Work Text:

Cellbit was looking around the dining room of his castle making sure everything was ready and perfect.

He was nervous. He was so very nervous. Why the fuck was he nervous? It was just dinner with Roier! But it wasn’t just that.

It was his first official date with the love of his life, his fiancé. He smiled to himself while shaking his head slightly. So much about this situation should have been crazy. For example, usually the first date was before you got engaged. But it wasn’t. Not really. It was kinda perfect. And he had been right when he talked about how they never knew how much time they had left with each other.

On this island, anything could happen. Getting kidnapped really made that clear. When Cucurucho took him, he had been so scared he would never see the people he loved again. Never see Roier again. And never be able to tell him how he really feels.

But he was back now. He got a second chance and he wasn’t gonna waste it. So he was quite happy that Richarlyson kinda instigated this whole marriage thing because Cellbit probably would not have had the guts to do it on his own.

And that was precisely at least one of the reasons he was so very nervous right now. Sure they both had spent a lot of time together and always flirted a lot and they have had their moments and they were engaged

But still, this was different.

They both knew they loved each other. Of course they did. But up until right before Cellbit disappeared everything was mostly silly and lighthearted between them. And unspoken. Even the proposal was… not quite like the usual proposal.

But now there was also the letter Cellbit left. The unspoken words from the day Roier told him how lonely he was finally written down. His confession out of fear of never having the chance to actually say it out loud.

Cellbit didn’t even know if Roier read it. They hadn’t really had a real chance to talk since he was back. Especially not in private. There was the engagement on the rooftop and the promise of a real date. And then he hadn’t seen Roier ever since.

But today was the day and he was so nervous! But it also wasn’t the bad kind of nervousness. Not the kind you get when you infiltrate the organization that wants your kids dead.

It's the kind that makes your heartbeat more intense, that makes your palms sweaty and gives you butterflies in your stomach. The exciting kind.

He ruffled his hair into place like he had done already about a hundred times and probably would continue to do through the night. He made sure his suit was looking right. He had asked Jaiden for advice for the date because she probably knew Roier best and she had said he liked men in suits so Cellbit went with it. He did look good in a suit even if it wasn’t quite what he usually wore.

And then he heard the elevator at the entrance of his castle and a “Gatinho! I’m here!” from his date. “Guapito!” A bright smile pushed away his nervousness.

The date was perfect. It wasn’t awkward, it wasn’t weird. It felt like this was just the way it was supposed to be. It was so easy and felt so natural. They joked, they talked, they laughed and they ate Roier’s favorite food that Cellbit had made upon Jaiden’s recommendation. Cellbit couldn’t have been happier.

When he looked out the door and saw that the sun was getting low his eyes went wide. He had totally lost track of time! So he jumped up from his chair, only startling Roier a little bit. The older grabbed his partner's hand and pulled the surprised man with him.

“Guapito! Come! Come!” Cellbit insisted already halfway up the staircase.

“What's going on, gatinho?” Roier laughed confused.

“I want to show you something! You have to follow me to my bedroom!”

Roier stopped with a teasing smile. “Gatinho! Are you trying to seduce me?”

“What?!” Cellbit whipped around, a shocked look and red blush running across his face. But he caught himself and the nervousness quickly turned into a smirk. “Not right now, guapito. Maybe later.” He winked at Roier who honestly hadn’t quite expected this and turned slightly red as well.

Cellbit laughed but his smile softened when he offered his hand to Roier. “I really wanna show you something though.” Roier smiled back and took the offered hand.

The two walked together with Cellbit leading the way until they reached the end of the stairs to the bedroom. The room opened up and they could finally see the door to the balcony.

“When we built this castle and this room I specifically wanted this part of the roof to become a balcony. Not only the view is amazing but also the sunset.” Cellbit led Roier through the arch onto the balcony he had decorated with a bench, flowers and candles.

He nervously looked at Roier who had been quiet since they had set foot outside. There was a smile on his face and tears glistening in his eyes while he was just looking at the starting sunset.

Cellbit squeezed his hand slightly with a worried smile. “Are you ok, guapito?”

Roier took his eyes off the sun and looked at his partner. “Did you do all this for me?”

Cellbit smiled and wiped away the first fallen tear from Roier’s cheek. "Of course." Cellbit knew this was a side of Roier not a lot of people got to see. The vulnerable side. And he felt honored that the younger trusted him enough to show it to him.

“Thank you, gatinho. This is perfect. All of it.” It was more a whisper than anything else when Roier looked back at the sunset.

Cellbit navigated them towards the bench where they watched the sunset in comfortable silence, Roier leaning his head on Cellbit’s shoulder while their hands stayed intertwined.

They sat there like this for a while even after the sun was gone. The conversation started when the stars were already shining bright from the sky. They talked about everything and nothing, joking and laughing, just enjoying the night and each other.

It was quiet here at the castle. It was a nice change of pace compared to the closer spawn area.

It was getting late when Roier stretched his arms. “I should probably go. But thank you for this night, gathino, for everything. It was just perfect.” Roier’s smile was so happy and full of love.

“What if you just stayed, guapito?” Cellbit had asked that question out loud before he could really think. He just really didn't want Roier to go.

The younger one looked a little surprised. “I mean... Do you really want me to stay?”

Cellbit blushed a little but grinned to play it off. “I did say I would seduce you later.” But he quickly became more sincere again. “I would really like you to stay. Only if you want to of course! I do have a big bed…”

Roier laughed. “I would love to stay, gathino.”

Roier didn’t know quite what it was but something woke him up in the middle of the night. When he looked to the other side of the bed Cellbit was gone. Of course he instantly got worried. After everything. His heart started to race with his thoughts. But he made sure to calm himself. It was probably fine. He probably just went to the kitchen to grab a glass of water or a midnight snack. Everything was fine.

Still, he got out of bed to see where his partner was.

***

When Cellbit woke up he was out of breath and had just entered the fourier of his castle. Everything was a bit foggy. Why was he here? How did he get here? He didn’t remember.

And then he looked down at his hands. It was hard to see in the dim light of the lanterns but they were clearly drenched in blood. As were his clothes.

His breath started to become shallow and his heartbeat faster. He was staring down at his shaking hands. Trying to understand what was going on. Trying to figure out what had happened.

But he couldn’t remember anything.

The panic grew with every second. His throat closed, the air felt heavy, he couldn’t breath. He didn’t know when he had sunk down to the floor still staring at the blood on his hands but he was kneeling in the middle of the fourier trying to remember something, anything . This couldn’t be happening. He had to remember. What did he do?

He knew the blood wasn’t his.

The last thing he remembered… oh no… the last thing he remembered was being happy, falling asleep next to Roier .

He couldn’t process that thought. His mind refused to even consider the possibility. So he sat there frozen, unable to move while his panic spiraled.

“Gatinho?” A familiar voice reached through the noise of Cellbits heartbeat.

Cellbit couldn’t react or answer. He didn’t see Roier running down the stairs with fear in his eyes. All he could do was look at his bloody hands.

“Cellbit” Roier had slowed down once he realized that it couldn’t be Cellbit’s blood that was all over him. He approached slowly so as to not startle a wild animal. Cellbit was still shaking and hyperventilating when Roier carefully crouched down.

He took Cellbit’s bloody hands in his and pushed them down gently. One hand reached up to his partner's chin to get him to stop looking at the red stains and look at him instead.

“Gatinho.” The warmth in Roier’s eyes finally let Cellbit take a deep breath and fill his lounge with air again. A first tear finally ran across his cheek.

“I… I… I don't know what happened.” He stumbled over his words while more tears were let loose. “It wasn’t me. Whatever I did I don’t remember anything, Roier. I just… Please believe me.” The fear in his voice almost broke Roiers heart.

“I believe you, Gatinho! Of course I believe you.” Roier was still holding his hands and stopping them from shaking. “I trust you. Always. I told you that before. I trust you one hundred percent. It's ok.” He had no idea if anything was ok. But he put all his trust in his fiancé into these words.

Cellbit’s breathing slowly started to calm down while looking at the familiar eyes of his love. It was ok. He was not alone anymore.

“Has this happened to you before?” Roier asked carefully.

He shook his head. “N-no. I have never had missing memories like this except for…” He paused his explanation when both of their eyes went wide in realization. And fear. They knew the federation did something to Cellbit. They just didn’t know what.

“The federation.” Cellbit spit out. The fear had turned into anger. He still didn’t know what happened or what he had done. Whose blood it was. But he knew who was responsible. The federation had made him do something for them. Again. They had taken over his body. It wasn’t him who did whatever he had done. They had manipulated his mind. He focused on that anger if just to not fall apart right here and now.

“This is it. I will find out what they did and stop them once and for all.”

The look on Cellbit’s face almost scared Roier. He put his now also bloody hand on the side of Cellbit’s face. “ We will figure this out. Together .”

Cellbit’s eyes softened as he looked at his partner. “Together. Gaupito. Thank you.”

Roier smiled a little. “But first let's get you cleaned up, gatinho.”
