the downfall of isagi yoichi.

Summary:

Isagi Yoichi was supposed to be Japan's key to victory in the next World Cup.

Isagi Yoichi, a rising supernova of a new era had carried the dreams and wishes of fellow soccer enthusiasts since the day he was deemed "the Heart of Blue Lock". He fought tirelessly to claim a role on the world's stage with the lingering hope of reuniting with his long-term rivals from around the globe. And with the intention of beating them.

They, too, had been waiting for this very moment.
Which is why everyone froze when they realised there was no sight of him anywhere on the field.

Isagi Yoichi vanished the night before the World Cup Finale.

Two years have passed since his disappearance.

This is the story of Isagi Yoichi's downfall; through the eyes of his friends, rivals, fans and the many people he inspired.

Chapter 1: dear isagi yoichi.

Chapter Text

  1. Dear Isagi Yoichi,

My school’s team and I won the last match, we’re finally going to Nationals this year!! I still can’t believe it, this is ACTUALLY happening? Thank you. I couldn’t have done this without you. You inspired me to dedicate myself to soccer. I still remember seeing the Blue Lock match against the U20 Japanese National Team for the first time.

I joined my school’s soccer team the day after that.

  1. Dear Mister 11,

My big brother showed me videos of your best plays yesterday. I know what I want to be when I grow up now. You’re super cool.

  1. Isagi,

I can’t forget our first game: Team Z against Team V. I wish we could play soccer again.

  1. Dear Isagi,

Nagi keeps bringing you up even though it’s been two years. I can’t help thinking about you from time to time either. Hey, I haven’t had the chance to beat you yet.

  1. Yoichi,

Bastard München feels empty without you. It’s getting boring without your pathetic attempts at besting me. Though I definitely don’t miss seeing the creepy amount of Noel Noa merch you own. You’ve always had bad taste.

  1. Dear Mister Isagi,

I was disappointed when you didn’t show up to the finale. My mum got me tickets to that game for my birthday and I was sad when I couldn’t see you. You were my idol.

I think you let a lot of people down that day.

  1. Isagi Yoichi,

Even now you are still lukewarm. It shouldn’t have surprised me when you didn’t come to the finale. Nonetheless, my eyes kept searching for you. Tsk.

  1. Yo Donkey,

Why did you never show up? Isn’t a servant supposed to be at his king’s side at all times? You’re full of shit.

  1. You are my first friend, Isagi.

Where are you now? Do you no longer need me? I’m sorry.

  1. Egoist,

Isn’t it time for you to stop hiding? I talked to Anri-chan. You’ve skipped your last three therapy sessions. This can’t go on.

  1. Isagi Yoichi,

Did you give up on your dream of becoming the world’s best striker?

Millions of letters had been addressed to him since his disappearance. Two years worth of words directed at him, some of which were heartfelt and praising, others angry and disappointed.

Not a single person received a response in those two years.
