Luffy was on Punk Hazard partying alongside his nakama and Smokey’s Marines when he noticed that Torao wasn’t joining in. But that wasn’t right; he wanted his new ally to be enjoying himself after their victory. He pulled his arm from where it was wrapped around Zoro’s shoulders, took a bite of the meat from his other hand, and peered around, looking for a black coat or fluffy, white hat.
Luffy brightened when he found Torao sitting on a crate on the outskirts of the party, eating some of Sanji’s delicious soup. At least he’s got food, Luffy thought. That was the most important part. He was about to turn back to the others when he noticed who Torao was sitting with: Smokey. The Marine was eating his own helping of soup, and the two seemed to be exchanging words, though Luffy was too far away to hear them.
Luffy frowned at the sight. He knew Torao was a Warlord now so must have worked with the Marines at least some, but, for some reason, him sitting alongside Smokey made something under his skin itch.
He remembered glancing back when they were in the cart escaping the lab to see Torao and Smokey talking. Torao had made one of his blue domes around Smokey while the Marine had acted annoyed but hadn’t tried to stop him. After a few seconds, Torao had dropped the dome and said something to Smokey, who’d nodded and turned back to his swordslady, though he’d kept shooting glances at Torao from the corner of his eye—and a few times, Torao had looked back, lips twitching in a smirk.
That look had reminded Luffy of Law’s expression on the mountaintop when he’d proposed the alliance. Luffy didn’t like seeing it directed at someone else, especially not a Marine—even Smokey, who Luffy liked. Torao was Luffy’s ally, and he didn’t want to share. (People were constantly telling Luffy he was selfish, and they weren’t wrong.)
“What’s up, Luffy?” Zoro asked, clearly noticing Luffy’s frown.
“I don’t think Torao should be talking to Smokey,” Luffy said, eyes still on the pair.
Zoro followed Luffy’s gaze and raised an eyebrow. “Why not? Torao’s a Warlord, right? Don’t they talk to the Marines all the time?”
“I don’t care about the Marines,” Luffy replied, eyes narrowing as Torao pushed himself to his feet and glanced down at the still-seated Smoker. He was smirking again, and something inside Luffy’s chest flip-flopped. “He shouldn’t talk to Smokey.”
Zoro was quiet for a moment before letting out a bark of laughter. “Okay, Captain. Whatever you say.”
Luffy, though, ignored his first mate’s words and instead used him to slingshot toward his allied captain. “Torao!” Luffy called as he landed in front of the taller pirate. “Are you enjoying the party?”
Torao turned from Smokey to look down at Luffy, his brows furrowing. “This is a waste of time, Straw Hat-ya. We should have left by now. Doflamingo must be on his way already.”
Warmth spread in Luffy’s chest as Torao’s golden eyes focused on him, letting the annoyed tone wash past him. He grinned. “Sure, sure!” He liked having Torao’s attention; he was going to make sure he had it moving forward.

Luffy’s fists clenched and unclenched as he and Violet and the Toy Soldier hid outside Mingo’s throne room. Torao was alive, but he was chained to one of the seats—probably with Seastone—and Mingo had one foot on the seat between Torao’s legs. He was leaning forward into Torao’s space, but Torao had nowhere to go while Mingo reached out a hand and stroked a finger down his cheek and neck and back up again. Torao shut his eyes, but Luffy could practically feel the tension in his body. Something sharp and ugly burned in his veins.
“I must say, Law,” Mingo practically purred. “You grew up well. Just as I knew you would.”
“Fuck off,” Torao growled, eyes still shut.
Mingo’s hand stopped stroking and suddenly grabbed a handful of hair at the back of Torao’s head. Torao’s eyes flew open, and he let out a grunt of pain as Mingo forced him to lift his chin until they were eye to eye.
“Language, Law,” Mingo warned. “Though you’ve always had a mouth on you.” His lips twitched again. “I’m sure we could find a better use for it.”
“If you’re going to kill me, just do it,” Law snarled.
“My dear boy,” Mingo replied, clearly amused, “if I were going to kill you, I would have done so already. You’re exactly where I want you. Where you were always meant to be.”
Torao glanced up at the heart decorating the chair he sat on before slumping in defeat. “Fuck you,” he muttered.
Mingo chuckled. “Fufufu, maybe later.”
“Wait! You can’t go in yet.”
Luffy paused, glancing down to see Violet’s hand on his arm and a worried look on her face. He hadn’t even realized he’d moved toward the window. He let her pull him back down out of view but turned to her. “But Mingo’s—”
Violet’s expression was grim as she said, “He’s just like that.” Her lips pressed into a thin line before she added, “And he’s been waiting for Law to come back and sit in that seat for a very long time.”
Luffy frowned as he peered back over the window ledge into the throne room. Mingo had his fingers wrapped around Torao’s jaw. Rage boiled under Luffy’s skin at the way Mingo was treating Torao. The way he was touching him when Torao obviously didn’t want it. He was going to make Mingo pay for that.
“Straw Hat-ya.”
Luffy looked up from where he was leaning over the railing on Barto’s ship to look at the fish in the water. He grinned when he saw Torao standing a few feet away, that huge sword of his resting against his shoulder. He held a newspaper in his other hand. “Hi, Torao. What’s up?”
“Why,” Torao said, something strained in his voice, “is the newspaper saying all of Doflamingo’s fingers were broken?”
Luffy’s gaze slid unbidden to the bandages encircling Torao’s arm and peeking through his shirt before he met Torao’s eyes again and raised an eyebrow as he remembered the throne room. “I didn’t like the way he touched Torao.”
A bunch of emotions flashed across Torao’s face, and Luffy chuckled as a faint pink blush dusted his cheeks. Torao pulled his hat down over his eyes and muttered something about Luffy being an idiot, but Luffy just grinned wider, his insides fluttering happily as he watched Torao sputter. He liked being the one to make the unflappable Torao blush. (And he wasn’t sorry for teaching Mingo what happened when he touched Torao like that.)

Luffy opened the door to the tavern Robin said Torao had gone to after they’d docked for a resupply on the way to Zou and stepped inside. It was dim, the only light coming for sporadically lit lanterns on the walls around the room, and most of the tables were full of patrons drinking and laughing, some shouting, and others even arm wrestling. Luffy thought that looked fun, but he was here for a reason.
He looked around until he spotted Torao sitting at the bar, nursing a mug of something with his left hand while his bandaged right arm rested against the wooden bar. He’d taken his hat off and rested it next to him, leaving his unruly hair visible, while his sword leaned against the bar beside him. Light glinted off his earrings, and for a moment, Luffy was frozen. His insides felt funny as he looked at his ally’s profile, tracing the sharp lines of Torao’s face with his eyes. Mingo had stroked those lines, and Luffy had broken his fingers for it.
So, why did Luffy want to do the same thing?
His view was interrupted as a man slid into the empty seat next to Torao. Luffy noticed that Torao’s jaw tightened as the man ordered a drink before angling himself toward Torao and, as he spoke, moved his hand closer and closer to Torao’s arm. Torao hunched his shoulders and gave one-word responses between sips of his drink—Can’t he see Torao’s not interested? Luffy thought in annoyance—while the man continued talking.
Finally having enough, Luffy stomped over to the bar. “There you are, Torao,” he said, flopping down into the seat on Torao’s other side.
Torao turned away from the other man and raised an eyebrow at Luffy. “What are you doing here, Straw Hat-ya?”
“Looking for you,” Luffy replied easily. It was the truth, after all.
“Are you two together?” the man on Torao’s other side, glancing between the two of them and pulling his hand back from Torao.
“Yep! We’re partners,” Luffy replied.
“We’re not together,” Torao argued at the same time as the man said, “Shit, sorry. I didn’t know.”
“No problem,” Luffy said with a grin and a wave as the man took his drink and fled from the bar in a hurry.
Torao watched him go before turning back to Luffy. “What the fuck, Straw Hat-ya?”
Luffy scratched his nose. “Hm? It looked like Torao wanted that guy to leave.” He glanced back toward the corner the other man had retreated to before tilting his head at Law. “Was I wrong?”
“No, but—”
“Good! Now, are you going to buy me a drink?” Luffy asked as the bartender came up with an expectant look.
Torao gaped at Luffy, and curiously, his ears turned red. Luffy wasn’t sure what that was about, but he knew he liked being the cause of it as Torao muttered something to the bartender, who put a glass in front of Luffy. Luffy eyed the drink for a moment before taking a big gulp. It was sour and burned all the way down. He sputtered and gagged, slamming the glass on the table, sloshing more of the foul liquid on his hand.
“Blech, what is th—” Luffy started before realizing that Torao was smirking into his mug. Luffy’s mouth worked silently a few times, but then he found himself grinning in response.

Luffy was excited when Torao brought his nakama to have a party on Zou, though the party wasn’t the same without Sanji. But Luffy would get him back. Until then, they could party.
Still, Luffy’s chest ached when he looked over at the Heart Pirates to see them surrounding Torao. He was happy that Torao finally got to see his nakama again—it was obvious he’d missed them, and they really seemed to have missed him too—but he’d been surprised when he’d first looked over at the Hearts to see Torao smiling.
Luffy had seen a lot of expressions on Torao, but none had been as soft as he looked now, leaning against the polar bear with a mug in hand and several of his nakama gesturing widely as they told a story.
Luffy wanted Torao to make that face when he looked at him.

The party in the Flower Capital was in full swing, and Luffy was having a great time. He’d eaten so much good food and had so many awesome drinks as he, Yama-bro, Usopp, and Chopper had gone from stall to stall. The Wano people kept shoving food and drinks into their hands, and even though Luffy didn’t beat Kaido to be a hero, he wasn’t going to turn down the food. It was so good to see everyone eating after everything Luffy had seen when he’d first gotten to Wano.
Still, as the festivities went on, Luffy couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. Or someone. He found himself looking around for a familiar white hat in the crowd but didn’t see it. After handing a stick of cotton candy to a bouncy Chopper, Luffy stretched his arms to grab onto a nearby building and pulled himself onto the roof. He looked through the throngs of people, but eventually he picked out a white hat moving toward the outskirts of the party. Luffy frowned. He didn’t want Torao to leave before Luffy had even seen him.
Luffy set off after his allied captain, staying on the rooftops to avoid the crowds. Enough people had taken to the roofs during the celebration, however, that no one gave him a second look. He kept his eyes on that retreating hat until it disappeared down a side street. Luffy was just coming to the corner Torao had turned when he heard a familiar voice.
“—blow off a bit of steam?” the voice was saying.
Luffy pulled up short and peered down onto the street. It was just far enough away from the center of the party that there weren’t many people around. It was easy to see Torao leaning against a building, arms crossed, while Gizao had his one hand pressed up against the building next to Torao’s head. Gizao was angled toward Torao, something sharp in his gaze as he looked at Torao that had Luffy’s hackles up.
“I am not nearly drunk enough for this,” Torao replied.
“But yer not leaving, either,” Gizao pointed out, smirking. “C’mon, Trafalgar. You need to get that stick out of yer ass. It’s a party.”
Torao’s lips twitched upward. “You thinking about my ass, Eustass-ya?”
“Maybe,” Gizao said, leering at Torao, and Luffy realized his teeth were grinding. “Maybe I’ve been thinkin’ it would look good with my dick in it.”
Torao snorted. “How could I ever say no to that?” he drawled.
At that point, Luffy had had enough of listening in on the conversation so jumped down from the room. “There you are, Torao! Hi Gizao!” Luffy said, looking between the two captains.
“What d’ya want, Straw Hat?” Gizao asked, frowning. “We were in the middle of something.”
“We really weren’t,” Torao muttered, and Luffy felt something unhappy in his chest ease. Torao wasn’t interested in Gizao.
“I was looking for Torao!” Luffy said, turning to his ally. “I didn’t see you at the party, but I wanted to show you something!”
“What—” Torao started before letting out a surprised yelp that he’d never admit to making as Luffy reached out to grab him and took to the rooftops. He cackled, feeling lighter than air, as Gizao yelled in annoyance behind them while Torao sighed and tucked his head into Luffy’s shoulder.

“What did you want to sho—” Torao started to ask once Luffy had set them down on the balcony outside the wing of the palace given to the pirates, but Luffy was charging the other captain the moment his sandals hit the tile. As Torao turned to face Luffy, Luffy crashed his lips into Torao’s, swallowing his words.
Torao went rigid and let out a shocked breath that Luffy eagerly swallowed. But after a moment’s hesitation, Torao returned the kiss, pushing back against Luffy, nipping Luffy’s bottom lip with his teeth before soothing it over with his tongue.
Luffy groaned at the feeling. He didn’t really know what to do with his hands so settled one on Torao’s hip and the other in his hair. Torao made a sound at that, so Luffy, curious, tightened his grip. Torao moaned into his mouth, and Luffy’s cock twitched. He was going to remember that sound for the rest of his life.
He’d never given much thought to kissing or fucking, but the feeling of Torao’s lips working against his own was one of the best, most freeing things he’d ever felt. Like the swooping in his stomach when the Sunny used Coup de Burst to take to the air. Like coming home after a long time away. He could feel Torao’s body hot and tense against his own, and he was light-headed and dizzy with pleasure—
Or maybe from lack of air. He took a few deep breaths and blinked a few times when he realized Torao had pulled back. He was panting and flushed, and his lips were swollen. His golden eyes were blown wide, and oh, how Luffy wanted.
“Straw Hat-ya…” Torao started, flicking his tongue across his bottom lip. Luffy followed the motion with his eyes before grabbing a fistful of Torao’s tank top and pulling him back in until their foreheads were touching.
“I want you, Torao,” Luffy said lowly.
Luffy wanted this man in every way he could have him. He wanted to keep kissing Torao, to feel Torao’s lips against his own, to swallow his breathy sounds and see what other sounds he could make. He wanted to feel the press of Torao’s body against his own and tangle his hands in Torao’s messy hair. But he also wanted Torao beneath him, writhing with pleasure and saying his name. He wanted Torao above him, around him, in him. He wanted to know Torao inside and out, to know him like no one else in the world.
Luffy burned with it. But only if…
“What do you want?” Luffy asked, meeting Torao’s eye.
He watched a dozen different emotions flit across Torao’s face—as always, he was so easy to read; he didn’t know why his nakama thought he was aloof—before he pulled back. For the briefest moment, Luffy felt the world fall out from under him until Torao was reaching for his hand and tugging him toward the balcony door.
“Bedroom,” he growled, and Luffy grinned victoriously.
