It was a slow day at work in June of 2023 when I stumbled upon the amazing fic “The Lemon-Poppy Type” by paper_star. I was instantly hooked – please go out and check her work first, before reading what I did to it.
I was in fact so hooked, that my university-exam-phase stressed brain (because yes, I do like to torture myself and start an MBA while working a full-time job) cancelled all studying efforts, effective immediately, and requested more.
And I really did try to comply. I read everything from paper_star that very same day. During lunch break, while commuting, in the evening on the couch, while my pasta for dinner happily boiled over. But still, it was not enough. I needed more – even if that meant that I had to create it myself. Which is precisely what I did here.
I took some liberties and added a few story lines here and there and waited for paper_star to answer to my comment about writing a prequel – which at that point had already evolved into adding several chapters.
And amazingly, I got the “GO” and – well, here we are, guys!
While this is not my first rodeo, so to say, it is my very first FanFiction that I am posting on here – and in English, which is not my first language. So please be kind, when pointing out errors (which I’m sure there will be some).
Moreover, a quick disclaimer, I am a sucker for drama – so I amped that part up quite a bit.
Also – obviously – I do not own any of this. Neither the magical work of paper_star nor the universe and its characters by she-who-shall-not-be-named.
Finally, I just want to thank paper_star again – at a time where I was wildly overwhelmed with everything (I also needed to buy a new car, which I did just yesterday!), your fic helped my get motivated again – which is amazing. And you were so generous, when you allowed me to take your work and just roll with it. I really enjoyed this. I can only hope that one day – when inspiration strikes again, we´ll get back together for a joint project. Flintwood 4 Life!
