Work Text:
Kaeya was the Cavalry Captain. From Treasure Hoaders to Fatui Agents to even Abyss Mages and Lectors, his life was *always* under threat. This continuous game of playing tag with death had developed a trait of self-protection in Kaeya.
He was always eyeing his surroundings, always watching out for drinks he had been given to make sure they were free of any sort of drug/poison. It was a normal thing for him really. He was always aware of his surroundings even when lounging about at the bar or roaming freely in the outskirts of Mondstat.
As a working and trusted member of the Ordo, many people wanted him *dead*. Kaeya was a smart and cunning man, having crafted himself in layers of poise and perfection, slipping on a happy charade around everyone yet in his own mind, he was doubting every single person *around* him.
So he hadn't taken any negative suggestions when he had accepted the invitation to a ball organized by affluent merchants who had come to Mondstat. They had given all the noblemen of Mondstat, as well as the Ordo Knights invitations to the ball. At first, Kaeya had planned he wouldn't go, for reasons he'd rather not disclose. But in the end, due to much convincing by Jean and Lisa, he decided it wouldn't hurt to go.
After all, he couldn't just turn down an invitation from such influential people. So with that in mind, he was now making his way into the ballroom of a luxurious mansion near the outskirts of Mondstat, where a lot of wealthy merchants were hosting their parties.
Kaeya walked over to the bar, ordered a glass of dandelion wine, and took a seat on one of the nearby placed bar stools, holding the sparkling glass in one hand as he gazed around the ballroom, taking small sips of his wine. He was rather tired today, having no energy to pay attention to much stuff around him.
In order to not have any pending work when he'd return back from the ball Kaeya had stayed up the first 2-3 days to finish up the paperwork piling at his desk. Hence his lack of awareness and the feeling of tiredness in every nerve.
Even his usually sharp sense of observation was impaired. It was then he noticed a rather tall man dressed in clothes that seemed to belong to Fontaine's dressing sense approach him, he gave Kaeya a polite smile, pulling up a bar stool next to the captain and ordering himself a drink.
The man's eyes twinkled with intelligence and warmth, and his voice seemed to carry a hint of an accent. He seemed to be a very intelligent man who possessed good social skills. He looked at Kaeya with a twinkle in his eye, a smirk forming at the corners of his mouth.
"I wonder why a beauty such as you are dining all alone here?" He asked,
his voice filled with warmth and sincerity.
"And why did you choose me to sit here?, Kaeya replied politely, placing his glass on the table before him. His hands, fingers folded across his lap, formed an elegant image that showed respectfulness.
The man tilted his head back and laughed slightly, "It's well-manners and courtesy for a man to not let another fine man drink wine alone."
He smiled at Kaeya kindly and reached to grab hold of his empty glass. "Mind if I get you a refill?" Although at every other time, Kaeya would have immediately declined the offer, this time he allowed the man to do so, because Kaeya felt genuinely tired and would prefer to sit here instead.
The man smiled and got up to place their glasses on the counter. Kaeya watched him leave with curious eyes.
When he returned from the bar, the stranger offered Kaeya one of two glasses and the man sat next to him with his own. Kaeya nodded once in thanks.
Kaeya took one of the glasses from him, giving the man a soft smile. He had wanted to head home at the earliest, wanting to catch on some sleep so he could get back to work in the morning. He felt a tint of headache emerge in the middle of his forehead as he took sips from the glass in his hand.
Kaeya could feel the man eyeing him from the corner of his eye, which he found...weird. The effects of the wine calmed down his nerves and gave his body an odd rest as Kaeya felt himself relax. The man glanced at him, wrapping an arm around Kaeya's shoulder, "Tired already?"
Kaeya shrugged the man off. He had no idea why the man suddenly started touching him. He didn't want to say 'yes', because he wasn't interested in the man.
The man chuckled lightly. He removed his arm around Kaeya and took a sip from his own glass. After swallowing the contents of the glass he put his arm around Kaeya again, placing his hand firmly atop Kaeya's thigh, rubbing gently with his thumb.
This time Kaeya pulled his leg back, causing the man to chuckle. "No need for that, Captain, my only intention is to give you company." He said softly.
Kaeya felt as if the power in his limbs had drastically drained, he felt even more tired than before, and an odd feeling soared in his head. It was like someone had poured hot water directly onto his brain. A wave of heat washed over him. He felt lightheaded and disoriented.
Then a sudden pain shot right through the area between Kaeya's brows, sending spikes of electricity shooting straight to his eyes and ears. It made him lose track of everything around him. He felt the stranger wrap his arms around Kaeya's body, and the blue-haired Captain flinched.
Then he heard the stranger talking, although it was too low and quiet for Kaeya to understand what he was saying.
Everything was getting dark around him, the noise and colors blurring, and he felt a strange chill run through his entire being. Kaeya opened his mouth to say something, anything yet nothing came out.
He felt the man's arms help him up, as they guided him somewhere. He didn't know why he was going wherever the man wanted him to go. All he knew was he didn't want to go anywhere but home. Home. Where was home?
It seemed as if they had entered some sort of private quarters as he felt the man hold his waist tightly, and use his other hand to lock the door behind them. Kaeya felt scared.
He wanted to scream and fight against these hands that held him, but he knew that his muscles were too weak to break out of their grip. The man pressed Kaeya up against one wall, his lips hovering close to Kaeya's ear. His words sounded as if coming from a great distance away.
"I've got my hands on you, after waiting so long." He felt the man place a hand on Kaeya's thighs, feeling his arms touching him everywhere, every part of his body. "Stop..." Kaeya begged, trying to push the man away in his haggard state. The man only chuckled lowly, his breath hot against Kaeya's ear, causing goosebumps to form on Kaeya's skin.
"Now, now...Don't get mad. We're just having some fun, aren't we?" The man said, his breath brushing against Kaeya's neck in a manner that left goose bumps appearing everywhere, leaving Kaeya shivering uncontrollably, and with tears starting to form in his eyes he finally felt a surge of adrenaline rush through his body, filling him with determination, forcing him to pull away from the wall.
He shoved the man off himself and onto the floor, gasping for air as he fumbled for the door handle in a desperate attempt to get away from this vile, disgusting man.
But then the man quickly grabbed Kaeya's wrist in a surprisingly strong grip. Kaeya tried his best to rip his arm away from him, however, he simply couldn't pull his wrist free, as his legs were numb and shaking. He felt dizzy, he needed to get away. He felt sick.
"Now now starlight, where do you think you're going?" He asked, as Kaeya struggled desperately against the man's grip. "We're having a good time, aren't we? Let's make it better than this."
"Let me go!" Kaeya screamed.
He had realized it, he knew why he felt so weak, so fragile. The man had taken advantage of his weakened state and drugged him, so he could have Kaeya easily.
A cold sweat broke out on the side of Kaeya's face. He felt like throwing up, he felt the urge to puke rise inside him, as his body began to tremble.
He felt extremely uncomfortable and uneasy. The man held his arms against the wall, and Kaeya shuddered, wanting to cry out.
"Don't worry...you'll love this.~ Just let me take you to bed..." He trailed his hand on Kaeya's body slowly, caressing every part of his skin from wherever he could get to it.
Kaeya struggled and pulled at his arms, attempting to escape. He wanted to run as far as possible, away from those hands which seemed to possess an almost evil will toward him.
Suddenly there was a flash of red hair in front of Kaeya's eyes and he felt the grip on his arms loosen, he tumbled to the floor, his legs giving away. From the fuzzy vision at the end of his eye, he could see a tall figure in front of him, a claymore held out in their hand, the man collapsed on the floor, staring at the red-haired man in shock.
"Don't you lay a fucking hand on him." Kaeya could recognize this voice everywhere, he practically grew up with the person to who this voice belonged. *"Diluc..."* He murmured, his head spinning and vision fading.
He saw Diluc point his claymore at the man, and grab him by the collar, yelling words out loud that Kaeya couldn't decipher. He saw the way Diluc punched the man, throwing his body towards the desk as the man cried out in pain.
He felt his consciousness fading, only being able to make out Diluc reaching out to him.
"Kaeya? Kaeya?! Kaeya! Wake up- Kaeya!"
Diluc called out, but he couldn't hear it anymore, all he heard was the rushing sound as he went under and darkness consumed him.
--
He opened his eyes, facing a white ceiling and white walls. He tried to move his body, but no movement came. All he could was move his eyes about and rotate his head in the slightest. His whole body felt heavy as if he was buried under an entire wall.
He moved his head to the side of the bed, seeing a mess of red hair sleeping in a really awkward and uncomfortable position near the bed. It was Diluc.
Kaeya reached a hand out to his brother, "Diluc..." He hoarsely whispered, his voice hoarse from dehydration.
Diluc awoke from his slumber upon hearing Kaeya call his name. He sat up abruptly and looked down at Kaeya. His eyes were wide, and Kaeya swore he could see the remains of tears in Diluc's eyes. "Kaeya!" He heard Diluc gasp as the man quickly got up from his chair, kneeling down right next to his brother.
*"How do you feel- do you need anything? Water?"* Kaeya directed him to get some water and Diluc quickly rushed out from the room, returning just as fast with a glass of water in his hand, he helped Kaeya sit up and let the man gulp the whole glass down in one go.
"Thank you." Kaeya said, placing the glass back down on the side table, he still felt weird, but it wasn't just as bad. He felt Diluc's eyes on him, and he cowered down in it.
"How could you be so reckless." He heard Diluc ask, and he visibly flinched. "How could you let that man drug you?!" Diluc said louder, his voice yelling at Kaeya.
Kaeya didn't dare say anything as he looked down at his lap, avoiding looking into Diluc's eyes. *Why would you put yourself at risk like this?!"
Diluc suddenly stopped and looked at Kaeya for a few moments, before sighing softly and running a hand through his hair.
He saw it. There were tear stains on the blanket wrapped around Kaeya, he could hear sniffles coming from the man, and Diluc regretted all he had said. He moved towards Kaeya, and then back again as he saw Kaeya flinch away from him, wrapping his arms around himself as if to shield himself.
Diluc was pained to see his brother this way, he knelt down next to Kaeya's bed, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you."
He muttered softly.
Kaeya remained silent as he continued to stare down at his lap. Diluc understood his silence, his heart shattering on the inside. He felt helpless.
There was nothing he could do about what he had done, nor could he take back his words.
All he could was try his best to support Kaeya.
