Work Text:

Argos didn't feel well.

Which was bad.

Really bad.

He was supposed to go out with Mr Plant today on a date, and he couldn't miss that! Not for the end of the world!

He held his head in his hands and groaned in frustration. Why did this have to happen now!?

He made himself get up and out of bed. It seemed Mr Plant was already awake, which was admittedly rare for him.

Maybe this new illness had caused Argos to sleep in.

He walked downstairs, and even with the nausea bubbling in his stomach, he couldn't help but smile when he saw Mr Plant.

"Morning!" He knew he wouldn't answer, of course, but greeting him was the right thing to do.

Mr Plant nodded at him, then tilted his head, and Argos had now known him long enough to know he was trying to ask why he had woken up so late.

"Oh just…just pretty tired! That's all!"

He wasn't just pretty tired, he was exhausted. And he felt like was about to collapse onto the floor at that very moment.

Thankfully, he didn't.

Mr Plant proceeded to ask if he wanted any breakfast, but Argos said no. The idea of eating twisted his stomach up in even more knots.

And Mr Plant didn't deserve to deal with him like this.

He sat down in front of Mr Plant, trying to manage the smile still.

"...Are you excited for our date today, Mr Plant?"

Mr Plant just shrugged, but Argos knew he was. The thing about Mr Plant was that he hated showing any kind of excitement or happiness. So he always did this.

Argos wasn't as excited about this date now. The world felt like it was spinning, and so did his stomach.

But Mr Plant was excited. And he couldn't ruin that for him.

"Me too!" He poured himself some tea out of their pot, and only pretended to drink some.

Until it was time for them to leave, that was what the whole day was like. Argos desperately trying to not vomit over anything as the day went on.

Now it was time for them to leave. And Argos was not excited in the slightest.

"I'm so excited, Mr Plant!"

Mr Plant just nodded, and took Argos's hand in his as they headed out for the car.

Oh god. The car.

Argos braced himself. This would not be fun.

He got into the passenger side of the car. At least he wasn't driving.

Though Mr Plant wasn't…the best driver himself.

The car started, and it was bumpy. Argos wasn't sure if it was really that bad, or if the sickness was amplifying it.

He was able to stick out for the first twenty minutes of the drive. But after that, Argos felt like he was about to be sick right on the windshield.

"...Mr Plant…can you pull over…?"

This could not be happening.

Mr Plant nodded, and stopped the car like he said.

"..."

Argos heaved heavily for a few moments.

Then he swung open the car door, and proceeded to throw up violently onto the ground.

Oh no.

Once he was done vomiting, he continued his heaving, not even able to look at Mr Plant after what had just happened.

"...Sor—sorry—!"

He fell back against his car seat, then everything went black.

***

Argos had just passed out.

Argos had just passed out.

Mr Plant was still trying to process it.

Before that, he had thrown up. So maybe he's ill?

He placed a finger on his forehead, somewhere where he could avoid his eyes.

Argos felt like he was on fire.

Mr Plant felt his heart starting to pound in his chest.

Argos was sick.

Immediately, he started the car again. Then turned it around so they could go home.

Argos needed to rest.

***

Mr Plant pulled their car back into their driveway, then turned back to Argos.

He was still passed out. Which meant he would have to carry him in.

That would be fun.

Mr Plant unbuckled his seat belt, then leaned over to do the same to Argos's.

He frowned at the sight of his unconscious boyfriend, Argos looked like he was in so much pain. So much discomfort…

Mr Plant lifted Argos up into his arms. With him being smaller than Mr Plant, he found it relatively easy.

He took him inside and carried him upstairs, placing him on his side of the bed.

Argos was very pale. Mr Plant tucked the blankets around him, trying to make sure Argos would be comfortable.

He heard about some sort of technique about putting a towel on your forehead, but with Argos's eyes that wouldn't really be possible.

Maybe he would just have to wait until Argos was conscious again.

And that proved to be a while, it was midnight, and Mr Plant was still laying beside him, hand over Argos's heart to make sure it was still beating.

Thankfully, it was.

He stayed like that for ages and ages, until he fell asleep.

"...Mr Plant…?"

Mr Plant woke up immediately.

"...Are we…home?"

He nodded.

"...Oh…"

Argos tried to sit up, but Mr Plant gently pushed him back down.

"...I…I'm sorry, Mr Plant…I…I completely ruined our day…"

Mr Plant wasn't sure what to do, so he just shrugged.

"...Are you mad at me…?"

He shook his head.

"...I…don't feel very well…"

It had been ages since Argos had passed out. That had been at six PM. And it was now three AM.

Mr Plant had to get him some water. Maybe some food if he was up for it.

He pointed at Argos, and then to the bed. His way of telling him to: "Wait here."

"Wha—what!? No! Don't leave!"

Argos was beginning to panic. And Mr Plant didn't like seeing him so upset. But Argos really needed this.

He held up one of his fingers, trying to tell him he would only be a minute.

"...Okay, fine…"

Mr Plant turned a lamp on, so Argos would at least have light whilst he was gone.

He filled up a glass with water, and grabbed a pack of crackers from their pantry. Apparently they were an easy snack for someone sick, and they would ease nausea.

Now he had to bring the items to Argos.

Mr Plant was careful as he walked back upstairs, so he wouldn't spill any water.

Argos looked up with joy as he came back into their bedroom.

"Mr Plant! You were gone for hours!"

He had only been gone for two minutes at most.

But Argos was sick. And Mister Plant knew he was delirious too.

He let out a breath, and placed the crackers and water down on the table beside Argos's half of the bed.

"But I don't feel weeeell! I don't wanna eat!"

Mr Plant pointed to the water.

"...Fine, only because you want me to."

Apparently Argos could also become childish with a fever.

Well, at least that was good to know. Even if it was kind of annoying for Mr Plant. Argos was still his boyfriend, and he would just have to put up with it for now.

Argos took a few good sips of the water, before Mr Plant stopped him. He didn't want him to be sick again, and this time, they would actually have to clean it up.

Next on Mr Plant's agenda would be finding Argos medicine. He didn't think he had any in their void, and with Argos's sudden clinginess, he could possibly have to order some.

Great.

Ordering medicine was always annoying. It better arrive soon, or he swore.

Three fifteen the next day.

That wouldn't do.

Mr Plant looked up the phone number of the pharmacy, before leaving them a…message.

Argos's medicine would be arriving soon.

When that was done, he turned his focus back to Argos, who was still laying miserably in bed.

Mr Plant didn't like the anxiety in his chest. He wanted to make Argos feel better.

He took his hand in his, holding it like it was a priceless fragile object.

"..."

Even through his discomfort, Argos managed to smile.

Mr Plant ran some of his fingers over his hand, then leaned down to kiss Argos's hair.

He usually wasn't this affectionate, but right now, Argos clearly needed it.

It was ruined by the sound of the doorbell going off.

Argos's medicine.

Mr Plant held up the waiting finger again, much to Argos's distress. Mr Plant tried to reassure him he would be back quickly.

He hurried downstairs and answered the door.

The pharmacist just handed him the bag with the medicine, and quickly ran away.

How weird.

Mr Plant brought the medicine to Argos, helping him to take it with a few more sips of the water.

"Thank you, Mister Plant…"

Mr Plant started combing his fingers through his hair again, noticing the way Argos leaned into the touch and hummed in delight.

He must really like having his hair played with.

"You're so nice to me, Mr Plant."

He wasn't sure how to respond, so he just nodded, as he usually did.

"...I love you…"

Mr Plant kissed his hair again. He couldn't tell Argos he loved him verbally, but he could show it.

"I'm tired."

He tucked the blankets around him again, making sure he was comfortable so that he could sleep.

Argos always looked so calm when he was going to sleep. Even with the majority of his eyes being open. He was so perfect to Mr Plant, he had no flaws whatsoever.

And to think that not long ago, Mr Plant would have gotten rid of him in a heartbeat.

Now he was the most amazing creature in the whole void. He wouldn't trade Argos for anything.

Argos clung to him as he got into bed beside him, and held onto him like a lifeline.

Even it he got this clingy when he was sick.
