Summary
Kristin can smell the blood before she is even close to the reef that is home to many pods of merfolk. The reef here was meant to be a safe place for any merfolk that wanted to escape the wars going on. Around hundred mers called the reef home and the number would rise and fall as others came and went. It did not matter where you came from or what you were trying to avoid, this was a safe place for all.
The whole area was meant as a neutral ground where no fighting was allowed. The area here was her territory that she agreed to let others live on to offer safety. But the waters carried the blood to her home, and she knew something horrible had happened.
It did not take long for her to come upon the destroyed reef and the bodies that littered the ruins. Her stomach turned the longer she stared at the once beautiful reef and the many merfolk that once lived there. An anger flared to life in her chest at who thought they could come into her territory and murder those under her protection.
