Takemichi's Insecurities.

Summary:

Takemichi sat alone on a park bench, her thoughts swirling with insecurities. Being the tallest girl in her class had always been a challenge for her. The constant teasing and remarks from her peers about her height had taken a toll on her self-esteem. It seemed like no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't escape the feeling of being judged solely based on her appearance.

Notes:

I wanted one story to be fluff and slight angst and I wanted another one to go in a different direction so I added both :)

Work Text:

Takemichi sat alone on a park bench, her thoughts swirling with insecurities. Being the tallest girl in her class had always been a challenge for her. The constant teasing and remarks from her peers about her height had taken a toll on her self-esteem. It seemed like no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't escape the feeling of being judged solely based on her appearance.

But what hurt her even more were the experiences she had with her previous partners. Each time she entered a relationship, she hoped that they would accept her for who she was, but she was repeatedly proven wrong. They would cheat on her with someone shorter, using the same lame excuse every time: "I don't like girls that are taller than me," or "My guy friends tease me for having a taller girlfriend." It seemed like her height was always a barrier, preventing her from finding true love and acceptance.

Now, Takemichi found herself in a relationship with Sano Manjiro, also known as Mikey. He was shorter than her, standing at 5'3". Initially, she was hesitant to pursue a relationship with him, fearing that her height would be an issue once again. But Mikey was different. He never made her feel self-conscious about her height, and he embraced her just the way she was.

As their relationship progressed, Takemichi couldn't help but notice how Mikey's friends would tease him about being with a taller girl. They would make jokes and laugh, but Mikey always brushed it off with a smile. However, the doubts still lingered in Takemichi's mind. She worried that he might slowly start resenting her for being taller than him.

One evening, as they strolled hand in hand through the park, Takemichi mustered up the courage to share her insecurities with Mikey. They found a quiet spot under a cherry blossom tree, its delicate pink petals falling around them like confetti.

"Mikey," Takemichi began, her voice quivering slightly. "I can't help but worry sometimes. Your friends, they tease you about being with a taller girl, and I'm afraid it might bother you too."

Mikey turned to face her, his warm brown eyes filled with sincerity. He gently cupped her face and spoke softly, "Takemichi, I want you to know that I love you for who you are. Your height has never been an issue for me. I've been teased about it, sure, but that's just what friends do. It's just harmless banter, nothing more. What matters to me is our connection, our love, and the way you make me feel."

Takemichi's eyes welled up with tears as she listened to his heartfelt words. She realised that Mikey saw beyond the physical aspects and valued the person she was inside. His acceptance and love gave her the strength to confront her insecurities and let go of the painful past.

From that day forward, Takemichi decided to embrace her height as a part of who she was. She stopped letting the opinions of others define her worth and focused on nurturing her relationship with Mikey. Their love continued to blossom, and Takemichi realised that true happiness came from being loved unconditionally, without judgement or prejudice.

Takemichi learned that her height was not a flaw but a unique attribute that made her who she was. And Mikey, with his unwavering love, helped her see that being taller didn't make her any less deserving of love and happiness.

◈ ━━━━━━ ⸙ ━━━━━━ ◈

Takemichi had always been self-conscious of her height, standing tall and proud at 5'9", which made her the tallest girl in her class. Unfortunately, her height had become a source of ridicule and heartache for her.

In her previous relationships, Takemichi had always faced the same frustrating scenario. Her partners would cheat on her with shorter girls and use the lame excuse, "I don't like girls who are taller than me." It seemed like a broken record, and it shattered Takemichi's confidence each time.

However, fate had a peculiar way of playing its cards. Takemichi found herself in a relationship with Sano Manjiro, affectionately known as Mikey. He was an incredible guy, but there was one small catch—he was shorter than her, standing at 5'3". This brought back all the insecurities Takemichi had buried deep inside.

Mikey's friends would often tease him about being with a taller girl. They'd say things like, "Hey, Mikey, how's the weather up there?" or "Dude, are you sure she won't dunk on you during a basketball game?" Mikey would simply laugh it off, not letting the remarks get to him. But little did Takemichi know, this bothered Mikey in a different way.

One evening, as they strolled through a park hand in hand, Takemichi summoned the courage to share her feelings with Mikey. She confessed, "Mikey, I've been feeling insecure about my height. I'm afraid you'll start to hate me because I'm so much taller than you."

Mikey stopped in his tracks, his eyes wide with surprise. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He gently held Takemichi's hands and looked deeply into her eyes. "Takemichi, I can't believe you've been feeling this way all this time. Let me tell you something—I adore your height! I love looking up at you; it makes me feel safe. Your height is part of what makes you unique, and I wouldn't change it for the world."

Takemichi blinked, her heart fluttering with hope and confusion. "Really? You're not bothered by it?"

Mikey smiled warmly. "Not at all! In fact, I find it hilarious when my friends tease me. They don't understand the beauty of having a taller girlfriend. And as for our future, I've been planning something even crazier. Takemichi, I want to marry you one day. I want to stand beside you, no matter the height difference."

Takemichi's eyes welled up with tears of joy, and a smile bloomed on her face. She realized that she had been worrying needlessly all this time. Her insecurities had blinded her from seeing Mikey's true feelings.
