Summary
Twenty years after Buffy Summers changed slayer lore and imbued potentials worldwide with the power to fight the forces of darkness, the world has turned against them. The authorities and systemic powers see them as a threat to be contained - females with that kind of strength terrify them - and now the US has initiated a lockdown order to halt their movement. All slayers must be registered with the joint councils and undergo regular assessments. Trials akin to Salem are being used to identify those who try to remain independent. Companies vie for government contracts to develop drugs and tech that can subdue them.
Ryan just wants to continue the hunt for Mama's killer. She doesn't want to get dragged into the fight for slayer freedoms. She definitely does not want to be stuck in Gotham City with a bunch of strangers who know more about her and what's going on than they first let on, and especially not that drop dead gorgeous, annoying, cocky ass woman who keeps showing up at crucial times. She doesn't do ties that bind, doesn't stay put in one place. There's too much that could catch up with her if she does.
