Work Text:

Maddie Masters returned home from her coffee date with her cousin Kathleen. She felt quite refreshed after their free beauty treatment. She'd decided to have the stylist style her hair in waves, adding a few minor deep blue highlights. She also loved the fantastic sparkly nails she'd received.
The brick house was vacant when she returned home. However, she knew her husband was at a Packers game, and her children were at the playground with their best friends. So she was okay with what they were up to. Instead, she went to her room and removed a small journal from her bedside table drawer. She didn't write in it often but felt she should today.
"I'm feeling much happier since Ceci inadvertently uncovered my cousin Kathleen and her family. I don't care too much that she's my third cousin, for she is more like a sister than my sister. After all, my sister never even calls or sends me a letter by snail mail. So it's nice to have family nearby. I'm also delighted my children have some family nearby since Vlad's family doesn't live nearby.
It was nice to have some alone time with Kathleen. I'm sorry that her son has to suffer from a learning disability. Particularly one that's not being adequately addressed. More people must be sufficiently educated on various subjects, including learning disabilities.
I wasn't kidding when I told Kathleen that I hope Charlie mellows out some and isn't so serious 24/7. I don't mind that he's super intelligent. However, it's disturbing that he's far too serious and formal. I'm not asking him to become a troublemaker. I merely want him to mellow out and relax. Just have some fun as a normal child should. I hope I'm doing the right thing by getting Felicity a kitten for her tenth birthday. I also hope Kathleen does help me locate the right one.
As for my job? Ghost attacks have slightly increased in the last month. Vlad and I need to finish working on the spectral radar to uncover the hidden portals so we can figure out how to seal them. All in all? Life is going alright. Charlie's spelling bee is the next big thing for our family. Kathleen promised her children would be here to support my son during the competition.
So I truly hope they make it. I'll understand if something comes up last minute. But I want them to make it. Well, I will take a quick nap before my family returns. I need more naps since I've, for some unknown reason, been getting up at 4:30 in the morning for two weeks straight!" with that, she closed her diary and returned to the drawer. Then she snuggled under the covers for some much-needed sleep.
