Trent gently placed a hand over his mouth, cutting off the self-deprecating ramble Ted was building up to as he raised a sceptical eyebrow.
“Ted, darling, we have been together for six glorious months. I vaguely remember you saying exactly the same thing when we got together. And on our first date. And… well. You say it a lot. A lot more than I like to hear it. I’m with you for you Ted. All of you. Not just the parts that you consider… palatable.” Trent stroked a gentle hand through Ted’s hair, tugging slightly as he got to the ends to force clearer eye contact, desperate for the message to go through.
“And as for the rest of it, have I, at any point, done anything that has led you to believe I don’t find you breathtakingly gorgeous? That you don’t turn me on just by bending over in those frankly hideous khaki trousers you insist on wearing? That I don’t think about you that time you got caught in the sprinklers? Eddie wakes first.
It takes a second for him to register where he is. He’s being dragged slowly into consciousness, his whole body relaxed and sleep-warm. That’s— okay, that’s inaccurate, he feels hot. His cheeks feel flushed, skin prickling, like his body is overheating.
