In an alternative universe where Keith left Earth with his mother Krolia, after the death of his father to be raised in the Empire. Krolia being the daughter of Zarkon, so Keith was taught the only true way was following his orders for the Empire. Meanwhile, Shiro wasn't the only one who crashed and landed on Earth, Matt also escaped the Galra. Pidge, Hunk, and Lance rescued them and ended up in space because of the Blue Lion.
Shiro becomes the Black Paladin, Lance becomes the Blue Paladin, Matt becomes the Red Paladin, Hunk becomes the Yellow Paladin, and Pidge becomes the Green Paladin. Allura and Coran help train the Paladins to stop Zarkon and his forces, but things hit a halt when Lance is captured by the Galra and being held on a ship where he meets a human or at least he thinks is a human.
