After moving Sapnap into Karls and the reveal, life went back to being relatively normal except that Punz was still staying at Foolish’s place. He was also aware that Foolish tended to be a bit oblivious. Ironically enough it made his feelings more obvious. So Punz was stuck in limbo. He liked Foolish and he was pretty sure he knew Foolish liked him. The problem was that Foolish didn’t know he liked Punz. Well some subconscious part of him had to know but the point still stood that Foolish had yet to figure it out. The other issue was that all their friends could see it and the constant teasing was starting to get to Punz. It would be bearable if only Foolish would acknowledge it. “I’m literally going to die.” He moaned and flung his body back in his chair dramatically. He had been lamenting this to Sapnap while neither of them was streaming and Foolish had interrupted them by bringing a plate of takeout and handing it to Punz with a kiss on his forehead as he left. Sapnap just stared blankly at the screen.
“Dude… are you sure you’re not dating him?” Punz groaned again and covered his face.
“Didn’t you just hear what I told you? We aren’t.”
Sapnap leaned forward and was about to speak when Karl appeared, wrapping his arms sapnaps chest and resting his chin on his head.
“Whatcha talking about?” Sap leaned back into Karl’s embrace.
“Just how Foolish is dating Punz without realizing it.” Karl hummed in thought before a mischievous smirk spread across his face. Oh no Punz had seen that smile and nothing good ever came out of it.
“We’ve gotta go now Punzie poo but I’m sure you’ll hear from us later!” And with that the call dropped and Punz was left staring at his discord screen. Foolish entered then, glancing between the empty call and Punz.
“Umm weren’t you going to play valorant with Sap?”
“I was until Karl dragged him away.”
“Oh well. I was thinking about streaming if you wanna join?”
“You know I’m always up for streaming with you, baby.” Foolish grinned and shoved Punz over pulling up his chair and setting up his stream. Any thoughts about Karl’s scheming face were pushed back as Foolish wrapped an arm around Punz’s shoulder.
And then Foolish’s stream when he had cockroaches and had enlisted Punz to help happened. Gumi was teasing him as per usual however the teasing seemed to be more geared towards Foolish dating Punz. Gumi was known for joking about that but something about the way she was talking made him pause a little. Her teasing was more about his needing Punz’s help rather than the actual relationship part. But that was implied right? And then Punz hit one of the bugs and it splattered and he forgot about it.
Twitter was the second place he noticed it with the “himbros” tag suddenly gaining more and more traction. So the fans had also noticed it. Fuck.
It was during one of their many brunches that Punz began to think that maybe… maybe Sap and Karl had been onto something. Foolish had heard about this new place from Karl and eager to try it dragged Punz along with him as per usual. At first things seemed to be going fine, the food was good, they chatted easily and then a new waitress was assigned to their table. Suddenly Punz was getting a lot more attention. Her gaze lingered, she checked in on him specifically more than Foolish, and maybe Foolish didn’t notice it but Punz sure did. As he shifted uncomfortably, Foolish frowned.
“What's wrong? Is it not good?” Punz smiled ruefully.
“No no it’s great, I just-“ he broke off unsure of how to bring it up. Thankfully Foolish didn’t push him, just simply reached across the table to grab his hand waiting patiently for him to continue. “The waitress is making me a little uncomfortable okay?” Again Foolish frowned.
“Really? I didn’t notice anything.” Punz shrugged.
“Maybe I’m misreading something but uh I think she’s been flirting with me.” Foolish glanced around before focusing solely on Punz again.
“Oh, well that sucks. Did you want to get this to go?” Punz nodded gratefully and Foolish turned to wave over a server asking for the check and a box. It was the waitress who ended up bringing the boxes over and as she did she handed Punz a napkin with a number and a smiley face. Foolish leaned over to pick the napkin and hold it up to the girl with a smile. “Sorry but he’s not interested.” She looked shocked, wide eyed staring first at Foolish then over to Punz who flushed and averted his gaze. When he looked back over he noticed she was looking between the two of them with an odd look on her face before scurrying away. It was as they went to get up that Punz realized Foolish was still holding his hand. Foolish only let go once they reached the counter and pulled out his card to pay before Punz could argue. As he was standing waiting for Foolish by the door another waitress approached him.
“Hey, I’m really sorry about Emily. I talked to her about professionalism and I just wanted to say that you two are an adorable couple. Please let us know if you return and we’ll give you a discount for the inconvenience.” And with that she bounced away to greet another couple who had just walked in. Foolish appeared then, looking wary.
“What was that about?” Punz shrugged.
“I’m not sure, something about apologizing for the other waitress and giving us a discount if we come back.” He really hoped Foolish wouldn’t comment on his flushed face. Foolish just nodded and placed his hand on Punz’s back to lead him to the car.
And then Sapnaps YouTube video happened. He should have known not to agree to be in it; however, he did need to get back to Florida and it was a free ride. And suddenly he was stuck in Jimmy’s Tesla with Foolish and all their friends for 12 hours. Everything was fine, it was great even. He avoided sitting right next to Foolish but still close enough that it wasn’t weird. It was during the part when Quackity and Karl swapped places that things got out of hand. As Karl was climbing in he stopped with a shit eating grin to glance over at Punz.
“You wanna come sit here next to your boyfriend? I can totally sit in the back.” Punz shook his head but as Karl shut the door and they took off, Foolish spoke up.
“Boyfriend? What are you talking about Karl?” Before Karl could speak though Quackity just had to go and open his damn mouth.
“Uh you? Like you don’t have to hide it bro it’s obvious.”
“What?” Foolish choked out.
“Yeah dude like even us on the beast crew know about you guys and we won’t tell anyone.” Nolan piped up.
“What- how- but I’m not dating anyone?”
Nolan stared and Quackity peered back at him with a disbelieving gaze through the mirror.
“What do you mean you’re not dating? I literally thought you and Punz had been together longer than Karl and Sap.”
Foolish blinked. “What dude no! I’m definitely not and have NOT dated Punz.” He made a face and Punz felt his heart drop because in all the teasing that had happened in the months prior Foolish had never come out and said no that adamantly. He turned to face the window, pulling up his hood and hoping his face didn’t show the heartbreak he was currently feeling as the car fell silent.
“Uh dude did Punz know that?” Nolan said quietly breaking the silence but not the tension. And then Karl was shooting Sapnap a look, who in turn whispered something to Quackity who immediately pulled off at the next exit. No one spoke as they pulled into a charging station and suddenly Karl was thrusting a card at Foolish shouting something about plugging it in and then only Punz and Foolish were left. Punz remained silent while Foolish got out and plugged the car in before joining Punz in the back.
“Did you- did you really think we were dating?” Foolish was the first to break and Punz sighed. There was no point in hiding anything anymore.
“No I mean I had hoped you’d consider it seeing as you called me pet names and cuddled me and even took me out to nice restaurants a few times. But it’s fine I get it you’re not into me and I’m sorry.” Foolish stared at him and Punz had to force himself not to cry and then lips were pressed to his. He had to be dreaming because what? Foolish pulled back somewhat shyly.
“I never said that. I just said that we hadn’t been dating. But I guess looking back on it we have.” Now it was Punz’s turn to gape. “So Luke, would you do the honor of officially being my boyfriend?”
“Only if you promise not to call me Luke again… Noah.” Foolish made a face but Punz could stop himself from reaching out and pulling the other to his chest and pressing their lips together again. He wasn’t sure how much time had passed until they were interrupted by a door opening and Karl yelling something about not fucking in Jimmy’s car, and they pulled apart to smile at each other before turning to face the chaos that was suddenly ensuing in the car. Quackity grinned from the passenger seat.
“So Foolish, what were you saying about not dating anyone?” Foolish grinned and pulled Punz closer to his side.
“Shut up Quackity.” Punz felt his heart swell as he watched his friends tease each other. Leaning back against the man beside him, he knew that things would be okay.
