Work Text:

One of the biggest changes that has happened since the attack on the compound was the growing relationship between the two families. Obviously things were better between the families business wise since Porsche worked very closely with Kinn. What wasn’t expected was the bonding between the family members. About three months after the attack Porsche and Pete had forced Kinn and Vegas to sit down and talk things out. While they were a long way from being close they now had an understanding between them and agreed to stop working against each other. This agreement was made stronger since Vegas had agreed to work directly with Porsche and help him when he didn’t know how to handle a situation.

What hadn’t been expected was that Tankhun and Macau started to really get along. Despite the fact that they had both found the other obnoxious and annoying for years, thirty minutes of talking was all it took for Tankhun to practically claim Macau as his new little brother. It was soon determined that they both have the same chaotic energy and balanced the other quite well. Tankhun constantly told Vegas that he was going to steal his brother. Tankhun still didn’t like Vegas, especially since he claims that he stole Pete from him. The first time Pete came back to the compound Tankhun tried to have him locked up until he agreed to come back. They had talked Tankhun down and Pete explained that while he wasn’t coming back he would always just be a call away if Tankhun really needed him. So really the relationships between the families were definitely better which everyone would admit made things a lot easier. The only one that didn’t really like it was Korn. Porsche thought that Korn should shove his opinion up his ass but decided against voicing his opinion.

Currently Porsche, Kinn and Vegas were walking down the halls of the compound, having just gotten back from a meeting with the new head of the Italian family. Things were actually going smoothly and they got done with the meeting almost an hour before they expected. They are walking through the residential part of the compound when Vegas stops mid step after glancing into the room. Kinn almost runs into him and glares at him.

“Vegas, what-”

“Shhhh. Kinn, look at this.”

Kinn raises an eyebrow at Vegas’ hushed tone but peaks into the room.

“Holy shit.”

Porsche looks at the two of them with confusion. He peaks into the room and is even more confused. They are looking into one of the many large sitting rooms in the compound, this one having stairs leading down to a bunch of couches and chairs. He sees Chay and Kim sitting down together, deep in conversation. Porsche doesn’t know much about Kim but he knew that He and Chay had a lot of shared interests and talked quite a bit. Porsche turns back to the other two and raises a brow at Kinn.

“What are we looking at?”

“Kim.”

“Yes, I see your brother in there. What about him?”

“He’s smiling.”

“So?”

Porsche really didn’t understand. He hears Kinn sigh.

“Kim usually doesn’t show any kind of emotion. And when he does it’s anger or annoyance. I don’t think I have seen him smile in almost a decade.”

Porsche can’t help but feel a little sad. He knows that no one in the Theerapanyakun family had a normal childhood but he is always shocked when he gets little details. He gives Kinn and Vegas a sad look and places a hand on Kinn’s shoulder.

“What are we being all whispery about?”

The three of them almost jump and turn to see Tankhun and Macau standing behind them. They were being uncharacteristically quiet and had actually managed to sneak up on them. Kinn looks at his older brother.

“Kim is in there.”

“What about-”

Tankhun stops mid sentence when a laugh rings out. Tankhun practically shoves the others out of his way so that he can look into the room, Macau following closely behind.

“What the fuck.”

“Macau, language.”

Macau just waves off his brother and looks at the other.

“So we’re all in agreement that Kim is possessed right?”

Tankhun lightly wacks Macau on the head. He then exchanges a look with Kinn.

“He looks so happy, Kinn. I can’t remember the last time I heard him laugh. And he is smiling, actually smiling!”

Tankhun leans back to look back into the room and a sad smile takes over his face. He looks at Porsche with tears in his eyes.

“Your brother has to be magic. He broke through Kim’s walls like it was nothing.”

“Yeah, Chay tends to have that effect on people.”

Tankhun smiles and is about to lean back to the room when Vegas grabs the sleeve of his jacket. He ignores the glares he receives and looks at Kinn and Tankhun.

“We should leave him be. It is great that someone was able to make him show anything other than anger or annoyance but I think we all know that he will be one of those if he finds us spying on him.”

It’s obvious that both Kinn and Tankhun want to argue but they can both see the point that Vegas is making. They all try to be as quiet as possible while they walk past the room. They try to move on with the day. Later it seems that Tankhun managed to convince Kim to stay for dinner. Porsche couldn’t help but notice how down Kinn and Tankhun looked since Kim was back to showing his normal amount of expression. He hadn’t really seen what the big deal was until now. Kim practically shows no emotion, something that he surely trained himself to do to survive in this household. Now that he thought about it, today was one of the only times that he had seen Kim show anything at all. Really the only other time he could think of was when Kim had been at the warehouse when Tawan kidnapped Chay. And then it had been pure rage. It honestly made Porsche sad, not just for Kinn and Tankhun but for Kim as well. It wasn’t right that Kim felt the need to force himself not to show anything on his face. Unfortunately, Porsche didn’t think that there could be anything done to help.

Porsche spends a good amount of dinner watching Kim out of the corner of his eye. Kim doesn’t talk a lot, only giving his opinion if he is asked if he has any input. Then Porsche sees Chay lean towards Kim and say something quiet enough that Porsche couldn’t make out. And for a fraction of a second a tiny smile appears on Kim’s face. It disappears just as fast as it appeared and he quietly responds to Chay.

Porsche catches Tankhun’s eyes and he can tell that he saw it as well. Porsche purses his lips together. He had done what he could to make sure that Chay wasn’t involved with the family, really only being okay with Chay interaction with the family members and some trusted guards. And even then he always insisted that there was no business talk when Chay was around. However, Porsche is now realizing that he may have to let up a little on how involved Chay was. It was clear that for whatever reason Kim had decided to let his walls down around Chay. Porsche had known that they talked quite a bit but he hadn’t realized that they were actually becoming friends.

Porsche was fine with this, having a friend in the family was clearly good for Chay. And now that he thinks about it Chay came out of his slump that he had been in when he started spending time with Kim. Really the only issue Porsche has is that he can’t control what they talk about. If there is one thing that Porsche knows about Kim is that you can’t control what he does. So Porsche has no way of making sure that Kim doesn’t discuss any mafia business around Chay. Though Porsche doubts he will since Kim himself isn’t really involved unless he is really needed.

Porsche catches another tiny smile right as he feels a hand squeeze his knee. He looks at Kinn and places his hand on top of Kinn’s. Kinns eyes flick over to Kim and Chay which lets Porsche know that he noticed everything as well. Porsche gives a subtle nod silently promising that he would encourage Chay to spend more time with Kim if it helped him open up. Kinn smiles and pecks Porsche’s lips, which causes Macua to complain about PDA.

Meanwhile, Tankhun had been watching Kim and Chay the entire night. He had always found their relationship interesting. Clearly they somehow knew each other before Chay started staying at the compound. He had been suspicious when Kim barged ahead when Chay was kidnapped and Chay had an interesting reaction when he was shown a picture of Kim, he wasn’t as subtle as he thought. Not to mention that the scene with the dead bodies at Hum bar had Kim written all over it. He had immediately noticed when they started talking, they both seemed to have a huge weight taken off of them. And now Tankhun was certain that something was going on. Don’t get him wrong, Chay was a wonderful person to be around, he was sweet and cheery and really easy to talk to. But none of that how easily Kim seemed to let his walls down around him. Something was going on between the two but Tankhun wasn’t sure what it was just yet.

Tankhun felt that one of his feet had fallen asleep and got up and walked around to get the feeling back. When he walks behind the two he swears that Kim has his hand resting on Chay’s thigh. Interesting.

Notes:

So this story was a little lacking in the dialog department but I think it turned out fine with out it. I hope you guys enjoyed this story. I have four other one-shots in the works and another longer chapter that will hopefully come out in the next few weeks.
