Work Text:
Vax is used to dragging home drunks. Vex, many times, Gilmore about just as much. One he never expected to have to care for was Percival de Rolo of all people.
The party had gone out to a local tavern, and something was clearly irregular with Percy. The other may not have noticed it, but Vax tended to keep a more watchful eye. Percy ran through quite a few glasses of wine, loosening him up just enough to take up Grog and Pike’s challenge of finding out who could handle more liquor. Vex and Keyleth kept quiet much like Vax, being intrigued as they never had seen Percy’s limit before. They knew he was a heavier weight than most of them, being that it always took far more and far stronger to get him to the same level of inebriated as the rest of them. (Aside from Grog, of course…)
Percy did rather well for a while, and no one really stepped in to cut him off. Grog announced himself the winner after downing the remainder of the tray, but Percy certainly got in a good ten or more shots throughout the night. And some of those shots made a reappearance as they were getting ready to leave the bar, all over the floor.
Vax, being quite drunk himself, yet somehow the most capable in the party of taking care of anyone at the moment, took it upon himself to watch over Percy for the night. Percy was being rather clingy with Vax anyways, which he certainly didn’t mind.
As Vax opened the door to his room, guiding Percy in, Percy took it upon himself to immediately lie down in Vax’s bed, and Vax had to come adjust him to lay on his side. Vax sat down gingerly on the bed beside Percy.
“Doing alright there?” Vax asked quietly.
Percy groaned in response, burying his head into Vax’s pillow.
“Uh uh, don’t lay on your stomach. I don’t want you choking on your own puke.” Vax scolded, lifting Percy back to his side. Vax stood momentarily, about to turn out the light.
Percy reached out a hand, holding onto Vax’s arm.
“Stay here.” Percy slurred, at which Vax laughed a bit and nodded.
Vax reached to take off Percy’s glasses, and Percy raised up in attempts to connect their lips. Vax gently pushed on Percy’s chest to make him lie back down.
“Ah-” Vax turned a slight shade of red in the dark of the room. “Not while you’re drunk, okay?”
“I am too greedy.” Percy slurred, frowning.
Vax raised an eyebrow, but didn’t comment.
“One of the many horrible things about me.” Percy mumbled, speaking just barely coherently at this point.
Vax opened his mouth to speak. Percy then proceeded to vomit on his own clothes. Vax left the room quickly to get a bucket and a rag to help clean up, and when he came back, found that Percy had discarded all of his clothes onto the floor and was lying down again, thankfully under Vax’s covers now.
Vax took the clothes to wash, leaving Percy with some spare clothing of his own for when he woke up. He helped clean up Percival as best he could. As Percy had occupied his bed, Vax sat on the side and rubbed his back gently until he fell asleep, then moving to sit in an armchair nearby to rest a bit himself. Conversation could be had later.

“Oh gods…” Percy grumbled, and Vax sat up in his chair.
“Morning, sunshine.” Vax teased. “I had to check if you still had a pulse a couple times.”
“I didn’t do anything horrendous did I?” Percy asked, clearly concerned. His face was shifting to a slight pink. “Also I hate to have to ask, but where are my clothes?”
“They’re hanging to dry at the moment. You threw up in them and then discarded them so rudely on my floor.” Vax stated.
Percy nodded slowly, processing. “I am sorry you had to deal with me like that.”
“Freddie, I promise you I have seen worse. You’re fine.” Vax laughed slightly. “The clothes there on the table are for you until yours are clean.”
“Could you… recount to me what happened last night? Last I remember I idiotically accepted a drinking game challenge and Grog almost ate a serving tray.” Percy mumbled as he was searching the nightstand for his glasses.
Vax got up from his seat and put on Percy’s glasses, not missing the hint of pink that returned to the white haired man’s cheeks as he grazed the side of his face with his fingertips. He recounted most of what happened the night prior, leaving out some things that would particularly embarrass him. For now, at least.
“I see…” Percy looked at Vax apologetically. “Thank you for caring for me. I am sorry you had to.”
Vax shook his head. “It’s fine. Get dressed and I’ll go check on breakfast.”
Percy obeyed as the door shut, his mind swimming around the familiarity of Vax placing his glasses on his face. Realization hit him as Vax opened the door with a plate of food.
Percy returned to sit on Vax’s bed, picking at the food he was offered. Vax raised an eyebrow watching him.
“Something wrong with the food?” Vax asked.
“Um. No, not at all. It’s just uh-“ Percy fidgeted with his-well, Vax’s shirt hem. “I’d still like that kiss, if that’s alright?” Percy avoided eye contact.
Vax held back a laugh, knowing Percy was already horrendously embarrassed. “I’m shocked you remember that. Yes, that is perfectly alright. After you brush your teeth, that is.”
Percy practically bolted to the bathroom, leaving Vax laughing. He hoped Percy would be “greedy” like this more often.
