And if we hit on troubled water, I'll be the one to keep you warm and safe

Summary:

Chu Wenshan carry his brother to bed.

Notes:

11/11/23 edit!

I nailed the backstory lmao, also also, editing "Duyu" to "Wu Yuo", since that's the proper name for pre-canon!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Chu Wenshan doesn't understand much about things, or how to act in society, or how emotions work, or what others mean when they use complicated words, or why they don't say what they want directly, but he's not completely dumb either.

His father told him that Wu Yuo is his younger brother, so he must not allow anyone to say otherwise. Wu Yuo is interested in herbalism, so it's better that his father doesn't think about making him the head of the sect, so he can expand his knowledge without distractions and can take the time to train properly; he also told him that he is strong, and the rest of his martial brothers don't like to be helped when they get hurt, so he lets him do what he thinks is best when he is injured.

His mother told him to take care of his brother when he is in danger and to take him to bed when he falls asleep, and that is what he does.

The trip to his room is short, Wu Yuo is almost a feather in his arms, but the amount of extra limbs attached to his body still manage to make him wobble on the way. That's okay, it's fun, the feeling of vertigo is funny.

The bed sinks under the weight of both of them, the silk sheets are soft to the touch and all at once all Chu Wenshan wants to do is lie down to sleep. He doesn't think his brother will mind, he knows he likes the company too.

He'll leave early, he promises quietly, so that Wu Yuo won't feel pressured to train as soon as he gets up.
