Work Text:
Akutagawa Gin has been pronounced dead.
Thess words have never left Ryuunosuke's mind, constantly making him dwell on the death of his sister. He really had nobody anymore. He was all alone.
No one in the Port Mafia ever came to check in on him, no one cared about him when sending him on mission after mission just days after his sister's death.
One day he was sent on yet another mission, this time with Jinko as a 'bonding activity' as Mori put it. All they had to do was just scare off some drug dealers that were threatening the mafia. Seems easy, right?
Wrong.
With Akutagawa's current state he was constantly distracted, which made him worse at fighting, running, sneaking, etc.
Seems like he was so obvious even Jinko noticed.
"Akutagawa, what's wrong? You've been acting weird all day." He asked like the last idiot after they finally finished their mission. Or maybe Ryuunosuke was the idiot. After all he'd gotten so weak just because he got attached. That was something Dazai tried forcing out of him with constantly hurting him emotionally. Right? The ones you love are going to leave you, don't get close to anybody.
"Akutagawa!" The weretiger's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
"It's nothing, don't even think about it." He replied.
Jinko seemed to not like that.
"Akutagawa! Something's clearly wrong, just tell me!"
"MY SISTER DIED, OKAY?" Akutagawa screamed out. He instantly looked down to avoid eye contact with the younger.
Nakajima gasped.
"Happy now?"
"I- I'm so sorry Akutagawa. Are you okay?"
Yeah, no, Jinko was the idiot.
"Does it look like I'm okay? Why do you even care anyway, you hate me, remember?"
Atsushi looked at him confused.
"I don't hate you."
Now it was Akutagawa's turn to be confused.
"You don't?"
"No, you hate me. I just didn't want to annoy you, that's why I never tried getting closer to you."
"Why would you care about what I feel?"
"I... don't know. I just do."
The two polar opposites looked each other in the eyes. Suddenly, Atsushi pulled Akutagawa into a hug. The raven froze for a moment before melting into the touch.
"Akutagawa, do you trust me?"
"Yes..."
"Then trust me when I say it's okay to cry." Akutagawa pulled him closer and buried his face in Atsushi's chest, letting out a pathetic sob. Atsushi held him tightly, letting the older cry out into his shirt, covering it with tears and snot. The two sat down on the ground, with Akutagawa sitting in his lap.
"Shhhh, it's okay, everything will be okay..."
After around half an hour, Akutagawa finally calmed down.
He looked up at Atsushi with puffy, wet eyes and said,
"Thank you, I really needed this."
"Always. I'm here for you Akutagawa."
"Please, call me Ryuunosuke."
Atsushi's eyes widened slightly before he sent the other a soft smile. He hugged the man again before gently pushing him from his lap and standing up.
"Wait-" Ryuunosuke said hesitantly. "Can I sleep with you tonight? Gin and I would sleep in the same bed and I can't sleep without feeling her cuddle me..."
Atsushi gave him a warm smile and said, "Of course."
So the two walked together back to Atsushi's place. At some point while they were walking, Akutagawa grabbed Atsushi's hand and never let go, so they kept going, just this time holding hands.
Once they got to Atsushi's dorm, it was already getting dark.
They entered the empty room.
Atsushi remembered that Kyouka was sleeping over at Yosano's so they had the bed just for them.
The two laid down on the bed facing each other, slightly nervous about how this was going to look. They clumsily tangled their limbs together until they found a comfortable position and with a small 'goodnight' from both, they fell asleep, feeling safe in the other's arms.
