Suegiku Week Day 5 - Sword, Stakeout

Work Text:

Stakeouts, the bane of existence to all of the Hunting Dogs, all of them preferring to just attack the target, and then either kill or arrest them, depending on what was necessary. Sitting and waiting wasn’t something any of them were fond of. Despite that, they had another one, a thing that becoming far too frequent lately.

Tecchou had found that he just couldn’t focus on whatever or whoever they were supposed to be watching for a long time, so he left it to Jouno, to listen for it. He just sat somewhere in the room, after he found the bugs, and would watch them wander around. This time, he had found his favourite of insects, ants.

Someone had dropped crumbs on the floor (likely Tecchou when he was eating earlier), and they were grabbing said crumbs. He enjoyed watching the teamwork of the ants, and how they all worked together to get the food back to the group. How ants got to the fifth floor, he wasn’t going to question, ants could get anywhere they wanted, regardless of logic.

His attention on the ants was only broken by Jouno’s voice, “They’re doing it, we can go and apprehend them now.”

He stood up, going to the window, where he saw the criminals they were tracking making a deal with some others. Without hesitation, he leapt out the window, landing easily. The group of six all turned to him, panic displayed on their features. A Hunting Dog appearing always sent people into a panic.

Jouno appeared beside him, having used his ability to get down, “Tecchou, you dumbass, you didn’t need to jump out of the window.”

“It was the fastest way down,” he simply replied, not seeing the problem.

While they were disagreeing, one of the criminals pulled a gun on them, it passed right through Jouno’s body. Luckily for them, they were given permission to use lethal force this time. Which was exactly what Tecchou did, pulling his sword out, and snatching Jouno’s sword from where it rested on his hip.

Both swords extended, and bent to strike all targets. Which just got him a simple hum from Jouno, who took his sword back as soon as Tecchou was done. None of the targets were dead yet because they did want to question them, but all of them were trying not to bleed out. Pressing fabric on to the wounds, which were deep, and nearly took off arms.

“Overkill really, you need to tone it down a bit,” Jouno commented, having decided that limb loss was too much for the weaklings.

“I incapacitated them, that was all that was required,” he tilted his head to the side like a confused dog.

Sighing, the white haired Hunting Dogs smacked his colleague on the back of the head, “Dumbass, seriously, use your brain for something other than just admiring ants.”

He remained monotone as he responded, “No, they have a complex way of using teamwork, unlike you, maybe you should learn from them too.”

“Hey! I can use teamwork just fine,” Jouno was annoyed, and decided to just suck it up and ignore Tecchou. “Fuck this.”

He walked off, his plan to make the criminals surrender was in the trash. Complaining about Tecchou wouldn’t work, since the last time he did, he ended up complimenting him far more than trash talking him. Sighing again, he ended up walking all the way back to base.
