“I don’t…”
“I do.”
Wendy speaks softly, her voice so gently sure that Charlotte can’t help her smile even as she blushes a little. She’s not used to Love like this. Love that is so loud and proud and real. She’s used to hiding it, pretending she doesn’t care when it hurts. This feels better. This feels right.
“I do. Charlotte… I love you. Marry me?”
“Yes.”
The word comes so softly that Wendy takes a second to register it, then she smiles, slipping the ring onto Charlotte’s finger and kissing her gently but deeply. She’s loved, finally. Charlotte, she thinks, is worth the wait.
