two ok?” Ruby asked “and are you too still fighting.”

“We’re fine Ruby,” Weiss said “I only got slightly bruised. And we talked it over, we aren’t fighting.”

“Oh that’s great to hear,” Ruby said hugging them both.

“Ow ow, that side still hurts,” Weiss said making Ruby apologize and let go

“Glad to hear you’re ok,” Sun said hoping down from the create “him stepping on your wing must have hurt badly.” Weiss flinched at him saying that, but didn’t care at the moment.

“So you are a faunus,” Ruby said making Weiss shush her.

“You better keep that a secret,” Weiss said “it’s private information.”

“Ok I understand,” Ruby nodded.

“What about me?” Sun said nervously.

“You especially keep that a secret. I still don’t know how to feel about you,” Weiss said pointing at Sun.

“Same here,” he chuckled.

“But thank you for the first aid kit,” Weiss said adjusting her tone to be a bit more friendly. Cop finally arrived at the dock. Blake, Weiss, Ruby, Penny, and Sun just waited while sitting on some of the boxes. They were asked a few questions by them, but not serious happened to them. They were more or less just waiting for Yang to appear.

“You shouldn’t have your wings folded up like that,” Penny said to Weiss surprising her “that must be painful.”

Weiss just looked to her and said “I have to, I can’t have them out for the world to see. What would that say?”

“That your a faunus?” Sun smirked.

“You have no sense of public appearances do you?”

“I mean,” Sun looked down at his shirtless body “I grew up in Vacuo. How bad would it be for you to show off your Faunus heritage.”

“VERY,” Weiss said to his face “I’m not suppose to be a faunus. It a secret that you can never tell anyone. Understand.”

“Yea ok, I get it,” Sun said nervously “but how often do you, spread your wings.”

“Whenever I take a shower, which is usually twice a day,” Weiss sighed knowing what either of the two other faunus said.

“Weiss that isn’t healthy,” Blake said grabbing her shoulder “my traits are ears and I’m just putting a bow over them. You have more muscles and bones that you are just folding up and tucking in them in your shirt.”

“Doesn’t that hurt,” Sun asked “I mean, I can’t compare that much, but sitting on my tail stings.”

“Well I can’t show them off to everyone to see.” Weiss said “besides I’m use to.”

“At least spread the out when you are in our dorm,” Blake said. Weiss would love to do that but she also imagined what her father would say. After 15 minutes of them waiting, she was rushing towards them.

“There, you guys are?” Yang said “are you guys ok?”

“We’re fine Yang,” Blake said.

“Did you to make up,” Yang asked.

“Yes, we talked it over mostly,” Weiss said “and why did take you this long to get to the docks.”

“I didn’t know where I was headed until I heard an explosion,” Yang said “definitely need to memorize this place better. All I know if a few shops.”

“Well I guess we back together,” Ruby said “let’s head back to our dorms.”

“Yes, let’s,” Weiss said standing up and feeling her wing sting from moving “when we get back I’ll starting being more truthful.” All for of them started to walk towards Beacon.

“We’ll see you guy later,” Sun said walking in the other direction.

“Wait a minute, where did Penny go?” Ruby said turning around.

“Probably back at her hotel room,” Weiss said. Continue walking towards the dorm as Weiss continued to think. Every moment passed felt like an hour and she knew what was going to happen next. She was careful with her wings, as one was still damaged and untucked.
When they entered the room, Weiss closed the curtain and locked the door. She took off her jacket and showed them her large wings. She had never shown them to anyone besides her family and a few servants.

She didn’t look at her teammates faces, but could hear them gasp in surprise. “I’m a faunus,” Weiss said. It was the first time she actually said out loud.

“They look so fluffy,” Ruby said examining them while not touching them. Weiss was glad, Ruby maybe childish but was the furthest thing from impolite. Weiss had a mixture of emotions all at once. Her team, her friends knew what she was but were more excepting then she would have been.

“I still can’t believe it,” Blake said “you’re a faunus.”

“Yes,” Weiss sighed turning towards Blake and Yang while accidentally bumping Ruby with her wing. She had nothing else to say to that. But she could see Blake’s eyes and guest she had a dozen questions, along with the rest of her team. “Go ahead, ask away?”

“What?” Ruby said.

“Weiss Schnee, a faunus, you must have so many questions,” Weiss said trying not to cry.

“Weiss, this isn’t an interrogation,” Blake said “we are just here to talk to one another.”

“I know what going on it your heads,” Weiss pointed at them. She wishes she could take back what she said, what she had shown them. But she just had to push through. “What I said on Friday, What I said to Blake, what I said to faunus in general, that I’m a faunus who hates faunuses?”

“Weiss just, take a deep breath and just talk,” Blake said putting a hand on her shoulder “we are not going to pester you with questions you don’t want to answer, just speak everything that’s on your mind.”

Weiss took a deep breath in, and just started to say everything she wanted to say “I never wanted to be born a faunus,” she was trying her best to keep her voice calm and not trying to cry, while she could make sure only her team could hear, she wasn’t entirely sure about her crying “I am a literal bastard. I have to hide what I am because it will ruin the Schnee family name, the company, and my fathers reputation if it was revealed. Faunus haven’t been particularly been kind to the Schnee company and brand, especially the White Fang. Do you think my father hated me because I wasn’t his biology daughter, that my mom had me out of wedlock. He couldn’t careless. He hated me the moment I was born because I was a faunus that suppose to inherit the company.” Weiss felt herself crying at that moment, it was hard for her to breath properly. But she continued “I never had an easy life since I was born. I had been forced to do what my father wanted for as long as I can remember, so I wouldn’t make the company look bad. I had wear dresses to hide what I am, interact with people I didn’t want to keep up appearances, but never allowed to leave our home on my own. I barely was allowed to even to come to Beacon and my father is trying daily to make me come back and stay in the manor unable to do anything. All I had ever been for my whole life was a caged bird. Being a faunus has only made my life more difficult.” This left their small dorm room quiet for a long moment. Then she started to feel something hug her tightly, it was Ruby.

“Everything is going to be fine Weiss,” Ruby said “just take some deep breaths in. We are a team. We support each other no matter.” She then felt Blake hug her from the front. Then Followed by Yang.

“Weiss, you don’t have to act like that round us,” Blake said.

“Yeah, you dad ain’t here to order you around,” Yang said “you can do what you want here. You’re a huntress in training, not a caged bird.”
Weiss just took a deep breath in and wrapped her wings gently around them.

“Thank you,” Weiss said “it actually feel better now that you know this. But I am not ready for the world to see. There is still the SDC and my reputation I have to worry about.”

“Well I guess we got a lot to learn about one another,” Blake said letting go over her “but first, I need to see your nightgown.”

“Why?” Weiss asked.

“I’m cutting holes to fit your wing,” Blake said walking towards Ruby and Weiss shared closet.

“Absolutely not,” Weiss said spreading her wings out and accidentally hitting Ruby with them, pushing her back slightly “do you know how much does are worth?”

“Weiss you have been sleeping on your wings, that are folded up while laying on your back,” Blake said opening the closet “I understand you still wanting to hide them from the public, I’m not going to let you damage yourself any longer every time you sleep.”

“Those are expensive, I’m not letting you damage my clothing.”

“It only your pajamas,” Blake said grabbing one of them “I know your secret is worth more than my but you can’t keep sleeping on your wings. Yang hold her down.”

“On it,” Yang said nearly tackling Weiss into the bed. Weiss tried to struggle, but she wasn’t as strong enough. After a few minutes of Weiss only able to hear Blake cut into her pajamas while Ruby watched, after a few minutes Yang finally let her go as Blake threw her nightgown at her. She looked at it, noticing that it wasn’t careless cut. It wasn’t perfect, but it now had two evenly cut whole that Weiss could easily slide through. Though she would have to sew a bit of it back up to match the length of her wings.

Weiss just sighed and got undress, ready to go to bed. She took off her clothing, carefully moving her wing that was still bandaged up. She had pajamas at home that fit her wings, the only clothing that she actually had that allowed it.

When she finally put it on, it felt amazing. She would definitely have to get some better one, but it felt good to be wearing something that allowed her to fully move her wings. Even her dress was restrictive.

“Looks good,” Yang said giving a thumbs up “I didn’t know you knew how to do that.”

“I spent 5 years traveling and sleeping camps,” Blake said “I picked up a lot of things.”

“Oh you look like and angel,” Ruby said happily “though I have a question.”

“What is it Ruby?” Weiss sighed.

“Can you fly with them?” Ruby asked. Weiss have that a thought, she loved to fly as a kid. It actually made her love them. But she hadn’t flown in years, all because of her father. She wasn’t even allowed to jump without him getting angry.

“I haven’t flown in years,” Weiss said.

“What, Why?”

“It’s complicated. I’m sorry, I’m getting tired and we all had a long day.” Weiss laid on her stomach, which was comfortable and her wings move gently, almost acting like a blanket.

“Are your wings damaged? I’m sorry if that’s-.”

”No, it’s just I haven’t tried flying in many years.”

”Well, do you want to fly again?” Yang asked hoping into her bed.

”maybe, I’m going to sleep, good night guys.” Weiss drifted off into sleep easily, It was like she was back home, in her room. She smiled as she slowly fell asleep.

Notes:

So yeah, first fanfic on Ao3. Also thank god for the wiki having the transcripts for the parts of the dialog, probably not going to use it for every chapter as the next chapters will most be about Weiss learning more about herself. Don’t have a large plan, but ideas to use.
