Hob wakes up to a blindfold and gag, his arms and legs tied to a chair. What? He shakes his bleary head, trying to remember how he got here. Last he remembers, he was at the pub waiting for Morpheus to show up for their weekly visit… a bunch of rough sorts had come in. He’d gotten up to deal with them. They settled down so he went back to grading and sipping his tea. Oh. Oh, maybe they’d put something in his tea.
But the staff will call the police, surely it won’t be long.
“Oh you’re awake, are you? Heh. Probably dreaming about rescue already. Hah! Well don’t worry, we know what we’re doing and we’ve covered our tracks well. They’re not going to find you.”
Dreaming of rescue… Dream! Surely Morpheus will be able to find him. Hob relaxes against his bonds. It’s just a matter of time, and probably not too much of it either.
“Given up already, have you? What?!? Who are you? What’s that in your hand? Ah! Sand?!”
Hob perks up as he hears the thud of suddenly sleeping bodies hitting the floor.
“Hob! Just, give me a minute.”
Hob feels gentle tugs as his eyes, mouth and limbs are released by his heart’s love.
“Thank you, Morpheus.”
He smiles brilliantly, taking Morpheus’ solemnly held out hand, and with a swirl of sand, they are gone.
