Work Text:

Katsuki’s nervous, he’s been planning this for ages, and while Izuku is gone to visit his mom, he has to get everything set up. Camie, Inasa, Hitoshi, Denki, Eijirou, and Mina are helping him set everything up at the bar.

They’ve got the perfect song that they’ll play before because Izuku loves Change Your Name, and Katsuki has an entire speech planned out. The bar is opening later than normal because they’re setting up the tables differently to give Katsuki space to do this.

The ring box has been burning a hole into his safe for months, he knew he wanted to be Izuku’s forever the day they first met but asking Izuku to be with him forever… Katsuki is scared shitless.

“Bro, it’s gonna be great! He’s as gone on you as you are on him. Stop stressing so much, we’ve already got everything here, Camie baked a red velvet cake and there’s strawberry cheesecake as well. Everything is ready, and it’s going to go perfectly.” says Eijirou as Katsuki adjusts the table that Izuku and Inko are planning to occupy for the night for the fifth time in an hour.

“I know, I know, and Inko has been sending me positive messages all day. I just- what if he says no? What if he’s not ready? I mean it’s kind of soon, so maybe I should wait? I- I just- fuck. I love him so much, Eijirou.” rambles Katsuki nervously as he drops his head forward and closes his eyes.

“Katsuki, he’s going to say yes. I know he is because I know he loves you with everything he has. Take a breath and get behind the bar, it’s time to open up.” says Eijirou softly, encouragingly as he lays a hand on Katsuki’s shoulder in understanding and support.

“Yeah, yeah you’re right.” mumbles Katsuki softly before he makes his way behind the bar while Eijirou clicks on the open sign and heads out.

They won’t be here for the proposal because of work, but Inasa promised to record it and send it to everybody who won’t be able to make it.

The bar fills up quickly when the open sign turns on, and Katsuki lets himself get lost in his job, making drinks, taking orders, and opening and closing tabs. He’s so lost in his work that he doesn’t realize Izuku and Inko have arrived until he steps up to the hand he saw waving at his crowded bar.

“What can I get you tonight?” asks Katsuki as he grabs his shaker and a glass.

“A hello kiss, and maybe a dance?” comes the voice of the man Katsuki’s in love with and his eyes go wide as he raises his head to see Izuku with that cheeky grin.

“Baby, you’re here!” exclaims Katsuki happily as he immediately rushes out from behind the bar to hug Izuku tightly, lifting him up by the waist.

Izuku wraps his legs around Katsuki’s waist and uses his hands to guide Katsuki into a soft, reuniting kiss that is just as sweet as the cherry chapstick Izuku loves so much.

“Hey there handsome, sorry we’re late.” whispers Izuku happily when he pulls back, resting his forehead against Katsuki’s.

“I’m just glad you’re back, now where’s Inko? I gotta tell her hi.” says Katsuki with a hum as he quickly pecks Izuku on the lips before setting him back on the ground.

“I’m right over here, Katsuki, come give me a hug!” calls Inko and Katsuki finds her at their reserved table with Camie dropping off some nachos at the table.

Katsuki takes Izuku’s hand in his and lets Izuku guide him over to Inko. He’s quick to hug his future mother-in-law and kiss her cheek softly in hello.

“It’s good to see you, Inko. I hope you two had fun today!” says Katsuki charmingly, voice a little hoarse because he’d had to get onto some people earlier.

“We did, we went to some garage sales, and we found some amazing things for good deals. Izuku will have to show you his finds later, but how was your day?” asks Inko softly, knowingly as she picks up her glass of ice water.

“It was productive, we did a thorough cleaning of the bar, and I mowed our yard too. Not as fun as what you two did, that’s for sure.” replies Katsuki with a sheepish grin as Izuku takes his seat and pulls him over with their intertwined hands.

“Are you too busy to dance with me some, Kats?” asks Izuku with a pretty pout on his lips that Katsuki can never ignore.

“Camie can handle the bar for one dance, bunny. But only one, for now, okay?” replies Katsuki as he cups Izuku’s face with his free hand, thumb rubbing over the splatter of constellations on his cheek.

“Yay, let’s go dance!” squeals Izuku happily as Inko picks up a loaded nacho chip.

Katsuki is dragged onto the dance floor, like he is every time Izuku comes to the bar, and they sway to a slower song. Katsuki’s head is leaned forward, his hands wrapped around Izuku’s waist, their chests pressed tightly together as Izuku lays his head against Katsuki’s shoulder. They sway together for the entirety of the song in the middle space between the tables and the bar.

When the song ends, Katsuki walks Izuku back to his designated table, brushes a soft kiss to his lips, and heads back behind the bar to do his job. He checks the time as he walks past their clock and sees that he has about an hour before the song plays to lead into his plan. His hands are beginning to sweat, but he still does what he does best. Serves drinks and sasses the drunks being assholes. Inasa throws our five drunks before the starting chords of Change Your Name starts to play.

“Go get ready, I’ve got the bar.” whispers Camie softly as Izuku immediately stands up by the table, his back to the bar as he sings along to the song and sways in his place.

“Thanks, Camie.” replies Katsuki just as softly as he makes his way around the bar.

Katsuki leans against the empty barstool and watches Izuku for a minute, smiling softly as he moves over to Inko to sing with her. He catches Inasa holding up his phone as his hand reaches into the apron he has on for the small ring box. It’s not much, a simple sage green and burnt orange gem tungsten ring. As the final words begin to play, Katsuki walks over to Izuku, and he taps Izuku’s shoulder.

“Yes… Kats?” asks Izuku confusedly as his brows scrunch together when he spins around at the touch.

“Hey, baby, you know I love you very much, right? With everything I have.” says Katsuki with a soft smile on his lips, nerves making his voice shake just a little.

“Of course, I do. And you know I love you just as much. What’s going on, baby?” asks Izuku softly, confusion mixing with worry as he reaches his hands out to cup Katsuki’s voice.

“Well, when I first met you, it was in this very bar a year ago. You had me so enamored that I couldn’t even serve you, and when I did manage to talk to you, ya sassed me like it was nobody’s business. You’d had a rough night that only seemed to get worse until you got yourself some sleep. You weren’t against my advances, but you were hesitant as you freaked out about me messaging you so late. Do you remember what I said?” asks Katsuki quietly, he’s rambling a little bit because this is so important to him.

“You told me to tell you that I wouldn’t stay away forever, that I’d let you get to know me, and I’d call you if I needed you or just wanted to talk. You told me to tell you that you weren’t the only one feeling this, that your advances were okay.” replies Izuku with the softest smile, the one Katsuki loves to see on his lips.

“I did, and then you walked out of my life the next day. You told me everything that was going on, and I was so mad that you were being treated that way. But I didn’t expect to hear from you again, until you called me in tears. I knew I had to come to you, and I did. You were so scared that you’d run me off, but all I knew was that I wanted to get to know you better.” says Katsuki softly as he take a knee, watching Izuku’s mouth drop open as he pulls out the ring box and opens it. “I told you I wanna take that heart of yours and trade it with mine. I’ll give you time, but I just want you to know I wanna make you mine. And that is as true today as it was then. I still want to know everything about you, and I want to be the one to give you everything you should’ve had. Izuku Midoriya, will you marry me?”

It’s silent for a minute, Katsuki can feel everyone’s eyes on them, but his eyes are locked on those glassy eyes that are welling with tears as Izuku’s hand covers his mouth. But then Izuku’s falling to his own knees to pull Katsuki into a kiss, and he’s whispering, “Yes, yes, yes, I’ll marry you, yes!” against Katsuki’s lips. When Izuku pulls back, Katsuki slips the ring on his finger and stands with him.

“He said yes!” cheers Katsuki as he hugs Izuku tightly, then he’s being kissed hard.

“I love you so much, and I can’t wait to marry you.” says Izuku fiercely, love pouring from him.

“I love you with everything I have, and I’m gonna marry the fuck outta you, bunny.” whispers Katsuki softly as he brushes their noses together, happier than he’s ever been in his life.

“Hold the fuck up! You are not actually going to marry that plain ass wannabe!” screeches a voice that has Izuku flinching in Katsuki’s hold.

“Oh wow, I never expected Katsuki to want my sloppy, worthless seconds.” sneers another voice that has Katsuki glaring as he catches sight of them.

Shindo and Ochako.

“Camie, the assholes are here. Come get some!” calls Katsuki as he glares at them before he turns and guides Izuku to Inko, his voice dropping to a whisper. “Stay with you mom, bunny, I’ll get them outta here.”

Izuku nods as he falls into a hug with his mom, and Katsuki turns to Shindo and Ochako as Camie joins him.

“Get the fuck out of my bar before I make you, and if you say something about my beautiful bunny again, we’re going to resort to violence.” sneers Katsuki as he and Camie step into Shindo and Ochako’s space, Inasa handed the phone off to Aizawa and takes his place behind them.

“You’re trying to marry that worthless piece of shit. I can make my opinion known, Katsuki.” snaps Shindo as he steps forward into Katsuki’s space, smirking.

“You could’ve had me, but you chose that plain, disgusting-” Ochako starts to speak, but Camie’s slapping her across the face before she can finish her insult.

“Don’t talk ‘bout our Greenie like that bitch!” snarls Camie as she towers over Ochako who’s landed on her behind.

“You wanna say something and get beat down too, or do you want to try to have some dignity left?” asks Katsuki with a challenging smirk.

“He’s just a hole too-” starts Shindo, but Katsuki swings before he can even continue with his demeaning insult, knocking Shindo to the ground with a hook.

“Don’t talk about my fiancé ever again.” sneers Katsuki before he nods at Camie and Inasa, turning away as they take out the trash.

“I love you so much, Katsuki Bakugou.” says Izuku reverently as he practically jumps at Katsuki, wrapping his arms and legs around him.

“I love you so fucking much, Izuku Midoriya.” whispers Katsuki into Izuku’s neck before Izuku’s pulling back to kiss him again.

They hold each other close, foreheads leaned against each other as the bar cheers around them.

I am so glad I went on that drive.

I am so glad he came into my bar.

In this very bar, surrounded by drunks of people Katsuki knew and out of towners like Izuku, they found each other for the first time. And as they stand here again, they know this is the love they were meant to find, and they found it in each other.
