You'd Fall In Love With Me

Summary:

Katsuki had to take a leap and see if maybe he and Izuku can be more than friends. He uses his other two love songs to put out a trio album, and now he just has to make sure his mom will still get Izuku to his house. He might be making the biggest mistake of his life, but he could also be on the cusp of the best moment of his life.

Notes:

This is the final Katsuki Montana fic, unless I get hit with inspiration somewhere down the line.

I hope you enjoy this fic!!

Work Text:

Katsuki: It’s Time.

Katsuki’s going to release a trio of songs instead of only releasing He Could Be The One. This wasn’t a plan he wanted to use, but these were songs he had in his back pocket that he wasn’t going to ever let see the light of day.

But he’ll release them alongside He Could Be The One and the mini album is going to be called, Loving You. The album cover will be one that they’d planned to use on his next full album release. The image is a silhouette of his back in a doorway, the orange beanie covering his hair being the only thing that can clearly be seen in the photo that has been blurred from the edges in.

His mom is in the music production group chat, so he sends her a private message to explain.

Katsuki: Ma, don’t freak out. Keep on with inviting the Midoriyas to dinner. I’m going to send out my other two ‘love songs’ alongside the one I wrote because of Eijirou. I need Izuku to be there with me when the songs go live.

Ma: Are you finally going to confess to Izuku?

Katsuki: Yes, so please make sure they come over for dinner.

Ma: I got it. You deal with the group chat.

Katsuki: yeah, yeah, I got it. Thanks or whatever.

Katsuki spends the next hour on a call with his production team getting everything set up for release, and he makes a meeting for them to go over everything at the studio before the release time to make sure everything is set up. He messages Aizawa about it to see if Mic can drive him, and his dad will bring him home. Once he gets the okay, he sets the time for noon.

~~~
The next morning, Katsuki is up early and doing a quick training session with Eijirou before he has to shower and get ready to head into the studio.
“So, you’re going to confess today? That’s so manly bro!” exclaims Eijirou as he ducks a hit, tossing one at Katsuki only to catch air.
“I’m going to attempt to confess before the damn release, but if I can’t get the words out, I’m making him listen to them with me.” replies Katsuki before he tackles Eijirou down and holds a fist back. “Go be with your boyfriend, he’s been waiting the last ten minutes, at least.”
Katsuki stands and holds a hand out to pull Eijirou up as well. Then he nods his head towards the door where Hitoshi is leaning against the wall, watchful. Eijirou grins all wide and lovey, and he jogs towards him.
“Later bro, tell me how it goes!” calls Eijirou over his shoulder just as he reaches Hitoshi.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” hollers Katsuki as he heads towards the gym showers rather than following them back to the dorm.
It’s a little after ten-thirty, so he’s going to shower here and head to the front gate to wait. The sooner he gets the studio the sooner he gets to sneak into his place without Izuku or Inko catching sight of him.
By the time he makes it to the front gates, wearing his black, baggy sweats and a grey tee with a skull on it, Mic is waiting by his 2004 camry, with a wide grin as he talks on his phone.
“-I know Eri, sweetie, but pops has to get Katsuki to his dad, remember? Talk to you soon, love you, bye.” says Mic before he hangs up the call, looking fond and exasperated as he catches sight of Katsuki. “Hey, kiddo, you ready to go?”
“Eri in one of her clingy moods?” asks Katsuki instead of answering the question, quirking a brow in his teacher’s direction.
“Yeah, she had a nightmare last night while Sho was gone, so she’s been attached to both of us all day.” replies Mic fondly as he walks around to the driver’s side of his car.
“You could’ve seen if Vlad would run me, I would’ve been okay with it.” says Katsuki as they slip into the car.
“I know, but I have to go pick up Eri’s present today. So, I’m dropping you and going straight there. It wasn’t supposed to be here yet, but I got the message this morning.” replies Mic as he pulls up something on his phone before handing it to Katsuki after he’s buckled in.
“Oh, she’s going to lose it.” says Katsuki softly as he stares at the image on the phone, a small grey kitten is curled up on a unicorn cat bed, looking tiny in the big bed.
“Yep, and that’s why I didn’t ask someone else to take you.” says Hizashi with barely hidden excitement as he pulls off and gets them on the road. “So, you gonna confess to Izuku today?”
“Does everyone know how I feel about him?” asks Katsuki with a huff as he stares out the window.
“Not everyone, no. I know because Shota knows. Nejire and Yagi have their suspicions, and Nezu is the neutral party for our bets.” replies Mic with a sneaky grin as he drives, winking at Katsuki as he slows to a stop at a light.
“You all took bets?” asks Katsuki in disbelief as he looks at Mic all wide-eyed.
“Oh, we take bets on a lot of things. And Nezu enjoys being the tracker and delivering the collected winnings once given photographic evidence. Which reminds me, if you could get a message to me or Shota about it would be lovely. Recovery Girl has the bet on today.” replies Mic with a chuckle as they drive.
“Will do. Thank you again for driving me, I appreciate it.” says Katsuki softly as Mic pulls into the parking garage of Katsuki’s studio and the Bakugou’s design and modeling building.
“It’s never a problem, little listener. See you in class on Monday.” says Mic as Katsuki opens the door and climbs out of the car.
“See you Monday.” replies Katsuki before he shuts the door and heads over to the building’s door.
He gets into the elevator by the door, and the lengthy elevator ride begins. When it opens on their studio floor, everyone is waiting outside their production room.
“Let’s get this done, my dad will be down in an hour.” says Katsuki as he opens the door, firm and ready.
Katsuki spends the next hour making sure the trio of songs will drop without any issues. He works with his team to prepare the lyric videos as well as the album cover, and they finish everything two minutes before Masaru knocks twice on the door.
“You ready to go, Kats?” asks Masaru after he opens the door, soft spoken and easygoing.
“Yeah, I am. Drop it in two hours, and message me half an hour before. No mistakes, this is too fucking important.” says Katsuki seriously as he looks at each member of his team, waiting until he receives a nod from each of them before he turns to his dad.
“Come on, kid, they’ve got this. Your mom’s got the back door open for you.” says Masaru as he holds the door open, following Katsuki to the elevator across the hall.
“What’s for dinner?” asks Katsuki as they step into the elevator, pushing the button for the ground floor.
“Curry, but we are also doing katsudon for Izuku.” replies Masaru as they go down, soft and knowing.
“Good, Izuku will be glad to not have to burn his taste buds.” says Katsuki with a half shrug as the elevator creaks to a stop.
“That’d be why I’ve got two dishes staying warm in crock pots. Let’s get going, we have an hour before they are supposed to be coming over.” replies Masaru with a smirk that rivals his son’s as they step out of the elevator and head to the parking lot.
The drive home is short and silent, thankfully, so Katsuki spends the time trying to figure out what he’s going to say, how he’s going to say it, and whether he’ll be able to get the words out before he plays the songs. He doesn’t have any actual answers, but he knows one thing at least, Izuku finds out today.
Getting into his house unseen, that’s pretty easy thanks to the privacy fence in the back, but getting out of dealing with his mom… Not so easy.
“Katsuki, get your ass back down here and tell me your plan!” hollers Mitsuki as Katsuki shuts the door behind him.
“No!” snaps Katsuki loudly, staring at his door, wondering if his mom will push it or not. When there’s not a noise following him, he turns and sits on the bed, laying back until his head touches his wall. “Thank fuck.”
“Katsuki, I know your ass did not seriously shut your door on me and my questions!” snarls Mitsuki as she slams his door open, hands on her hips as soon as Katsuki catches sight of her, sitting up straight. “What the fuck is your plan?”
“To tell him. That’s my only plan right now because fuck… I don’t think anything is going to work. I don’t see it ending happily, so I’m just going to try to tell him. That’s all I’m going to do.” replies Katsuki lowly, nervous and uncertain as he bares that fear to his mom, unable to hide it as his hands spark up.
“Katsuki, kid, you can’t seriously be thinking so negatively about anything relating to Izuku. Come on, kid, he thinks the world of you.” says Mitsuki as she looks at her son, exasperation and confusion as their eyes meet.
“Ma, I- I don’t see this ending positively.” replies Katsuki softly, almost unable to force the words out of his mouth.
“I-” starts Mitsuki, stepping forward as her face goes soft, caring, but she’s interrupted by Masaru’s voice booming as he says, “Come on in, Inko, Izuku, Mitsuki should be down in just a minute.”
“Show time.” mutters Katsuki as he nods to his mom, standing and following her as she straightens out and leaves his room.
He waits until he hears Izuku say, “Oh, there are five plates… Is someone else here, auntie?”
Katsuki clambers his way down the stairs, slinking into the room, and he watches as Izuku turns and looks at him, watches the color drain from his face, watches his eyes light up and dim, he watches Izuku get uncertain in his presence.
“Nerd, my song is dropping in twenty minutes. Come up to my room with your plate, you and I are eating up there.” says Katsuki as he goes into the kitchen and dips himself some food.
“Kacchan, what are you doing home?” asks Izuku softly as he joins him in the kitchen, grabbing his bowl and going to the crockpot with the Katsudon in it.
“I’ll explain everything when we get upstairs.” says Katsuki quietly before he grabs his utensils and leaves the kitchen.
Katsuki makes his way up the stairs, but he stops at the landing to look over his shoulder. Izuku hesitates a moment before he follows up the stairs after him. He heads into his room, and he settles himself on his bed, carefully. Izuku comes in after him and goes to the desk to settle in one of the two chairs there, setting his food carefully on the desk.
“Kacchan?” asks Izuku softly as Katsuki sets his food on his side table.
“I have to say something, and I know how bad it’s going to sound. But there’s a secret I’ve been keeping, and it’s one that I think I need to tell you, whether you listen to the songs or not.” says Katsuki softly, taking a breath as he looks at Izuku, red meeting green as Katsuki tries to psych himself up.
“Kacchan, you can tell me anything. You know that.” says Izuku with a bit of hurt in his tone, though he doesn’t shy away from the eye contact at all.
“I know, nerd, I know. The thing is, this isn’t something as easy as asking for help with an assignment. This is friendship ruining, and I am scared. I don’t want to lose you.” replies Katsuki softly, hands sparking with his nerves.
“You won’t lose me, Kacchan. I’m not leaving you, ever.” says Izuku softly, reassuring as he rolls the chair over to hold Katsuki’s sparking hands. “Tell me what’s going on, Kacchan.”
“I have three songs coming out today, a trio of love songs. One of them, I wrote because Eijirou is in love with Hitoshi. The second one is based on my parents' relationship, one in a million.” explains Katsuki as he looks at Izuku, as those eyes give him courage, trying to ball his hands into fists to stop the sparking. “But the last one, among many of the songs I have written or produced, is about the person that I love with everything in me. It’s called If We Were A Movie, and the reason it’s called that is because I don’t believe I deserve to be loved back. But I hope that you do.”
“Wha- What do you- Kacchan, what are you saying?” asks Izuku softly, uncertain but hopeful as he holds Katsuki’s hands on top of his.
“I- Listen to me, and tell me what you think I mean…” says Katsuki before he takes a deep breath and sings. “If we were a movie, you'd be the right guy. And I'd be the best friend that you'd fall in love with. In the end, we'd be laughin', watchin' the sunset Fade to black, show the names. Play the happy song.”
Katsuki looks at Izuku, his mouth clenched shut as he watches for any sign that this wasn’t the biggest mistake of his life.
“Please tell me that’s about me because you have romantic feelings for me, and not because someone else does.” says Izuku after a moment of silence, pleading as his grip tightens around Katsuki’s hands.
“Fuck, Izu, I love you. I’m in love with you. You’re my muse, my inspiration, and you push me to do better every single day because you are such an amazing human, an amazing hero. Izuku, you are the sweetest person I have ever met, and I can’t believe that you could ever feel the same for me. But I wish for it, I dream of it, and I am hoping right now that mmph-”
Katsuki is cut off by Izuku pulling him in by his hands to press their lips together, slotting together a bit harshly, Katsuki’s tooth jams into Izuku’s lip, but then Katsuki gets with the program, cupping Izuku’s face and tilting his own head slightly.
Then it’s like magic.
They’re in sync, they’re sensual the way they move together, Katsuki tugging Izuku into his lap, both hands falling to hold his hips as Izuku’s hand thrust into his hair, tugging lightly on the blonde strands.
“Hey! I’m totally okay with you two making out, but your classmates are hollering at me about the music!” hollers Mitsuki as she effectively jolts them apart, both of their faces flushing a deep red.
“I got it, Ma!” hollers Katsuki in response as he pulls his phone from his pocket to message the class group chat to tell them they’re not gonna hop on. Then he takes a picture of him and Izuku holding hands, and sends it to Mic-sensei. “Recovery Girl bet that we’d get together today, so I’m making sure she gets paid.”
“They bet on us too?” asks Izuku exasperatedly as he lets his head fall against Katsuki’s shoulder.
“Who else bet on us?” asks Katsuki as he side-eyes Izuku.
“Our friends, for one, but our parents did too. Though, I think Uncle Masaru won.” replies Izuku with a soft groan as he sits himself back up.
“I know our friends did, though I am curious about eyebags because I’m pretty sure he has a bet with someone as well. And I am not the least bit surprised that our parents have a bet. But did you know that Nezu is the neutral party for our teachers’ betting pools? Wild shit, Zu.” says Katsuki with laughter in his voice as he hugs Izuku to his chest.
His music is out. Izuku kissed him.
Katsuki feels like he’s on cloud nine, but there’s one thing that could blast him through the stratosphere.
“Izuku, will you be my boyfriend?” “Katsuki, will you be my boyfriend?”
They speak in unison, and then they’re giggling.
“So, Izu, will you be my boyfriend?” asks Katsuki through his giggles.
“Absolutely, Kacchan.” replies Izuku as he leans their heads together, still giggling, but so happy he’s shining.
Yeah, Katsuki’s on cloud nine, soaring with Izuku by his side. It’s perfect.
