Jouno could feel burning pain in his neck, and throughout his body where he’d been stabbed. He wanted to go on and warn Tecchou, and Teruko, but his body was cooperating. The most he could do was activate his ability and moved himself out of the ceiling.
Slumped against a wall, he tried to stay conscious. To stay in control of his own body, despite the vampire curse trying to take over. He sat there for a long time, before he heard two sets of footsteps approaching.
“Jouno!” Tecchou yelled, running over.
“‘M okay, got bit by a vampire though, been fighting it,” Jouno mumbled, he was realizing he was dizzy, and nauseous from the blood loss.
Everything was fuzzy for Jouno, but he listened to what was being said to the best of his abilities, “I’ll go get help, be right back.”
“Please be fast,” Tecchou told the other, although Jouno didn’t know who it was.
Something about the voice was familiar, he was just unable to place his finger on it. Some sort of fabric was being pressed against his wounds, trying to slow the bleeding. It didn’t do much, since most of the bleeding out had already happened. He was pretty sure he was only alive because of a mix of the enhancements, and the vampirism.
In the background, he knew that someone was talking, but it was like he was underwater. Everything was muffled, and Jouno knew it wouldn’t be long before he turned. Until suddenly, all the pain was gone, and the itching in his brain of the curse was gone.
“Damn, haven’t seen someone in such bad shape in a long time,” a female voice spoke.
“Thank you, Yosano!” the voice of a young boy cheered.
He heard the rustle of fabric, as Tecchou bowed to the woman, “I must thank you for saving Jouno, despite our actions towards you before.”
She chuckled at him, “It’s no problem, really. I gotta go now though, I’m pretty sure the main battle is finally taking place.”
“I’ll go too,” Jouno stated, startling them all.
“No, you just got healed, you need to sit down and rest,” Tecchou tried convincing him.
He frowned, “I’m not letting the commander get away with stabbing me, just because I wouldn’t go along with his insane plot.”
The gasp that escaped the other Hunting Dog was one of shock, “He did that?”
“Yeah, apparently he’s got the vampire that is turning everyone on hand. Even had a way to keep me from using my ability, or get stuck in a particle state,” Jouno complained, getting up from the floor, clothes dripping blood.
“I would normally tell someone to rest after I healed them, but we do need all the help we can get,” Yosano admitted.
Tecchou was upset with the decision, “Just, please be careful.”
That made him smile, “Of course I’ll be careful, being reckless is your thing.”
“I’m going to be by your side the whole time, even if you’ll be careful,” he grabbed Jouno’s hand, and placed the ear ring that had fallen off into it.
“You can hold onto the until the battle is over,” Jouno pressed the small bell back into his partner’s hand. “It’s a promise that we’ll survive, and then, once it’s all over, I’ll do something dumb.”
Tecchou was confused by what dumb meant, but he nodded, putting the ear ring back into his pocket. Walking out of the room to head to the roof, where Yosano told them the final battle with Fukuchi was going down. Explaining that they needed to stop him from activating one order, or else it’s all over.

The final battle was one for the ages, and all of them were injured by the end, getting healed by Yosano, after making sure Fukuchi would never be getting up again. Panting from the exertion, Jouno made his way over to Tecchou, both their wounds disappearing as soon as Yosano activated her ability.
When Tecchou went to ask Jouno what he had been planning to do earlier, a set of lips met his own. His entire face lit up with blush, and he was really flustered, yet he returned the kiss lightly. Not quite sure what he was supposed to do, when the kiss was broken, he squeezed his partner in a tight hug.
Jouno couldn’t stop himself from lightly chuckling as he was hugged, hugging back and appreciating him. Had they both not made it out alive, he didn’t know how he might have ended up acting. He was just glad that it never happened.
