First Visit

Summary:

Devi's first time visiting Ben at Columbia since they started college.

Not really sure where this is going tbh. Short chapters are like little scenes from their weekend together.

Chapter 1

Summary:

Devi's arrival at Columbia.

Chapter Text

The first chance Ben and Devi had to visit each other at school, Devi took the train to New York on a Friday after her last class. She had been looking forward to this since Ben booked her ticket a few weeks ago, but now she was a little nervous. What if things were different in person? What if his friends didn’t like her? What if all their chemistry was just from missing each other?

The second she saw Ben, all her worries disappeared.

He looked so good. So Ben. He was wearing khakis, Jordans, and…a Princeton sweatshirt. As if she couldn’t love him more.

And his face. He had the biggest smile Devi had ever seen from him. He probably looked like such a dork in the train station with all these commuters who didn’t give a rat’s ass about their reunion. Ben ran over to Devi and embraced her in a bear hug.

“I have missed you so much,” he said into her hair. He pulled back, took a good look at her face, and kissed her like he needed her to live. Devi immediately felt weak in the knees and grabbed onto his shoulders while he grabbed her hips to keep her steady. As they pulled away, they seemed to remember they were in public, and most people here weren’t looking for a show.

“Hi,” Devi said, breathless.

“Hi David,” Ben replied, beaming.

“It is so good to see you.”

“Back at you. How was the train?” Ben asked, as he took Devi’s duffle bag from her and grabbed her hand. They started walking toward the exit.

“It was good! I did some studying so the time flew by.”

“Do you have more work to do this weekend? I planned some stuff for us to do, but we can make time for studying.”

“I’m actually ahead on everything, so unless you need study time, let’s stick with what you have planned,” Devi said as she pulled him over and gave him a quick kiss. “And I hope that includes some time in your bed? I know we have a couple new things in mind.”

Ben grimaced. “So, about that,” Devi immediately looked panicked. Shit, I came on too strong, she thought. “I really, really want to,” he continued. “But Greg’s conference was canceled, so he’ll be here this weekend. I just found out an hour ago. I am so, so sorry.”

“Oh. Um, that’s okay.”

“I’m sorry, David. Trust me, I would kick him out if I could.”

Devi laughed. “No, no, it’s okay! I’m looking forward to meeting him. Is he okay with me sleeping in your room, though?”

“Yes. That was the first thing I asked. He has no problem with you visiting and staying with us. Just no funny business. Keep your hands to yourself, Vishwakumar.”

“Not a problem for me, Gross. You’ll definitely crack first,” she challenged.

This was their dynamic. Despite their distance, they were still Ben and Devi. It was going to be a good weekend.
