“There he is again,” Kiet swoons, his gaze fixed on the crowd of parents waiting for their pups. “Never misses a day, that one.”

“Him,” the Omega points at a guy standing off center in the crowd. “Tall guy, black hair, blue button down tucked in his denim jeans. He’s here every day.”
Dao eyes the Alpha and the pup curiously. “And who’s that with him?”
“That’s little Chaisee, Khun Rain’s pup,” Nali answers.
“That’s Khun Rain?” Dao asks in surprise. “I thought he was an Omega?”
Nali snorts. “That’s not him, but that is his daughter.”
“So who’s the Alpha?”

Summary
The guards outside the office door aren’t expecting a five-year old to come barreling around the corner, and aren’t fast enough to stop him when he yanks the door open.
“Pa! Look at the otter I got for-”
He skids to a stop, unable at first to make sense of what he’s seeing.
There’s someone on the floor in front of his father’s desk, unmoving on the large area rug. There’s something about how they’re laying- the absolute stillness- that sends a chill up and down his spine, makes a stone start to form in his tummy that he’ll later learn to call dread.
“…pa?”
His father is off to the side, a switchblade in his hand that he’s wiping off with a handkerchief he’s pulled from a pocket.
“What have I told you about just running in here without knocking first? I could have been in a meeting.” Gun closes the knife, tucking it into a pocket and tosses the used handkerchief, now stained red, on top of the body on the floor. He gives Vegas a considering look, then beckons him over from where he’s still frozen just inside the doorway.
“Come here, Vegas.”

It wasn’t every day he got to meet his loved one’s family, let alone be officially introduced as a partner. Even rarer was the occasion of him meeting his loved one’s nephew, who he had the pleasure of talking to an enormous number of one time when the former brought him nothing but one ticket and a bitter heartbreak, or his nephew’s gay lover, who he knew but never interacted with, considering the latter a weird arrogant eccentric stoned out of his mind. Being introduced as Krailert’s very much (first) official (hardly first) gay partner was a different kind of pressure altogether.
