You're not supposed to do that...

Summary:

Sakurada Marin is a fairly regular girl. That is, until she remembered her past life after she got caught in a bad accident. She knew she got reincarnated into a story she read. She knew it was the popular series "My Hero Academia". But something is wrong and she can't quite put her finger on it.

"Is that Midoriya Izuku? Is he kissing Bakugo Katsuki???"

"Where? Oh, yeah, they've been dating for a while now."

"They're not supposed to do that...?"

"Whoa, you don't need to be homophobic???"

"It's not two males dating that is a problem, Hitoshi, it's THEM dating each other that's a problem! That's not canon! They should be hating each other's gut right now!!!"

Or, OC got reincarnated into BNHA and everyone are doing everything but being canon and she's confused af.

Notes:

This is my first fanfic I post here. Please pardon my english as it's not my first language. This work will be more like anthology than a story with clear plotline, because it involves Marin and her journey exploring the wonderful universe of BNHA.
My friends originally proofread this fic but I didn't show them the final draft because I am too lazy lmao.

Chapter 1: Am I Reincarnated Into A Romcom or Action?

Chapter Text

My name is Sakurada Marin. Just like most kids these days, I am dreaming of becoming a hero! Unfortunately my quirk is not that flashy or useful in battle. I managed to pass the written exam but totally failed my practical exam, I mean, it was kinda expected, really. Now I can kinda accept that I only managed to enroll into the general education department. Today is my first day of my highschool life in U.A. Academy! Wish me lu–

Crash!

The world turns upside down in a second. Something just hit me when I crossed the road. That’s definitely not some other student, because it hurts so much. At least it must be a car, or a villain. God, I wish it’s not a villain. If it’s a car and it’s a hit and run, fuck that driver, I wish he got arrested. But if it is a villain, I wish I could say ‘I love you’ one last time to my mother this morning. She was so excited when she sent me off to school this morning. I can feel my life flashing before my eyes. My dad, my brother when my quirk first manifested, my cousin Hitoshi who I heard got accepted at U.A too. Holy fuck I can even see my first memories, and apparently before that? I can see myself being hit by a car long ago, but I am not me? I was much taller and much older.

“Someone got hit by a car!”

Oh shit. I am seeing things. Am I dying? Is this previous life shit? Am I awakening a new quirk? Remembering past life is not a useful quirk though. I brace myself as I feel my body hit the ground. My past life memories keep surging into my brain as I feel something warm trickle down from my head. The hit and run, my unfinished thesis, my college organization, my internship, and my conversation with my highschool friend about how fucked up we will be if we have quirk and somehow got enrolled to U.A.

“Someone call the teacher!”

Did I just say U.A? If my previous life is from a world with no quirk, how did I know about quirk? I feel like I read about quirk, heroes, and U.A from somewhere in my previous life. I try to keep my eyes open when I see someone approaching me. My brain is piecing together my memories that suddenly came back to me now. How did my previous life know about things that happen in this world? I used to live in a world with no quirk, but similar to this world. It’s almost like this world before quirk existed, but if I live in the past that means I read about the future? That’s very unlikely. The only logical answer is that this world is the world of the story I read, and that I am a reincarnated person. Wait a minute.

“Miss! Miss, are you okay?!”

Am I reincarnated?????

“Miss, can you hea–”

I abruptly sat up, surprising the student that tried to help me. He looks like a senior, probably in his third year. He looks at me with concern in his oval blue eyes, his arms trying to help me up while he checks for injuries. Pain came surging through my whole body and I can feel my body slumping again, but my brain is working overtime. I don’t get it, if I’m going to remember my past life, why now? Why not when I was in kindergarten? What is the trigger? Is it getting hit by a car? That’s a bit too brutal honestly.

“Huh? I- uh- am I dead?”

My head hurts, my brain feels hazy and my head is spinning. Must be the concussion. And the new-old memories didn’t help with it. The world feels like it’s spinning. Am I real? Is this world real? Well the impact felt hurt so I know it is real, and the firm hand of the senior who helps me feels real too. He keeps tapping my cheek to keep me awake. But I am awake. I am very much awake and realize that this world is from a story. If this is one of those reincarnation mangas, I might be reincarnated as a villainess and will end up dead at the end of the story. But I don’t think this is that kind of story, the world setting feels more action than romance. Wait, what’s this story genre again?

“This is not good, I have to bring you to the nurse’s office and get Recovery Girl check you.”

I can feel the kind senior’s firm hand lifting me in a princess carry position. This feels very shoujo romcom opening scene, or it can be angst. And if I’m the main character then I am doomed. My vision is getting dark, probably from the blood loss but I can hear the kind senior asking one of his friends to bring his bag and mine while he carries me to the nurse office. He then tells his other friend to inform a teacher about the hit and run. Then I can hear him cursing under his breath as my breaths get heavier and my consciousness fading away.

“No, no no no, don’t fall asleep yet! Shit! Miss? Can you hear me?”

“...Yes I can…”

“Good, can you tell me your name?”

he sounded very panicking and I can feel he’s straight out running now. I am not sure why he is trying to keep me awake, probably the blood loss. But judging by his toned body I feel through his uniform, he must be a very athletic person. Probably one of the hero course students. That explains how he’s very quick to clear the scene and gives instructions to people when the accident happened.

“Marin… My name is Sakurada Marin.”

“Good, now Sakurada-san, can you tell me what grade and which department are you from?”

“First year… General education department”

“Oh, then this must be your first day? Oh my, what a way to start your highschool year. Oh, we arrived!”

I can hear the sound of the door opening, followed by a surprised voice. And then everything went on so fast and hazy, and then everything disappeared. Did I lose my consciousness? Did I die? I don’t even know anymore. Wouldn’t it be funny if I got re-reincarnated because of this accident? I hope not, it’ll be super troublesome. Everything is dark, I can’t feel anything. I swear I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Is that my grandma calling me? Well she doesn’t really sound like my grandma, but it IS a grandma’s voice. Oh wait, my grandma is still alive, I visited her last week with my cousin Hitoshi, so who is this grandma? Suddenly I felt a hard slap on my cheek.

“Wake up, young lady!”

Gasp!

I woke up to see a small old lady holding me by my collar. She is wearing a long white lab coat, so I guess she’s the school’s nurse, but then I noticed that she’s wearing a pink helmet. She must be one of the hero teachers here, I think the senior who saved me mentioned Recovery Girl, so she must be her. My eyes start to wander around the room. Though I can't see clearly, I spotted the senior who saved me, his shirt soaked in blood. I know that’s my blood, because after that I looked down and saw that my uniform was also soaked in blood. I also noticed that I am not only covered in a blanket, but also an oversized blazer. I realized that it’s the senior’s blazer. He probably took it off to cover me while he transported me to the nurse’s office.

“You’re awake now? Can you tell me your name, young lady?”

“It’s Sakurada Marin, ma’am…”

“Sakurada, you are lucky that Togata was nearby when you got into an accident, my dear! If not, you might be dead by now!”

“D-dead?”

“Your head cracked open, you had a concussion, you also lost a lot of blood, and you broke your arm and some of your ribs. Oh sweetheart, if Togata was not nearby and quick enough, your parents would be preparing for your funeral!”

“Funeral— ma’am??”

“Please don’t stress out what she said, Sakurada-san, what she meant was you had a lot of injuries, so you must be careful.” My saviour senior chimed in to reassure me with an awkward laugh.

“Yes, yes, that’s what I meant, also you have to rest a lot after this, I healed most of your injuries, but not everything since the healing itself will need a bunch of your stamina, my dear. You also lost a lot of blood so you will need to take it easy for today. Here, have some candy. You will need them to raise your sugar level.”

The school nurse handed me some candies. Then she patted my bandaged head and returned to her seat. The kind senior who saved me suddenly sat next to my bed.

“I asked my friend to find your class and informed your teacher, so you should be fine for today. Your bag is also here.” He pointed at the floor next to my bed. I see my school bag there, surprisingly still intact. My hand instinctively reaches for my glasses on my face only to find that it’s not there.

“Oh, are you looking for your glasses? Here, I am sorry but your glasses didn’t survive the crash.” He handed me a pair of glasses that had its frame all creaked and the lenses shattered. Well it was definitely my glasses.

“It’s okay, I have a spare, senior… uh…”

“Togata, my name is Togata Mirio, I am a third year student from the hero course.”

Togata Mirio? Well he does sound familiar. Is he a major character? I looked up to see his face. Careful not to meet his eyes as I won’t risk accidentally using my quirk on him. Oh wow, he really DOES have muscles, well that's expected from hero course students anyway. He's got blonde hair that's slightly messy, and his uniform is sticking to his body, soaked in my blood. Honestly, how much blood did I lose for his uniform to be THAT soaked? I can't see very well but he has this smiling face that makes me feel somewhat at ease. My hand is rummaging through my bag trying to find my glasses, and hurriedly put it on. Now that I can see clearly, I saw that his two oval shaped eyes are looking at me with concern. Wait. I know this face. I have seen him. But where?

"Uh… thank you for saving me, Togata-senpai, if not for you, I will be six feet under by now."

"Oh, it's okay, I'm only doing my responsibility as a licensed hero." Togata throws me a reassuring smile. I can't help but smile back at him. But then I looked at his blood-soaked uniform and his blazer covering me.

"Oh no! Your uniform is ruined now! I am so sorry, please let me pay for the laundr—"

"No no no! It's okay really, I have a spare uniform."

"But I feel bad for ruining it! Please, I insist—"

Right at that moment I heard the nurse office door burst open. My cousin, Hitoshi, is standing at the door, out of breath. His eyes searched through the nurse office before he found me. He lets out a little sigh of relief after seeing me giving him a little wave. How did he know I am here? Do the teachers here know that we're cousins? But it's like first day of school tho? Or do we go to the same class? Wait, isn't he supposed to be at the hall doing the morning assembly?

"Oh my gosh Marin are you okay?" Hitoshi went straight to the side of my bed.

"I'm okay, my dear cousin, just a little blood loss." I tried to reassure him.

"You had a concussion and some broken bones too, Sakurada-san." Togata chimed in. I swear to god I can see Hitoshi's eyes got twice bigger.

"Well, yes, but Recovery Girl already fixed me up so I'm okay now." I smiled and patted Hitoshi's arm, assuring him that I'm okay.

"Thank you very much for saving my little cousin, Senpai, I don't know how I am supposed to face my aunt and uncle if I lost her on our first day of school." Hitoshi bowed gratefully to Togata.

"It's alright, really, I only do what I should do as a licensed hero. Now that your family is here, I'm going to return to my class." Togata raised from his seat. I tried to stop him since his blazer is still covering me. "Oh, you can just return that blazer later on. I think you'll need that to cover up at least until you can change your clothes."

I said my thanks again before Togata walked out of the nurse office. Now it's only me and my cousin. Hitoshi is not very talkative, given his quirk's nature. He doesn't want to accidentally hypnotize someone. But damn this silence is awkward. It's not even that long since we last met, like he literally had dinner with my family like last week. Well I guess finding your cousin almost dead in the nurse's office on your first day of school is pretty awkward. He looks at me with worry in his eyes, like I might die anytime. He then reached his pocket and opened his phone, texting someone. He glances at me a few times while typing. He's texting my family isn't he.

"Hitoshi."

"What?"

"Are you texting my mom?"

"Yes I am."

I snatched his phone from his hands.

"What the—"

"Can you please not tell my mom until later? Please?"

"...Fine. But just you know, she'll be more furious if you tell her later."

I nodded and returned his phone. And then awkward silence again. Right at this moment I am seriously considering telling Hitoshi about my newly found past life just so I can escape this awkwardness. But how am I supposed to tell him? Welp, this world is a story, and we're just characters, and probably not even main characters, just side characters! Surprise!! And then Hitoshi will tell my parents that my brain must be damaged from the concussion. No thank you. I guess I can only wait and see until the story unfolds itself.

"Hey." He suddenly speaks.

"Huh, yeah?"

"We're in the same class."

"Pardon?"

"Did you lose your hearing too? We're in the same class, 1-C. You didn't know how I freaked out when an upperclassmen appeared out of nowhere and told our teacher you got into an accident."

Wait. Shinso Hitoshi, Class 1-C? Why is this so familiar? Is my cousin a key character? I was lost in my mind when Hitoshi waved his hand in front of me. He scratched his head, still seems baffled by the condition I am in. I mean, I, too, am still baffled by the fact that I got hit by a car on the first day of school. Hitoshi then proceeded to check my stuff, and again, he was surprised when he found that most of my stuff was intact. He went to Recovery Girl and asked her a few questions about my conditions before returning to my bed.

"The nurse said if you're no longer feeling lightheaded you can return to class."

"Looking like this??" I pointed at my bloody uniform.

"Yea… maybe not looking like that. I'll try to find some spare unifo—"

Clack!

The door to the nurse’s office suddenly opened, making us turned our heads. In front of the door appeared a kid with messy green hair. He is holding his right hand, it seems like his index finger is broken. He flinched when he noticed Hitoshi in the room, and almost jumped when he saw me looking like I'm straight out of a thriller movie. He approached Recovery Girl while muttering something that I can't hear non-stop. Wait. Green hair?

"Hello, ma'am, I'm Midoriya Izuku, from class 1-A. I might have broken my finger during the test…" He seems very timid. But his name sounds familiar though…

"Ah yes, I remember you. Come, let me fix you up real quick, dear."

"Whoa… it's all better… but…I'm… suddenly… so tired…"

"My quirk boosts your own healing factors. But recovery requires stamina. Keep on getting hurt like this, and you'll eventually ran out of stamina and die."

"I'LL DIE?!"

Wait. Their conversation feels familiar. The green haired boy expressed his gratitude before exiting the nurse's office. But that green hair feels so familiar. The conversation, the kid, broken finger, everything feels so familiar. Is this a canon event from the story? Is this the main plotline? Is he the main character? But he looks so ordinary for a main character aside from his green hair? But if he is the main character, then who is he again? Just what is the genre of this story?

"Who is he, ma'am? He seems familiar with you?"

"That kid? He's Midoriya, he is quite a late bloomer, his quirk just manifested around the time for the entrance exam, so he doesn't really have full control for it yet."

Hold up.

Midoriya?

Is he? Is this?

No, it can’t be, right?

But wait. The world setting matched.

So I— so this—???

Of all story in the world I am reincarnated into THIS???

So he is THAT Midoriya??? THE Midoriya Izuku?????

I AM REINCARNATED INTO THE POPULAR SERIES MY HERO ACADEMIA??????

“I HAVEN’T EVEN FINISHED READING THAT???”

Let’s redo my introduction. Hello, I am Sakurada Marin. I am reincarnated as an unnamed character in a popular manga series My Hero Academia and just recently regained my previous life memories after 15 years. Unlike those reincarnation stories where the reincarnated has perfect memories of the whole plotline flawlessly, I only read the first 250 chapters before I got reincarnated and can barely remember the plotline. In my previous life, I was just a normal college student, living in a world with no magic or superpower. I just reached chapter 250 on my MHA catchup marathon before I got hit by a car and got reincarnated. My quirk? Let’s talk about that later.

Apparently I got reincarnated as a side character that isn't even mentioned in the story, like, zero screen time. Fortunately I am not even in the hero course. I don’t know what my pre-remembering self was thinking, but I wanted to be a hero. A job that is high risk and super dangerous. My quirk is not even a combat type quirk. Hell it's not even useful as a support type hero. I think with my quirk I am more suitable as a zookeeper or a detective than becoming a hero. Anyway, I can’t believe I regained my memory in the same year the story starts. If my very limited memory is right, all that is waiting for me is a very chaotic highschool life with war waiting to happen.

Yep. Let's just stay away from the main plot and live a peaceful life as a civilian. Let’s do that Sakurada Marin. Let’s not get involved.

Notes:

I'm supposed to be writing my thesis but here we are. I really like Marin as my OC, she's really ordinary than your usual OCs, but it's Marin. She's a trouble magnet even if she doesn't want to. Her quirk will be explained in later chapters, so let's keep it a mystery for now.
For her appearance, she has long sakura pink hair that's usually being tied in twin tails or braided. She's average built, and her eyes are grayish blue like Shinso. She also wears glasses and is completely blind without it.
