Final Farewell

Summary:

What if Kaeya is actually cursed just like the other Khaenri'ahns

"What's happening?" Jean watched as blue particles floated around her friend, the same blue light engulfing his entire body.

"It's time for me to go." Kaeya smiled melancholy.

"What are you talking about?" His brother's face filled with concern and confusion. They recently just fixed their relationship and looking at what's happening to his brother's body terrifies him. Seeing the blue particles slowly turn Kaeya's body transparent sent shivers down his spine.

Work Text:

They won. Together, with the powers of the Archons and everyone, they have brought Celestia to their knees.

All is at peace, the curse that plagued the Khaenri'ahns for hundreds of years has been broken and thus, they can finally return to their rightful resting place.

Blue light surrounded the man's body. Dainsleif smiled, for once in his life, he had never felt such a peaceful feeling.

"Dain." Aether and Lumine called his name. Paimon floated right next to him, their faces filled with sadness knowing what was happening.

"Thank you. Both of you." Dainsleif smiled at them.

"We'll miss you Dain." Paimon choked out a sob.

"Go ahead and rest. You deserve it." Aether smiled, holding his sister beside him, tears escaping from their eyes.

A tear escaped from Kaeya's eye. "I'm sorry Luc. I lied to you again, but don't worry, it's the last one."

"Kaeya what are you talking about?" Diluc's voice shook.

"As a mortal, I shouldn't have lived for as long as I did but now that the curse is broken…"

"No!" Diluc shouted. "You can't!!!!"

"You can't leave me!!!"

"I don't want to either." Kaeya swallowed a lump in his throat. Choking up through his tears. "You are all very precious to me." Kaeya looked around him, his friends and companions all holding back their own tears.

"But I have to go and I'll miss every single one of you." Kaeya can't help his tears from falling.

"Oh, Kaeya!" Jean cried as she wrapped her arms around him.

Everyone's emotions filled the city.

"Captain!!" Mika broke down in tears, burying his face onto the Captain's chest as the fellow knights simply couldn't hold back their own tears any longer.

Kaeya never felt so loved until this moment. It's weird, he never would have thought that this many people cared for him.

"Too bad you won't be able to enact your vengeance." Kaeya chuckled.

Eula simply smiled and gave Kaeya a warm hug. "Thank you for everything Kaeya. I will never forget the kindness that you have shown and given to me." She said, loud enough for only him to hear.

Kaeya smiled. "Vengeance received."

"You can't leave me…Not when we just…" Diluc cried, tugging on Kaeya's shirt, raw tears streaming down his face.

"I'm sorry Luc." Kaeya softly apologized as he engulfed his brother in a warm hug. Diluc’s arms shook as he held him tight, afraid to let go.

"Kaeya please… you can't leave." His voice filled with raw desperation.

Kaeya didn't respond, he only held his brother close.

Blue light filled the night sky as all the remains of the curse slowly disappeared and turned into beautiful blue particles that floated upwards.

Diluc's body trembled as he slowly lost his grip on Kaeya's body. His knees gave out and he cried his heart out as his beloved brother was nowhere to be seen. Blue particles floated around the people of Mondstadt before flying upwards in the sky.

Diluc looked up with teary eyes, "Say hi to Father for me will you."

The war had ended, and everything went back to normal. But Mondstadt is still grieving. The loss of their Cavalry Captain is far too much to bear.

Jean wiped her tears as she and Master Varka entered Kaeya's office. It's a lot cleaner than she expected but what struck her the most was the stack of letters on his desk.

Taking a closer look, the tears started flowing again. Kaeya had anticipated his death from the beginning. That's why his office is spotless, that's why there are letters addressed…
