Work Text:
It was a normal Wednesday in Izuku and Katsuki’s apartment. Well, normal was a far fetched term for it. Izuku watched with slight fear as Katsuki stood at the edge of his bed, back to Izuku.
“Do you really think this is smart?” Izuku asked, trying not to let his worries show.
“The fuck do you mean? Do you think I’m gonna screw it up?” Katsuki snapped, but Izuku could hear the slight nervousness in his voice. It made Izuku feel a little bit better, knowing Katsuki could recognize his own idiocy.
“I didn’t say that, I think you’re making stuff up,” Izuku replied. He could practically feel Katsuki’s eye roll from where he stood in the entrance of his room, waiting for Katsuki to get on with his stunt.
About an hour ago, Izuku had set up his gaming console once he’d finished his portion of the housework. Katsuki joined him twenty minutes later, which eventually led to a Mario Kart showdown, which tended to happen at least once a week. They’d only just started placing bets on them recently, and they kept getting a little more unhinged each week. This week was by far the most out there. Whoever lost the most rounds out of ten had to attempt a backflip off Katsuki’s bed.
Katsuki was quite confident for someone who’d only ever done a backflip once, maybe twice in his life, discounting any of the crazy stuff he got up to at work. Izuku watched as he kept shifting back and forth on his feet, clearly mentally preparing himself.
“I don’t have all day,” Izuku said teasingly. Katsuki got visibly ticked off, Izuku could see it in the way his back muscles tensed under the tight tank top he wore. Not that he was staring at his muscles.
“Shut the hell up,” Katsuki grumbled, but he still didn’t move.
“Kacchan, you don’t have to-” Before Izuku could make it through a full sentence, Katsuki was throwing himself back into a perfect backflip with impeccable form. Izuku had to force himself to not let his mouth hang open in shock. Katsuki made it look easy and flawless. He shot him a grin once he righted himself, seeming to take pride in the way he left Izuku practically speechless. His nerves had vanished and he looked more relaxed, letting himself fall back onto his bed like the backflip was the hardest work he’d done in ages, even though it looked perfect. Or maybe Izuku was just biased.
Izuku barreled forward and tackled Katsuki when he was unsuspecting, pouncing on him and pinning him to the bed. He started punching him lightly in the chest, over and over again.
“You ass! I thought you were actually gonna hurt yourself!”
“Get off me!”
“No! You deserve this!” Izuku was punching him relentlessly, making sure to take care and not actually hurt him.
Katsuki grabbed his wrists, halting his assault.
“Let’s play again. Same terms.”
“No!”
“Yes.”
“Fine.” Thirty minutes later, Katsuki had beaten Izuku into the ground with a whopping eight wins out of ten. It made Izuku think he lost on purpose last time, so that he could show off his backflipping skills. It wouldn’t surprise him. Katsuki’s smile was way too evil for Izuku’s liking as he climbed up on Katsuki’s bed, turning around slowly and shuffling his heels to the edge.
“Am I going to die?” Izuku asked. He tried not to look back at the ground. Even being a pro hero, Izuku still gets scared sometimes, okay? He didn’t want to snap his neck on accident.
“You’ll be fine. Probably,” Katsuki said, and Izuku could literally feel the smirk in his voice.
“Shut up, Kacchan,” Izuku said. On the count of three. One, two, three…
Izuku attempted, key word being attempted , to throw himself backward, trying to tuck the same way Katsuki did and land on his feet, alive and well. But it was definitely not looking good for him. Izuku could tell as soon as his feet left the bed that he didn’t get enough momentum, and he was crashing down, fast. It was all happening so fast that he didn’t know how he was going to get out without hitting his head off the floor-
And then he stopped falling. He was hanging upside down, and Katsuki had grabbed him by the ankles, dangling him above the wood floor. It was clearly a bit of a struggle, since a whole three seconds later he was dropped onto the floor, but he was aware enough to tuck his head and roll out of it. Izuku decided that getting up off the floor would be too much work, so he just let himself roll out into a lying position, crossing his arms over his chest, pretending to be dead.
“Thank you for saving me,” Katsuki said in a high pitched voice.
“Thank you for saving me my dearest Kacchan,” Izuku said, opening his eyes to stare up at Katsuki who stood over him. Katsuki pretended to pick up his foot and stomp on his face, before putting his foot down and reaching a hand down to help Izuku off the floor.
“What do you say we go for one more round?”
One more round was not a smart idea. They changed the bet because both of them had fallen victim to the previous one, meaning it got just a little more unhinged than before.
To Izuku, a more unhinged bet was giving the other person a foot massage. Both equally disgusting and humiliating for the loser, equally awkward and sadistic for the winner.
Izuku had been determined to win. No way in hell was he getting anywhere near Katsuki’s foot. He didn’t know how often he actually washed his toes, and he didn’t want to find out. Unfortunately, the universe was not on his side that day, and he wound up sitting on the end of Katsuki’s bed, Katsuki’s toes creeping closer and closer to his face.
Izuku smacked his foot back onto the bed.
“Stop it or I’m not doing this,” he said.
“You literally don’t have a choice. A bet is a bet.”
“You came up with this!”
“I knew I would win.” Izuku sniffed in irritation before he meekly reached out for Katsuki’s foot again. They were weirdly soft, which is not something he expected. There was no dry skin, no gross looking toenails, and nothing out of the ordinary. Honestly, on the foot scale, they were some of the better feet Izuku had ever seen.
“Do you put like, lotion on your feet or something?” Izuku asked, starting to rub circles into the ball of his foot.
“Yeah.”
“Actually?”
“Why would I lie?” Izuku shrugged.
“Is it vanilla?”
“Yeah.”
“I can smell it.”
“Stop smelling my feet you fucking weirdo!” Izuku laughed and dug particularly hard into the soft spot of Katsuki’s foot with his thumb.
“I bet your feet are fucking disgusting,” Katsuki commented. Izuku dropped his foot immediately and stood up.
“I wash my feet every day, actually!” he exclaimed, “so fuck you!” Izuku leaned down and tore off his socks, revealing his perfectly trimmed toenails and sparkly clean feet. He never wore the same socks for more than a day, either.
Katsuki raised an eyebrow.
“Mediocre.” Izuku was about to give him a snappy reply before realizing that he was getting upset over Katsuki’s opinion on his feet. He was utterly, absolutely fucked.
Izuku dropped back to sitting on the bed, this time next to Katsuki’s head.
“What’s for dinner?”
