Going a little bit mad

Summary:

Trent Crimm, independent, travels to America to promote his new book and to see how Ted is doing.
Ted is happy to reunite with his dork, but nothing could prepare him for Trent's attire.

-> This is more of a prompt really, if you feel inspired by it I would love to read more!

Notes:

This idea has appeared to me vividly as I was commuting to work and every single cell of my body has been screaming at me to write it. I am sorry if the grammar sucks, I just had to get it out of me asap.

Work Text:

Ted was waiting with the same trepidation he used to reserve for when Henry visited him back in England.

There was a small crowd of people gathering around the airport barriers and he tried to push himself to the front so Trent would see him right after the door of the arrivals opened, in case the A.F.C Richmond hat he was wearing wasn't recognizable enough.

When the journalist turned now independent author had contacted him asking for help locating an hotel in Kansas City, Ted found it easy to offer him his home as a place to stay for a couple of weeks, while Trent tried to sell his book here in the States. Now, waiting to see the familiar sight of a perfectly groomed mane, Ted wondered if his had been a good idea, but as the automatic doors started letting the newly arrived passengers reunite with their waiting families, he had no more time to doubt his choice.

Trent came out of the doors pretty quickly, a big luggage in hand and a backpack on his back, hair tied in a high bun as his glasses sit prettily on his nose. He noticed Ted almost immediately and the smile he shot at him made Ted's heart hurt for a second or two.

"Trent Crimm! Come on, bring it in!" and the two hugged, almost akwardly, before Ted started leading the way to his car, stealing Trent's luggage in the meanwhile.

"Ted, thank you so much for having me. I was afraid I'd have to cancel my ticket since every Hotel in Kansas City seems to be booked right now."

"Well, that's the high season for ya! Bless your heart, really, you should've book at least one month in advance."

"Yes, well. Will do for the next time."

Now exiting the airport while walking to Ted's car, Trent experienced his first instance of cultural shock: the heat.

Whilst lagging behind and maneuvering his backpack around, he removed his blazer and stuffed it in the bag, before returning it to his back.

"You weren't kidding when you told me to pack light."

"Sure wasn't! Gets hotter than-"

Standing there, one hand about to open his trunk, Ted Lasso experienced his first instance of mental confusion and, admittedly, gay awakening: the skin.

Because the shirt Trent had been wearing under his suit was not a normal shirt but an orange crop top that showed the slightest patch of skin and Ted had this insane thought that he had to touch it.

"Ted? Are you alright?

"No. Yes. Yes. Definitely yes. Never been better actually. Why don't you go ahead and sit in the front while I load up the trunk?"

And as he saw Trent get into the passenger seat of his auto , Ted was suddenly brought back to his earlier thoughts:

"Oh, god. It was a terrible idea actually."
