Izuku watches Denki slap Hitoshi across the face with wide eyes, and he’s never felt more confused in his life as Eijirou cheers Denki on while Katsuki calls him a jackass.
“What’s going on?” asks Izuku as he nudges Shouto upon reaching his best friend’s boyfriend.
“Denki was making out with Eijirou on the couch, and Hitoshi confronted him about it because they’ve been dating for three weeks.” replies Shouto as steam rises off his skin, anger in his voice.
“And Denki slapped him because… Why?” asks Izuku with a growl as lightning sparks over his skin.
“Because he’s being a little bitch, thinking I could ever actually love him.” sneers Denki as electricity zaps from his fingers.
“And cheating is bullshit that deserves proper punishment. You told him you loved him, you useless battery charger.” sneers Izuku as he steps forward, getting between them as his anger surges through the room.
“I told you not to be a dumbass.” huffs Katsuki from behind Izuku, sounding proud and amused.
“Come on, Midobro, he came in here acting like they were something they weren’t, and he called Denks a bastard.” says Eirjiou as he steps between them, trying to persuade Izuku to calm down and see the reasoning.
“And they were dating, everybody knows that. The idiot asked Hitoshi out during training. And they just went out last night for dinner and a movie. And I know this because I had to help dress Hitoshi for his third date while my fucking heart was shattering. So, don’t you dare come over here talking about Toshi like that!” snarls Izuku as he steps closer, glaring at Eijirou, daring him to say something else.
“Midobro, you can’t be on his side.” says Eijirou, slack jawed as he drops his hands to his side.
“I am on his side, always. Now get the fuck outta my face before I Detroit smash you two to pieces.” sneers Izuku as he steps forward, OFA charged up and ready to go.
“ZuZu, relax a little. You’re scaring the children.” says Hitoshi softly as he ducks around to wrap an arm around Izuku’s waist, forearm pressing into abs.
“Well, it’d be easier to calm down if these two weren’t being dumbasses.” grumbles Izuku as he looks at Hitoshi, almost to the point of pouting as he looks at him.
“I say let the nerd take ‘em out.” says Katsuki as he steps up next to Izuku, nudging him with a wild grin on his face.
“I say that somebody had better tell me why the fuck there’s a handprint on my son’s face, and somebody better start talking now.” comes the low growl of Shota Aizawa, drawing everyone’s attention to his entrance at the door, and he’s got his quirk activated, eyes locked on Hitoshi, Izuku, and Denki.
“Well, if you want those answers… Then you should ask Kaminari.” says Izuku as he glares at said individual.
“Denki Kaminari, why is there a handprint on my son’s face?” asks Shota lowly as he walks over to them, looking between them.
“Because he was being a dick.” says Denki matter-of-factly, not even looking at Aizawa as he sticks his tongue out at Hitoshi.
“Denki Kaminari, I’m going to ask you one more time, and this time, I want you to be as thoughtful as your over-sparked brain can be when speaking about my child. Why is there a handprint on Hitoshi’s face.” Shota accentuates over every letter, his anger speaking as he glares wholly at Denki.
“Well, he came and acted like I was cheating on him because I was kissing my boyfriend.” says Denki with a flinch as Aizawa’s glare seems to get icier.
“You two have been dating for almost a month, you told Mic you were going to ask him out before you asked him out. So, pray tell, how was he acting like you were cheating when you actually were cheating?” asks Shota as he narrows his eyes at Denki, a brow arching as Denki pales noticeably.
“I- W- Well, I just-” Denki is stuttering, moving to hide behind Eijirou, cowering.
“Dad, don’t. It’s over, and I’m better off for it. Can we go home to see Pops? And can Izu, Kats, and Sho come too?” asks Hitoshi as he looks at his dad, trying to ease the tension that doesn’t seem even the slightest bit close to evaporating as everyone surrounds them to watch the drama show that has become his life.
“That’s fine, but I am going to say something. And I want each and every one of you to hear me. Cheating gets you nowhere in life, eventually it’s going to bite you in the ass. Remember that, and remember the relationships you ruin, the people you scorn, they will always find better, always.” says Shota coldly as he looks at every single person surrounding them, then he turns and Tenya moves out of his way, nodding respectfully. “Let’s go boys. If we hurry, you might be able to see Eri before she’s put down for bed. They will be staying with us, Tenya, Momo.”
“Wonderful, let’s see how Eri’s first day of school was!” cheers Izuku as he and Katsuki nudge each other.
“She probably kicked her first day of school’s ass, can’t wait to hear all about it!” replies Katsuki coolly as he takes up the rear of their line, Hitoshi leading them from behind Shota.
“She definitely did.” says Shota over his shoulder, hints of a smirk curving his lips.
“Of course, she did. We taught her well, Kats.” Calls Hitoshi over his shoulder, pride in his voice.
“But the second she starts cursing, don’t nobody come find me.” says Izuku as he chuckles, repeating Katsuki’s wording when they talked about how she’d do at school.
“And you better remember that ‘cause ‘Zawa curses more than I do.” says Katsuki from behind him as they make it out the door and curve around on the sidewalk to head to the dorm building that was made for the teachers.
“Don’t worry, Zashi has already informed me that I will be picking her up when the time comes that she gets in trouble for cursing in school.” says Shota as they line up next to him, chuckling softly into his capture weapon.
“He did, it was a whole thing.” agrees Hitoshi with a chuckle as he reaches a hand around Shouto to make grabby hands at Izuku. “Izu, let the lover-boys walk together, and come walk with me.”
“Coming Toshi!” exclaims Izuku with a giggle as he switches places with Shouto who had been walking by Hitoshi because he and Shota were talking in hushed tones before they got onto the Eri cursing topic.
“I see how you are Toshi, you don’t like me anymore. Fine, Kats, he’s being mean to me!” whines Shouto teasingly, laughing when Hitoshi links his arm with Izuku to use as a shield as Katsuki lets some mini explosions pop off.
“Alright, children, settle down. Don’t make me erase your quirks, you problem children.” says Shota with laughter in his voice as they reach the building, walking up the two steps to walk into the building through the door that’s been propped open with a doorstopper.
“Yes Dadzawa.” The boys say this in unison with matching shit-eating grins, and Shota shakes his head as he leads them to the elevator to go up to the third floor.
“Problem children, you’re all problem children.” grumbles Shota softly as he clicks the number three button in the elevator, shaking his head at them as Izuku leans back on Hitoshi and smacks at Katsuki with blackwhip while Katsuki and Hitoshi nudge their arms together as Katsuki holds Shouto by the waist. “Children, do not mess up our elevator, we just got this thing fixed.”
They stop, all turning to look at him, and Hitoshi is the one who broaches the topic, asking, “When was the elevator messed up, and who did it?”
“You do not want to know who did it, all you need to know is Nezu didn’t put Midnight on probation for nothing.” replies Shouta with a grimace as the elevator starts to slow to a stop.
“I don’t want to know anything else. No more. Just knowing it had to do with Auntie Nem was bad enough, dad!” whines Hitoshi as he buries his face in Izuku’s hair as Izuku reaches around to pat his shoulder supportively.
“Well, you asked. I’m the one that actually knows what happened, and trust me, just giving you Nemuri was better than saying anything else.” replies Shota with a huff as he steps out of the elevator as soon as the doors creak open on their floor.
Shota stops short outside of the elevator at the sight of his apartment door open, and he grips his capture weapon tightly as he holds an arm out to keep the boys back. He creeps up to the room, and he carefully peeks his head around to see into the apartment, and he has to swing back quickly to avoid the pillow that is thrown into his face.
“You two are playing with pillows, meanwhile I’m over here thinking I had to beat somebody’s ass.” says Shota with a tired sigh as he waves the boys forward and more pillows are launched out the apartment as Eri’s giggles fill the halls.
“We wanted to have a mini pillow fight, but I wanted to win. So, we decided to leave the door open and add in the element of a surprise attack!” cheers Eri as she and Hizashi step out of the apartment, Eri on Hizashi’s back.
“I didn’t realize you’d be bringing the boys- Shota, why is there a handprint on my son’s face?” asks Hizashi lowly as he takes in Hitoshi, Eri jumping into Shota’s arms at the anger in Hizashi’s voice.
“Pops, it was a situation with Denki, we apparently weren’t dating so him kissing Kirishima and me calling him out required violence. I’m fine, I just need to ice my cheek.” says Hitoshi lazily as he slouches against the wall enough to lay his head on Izuku’s head, burying his cheek in the green curls.
“He clearly doesn’t understand what a relationship is, or did he have ulterior motives? That’s not that important, as long as you are okay… so, does that mean it’s finally IzuToshi time?” asks Hizashi softly, curious as he looks at them, eyes falling to their tangled fingers and lifting to see the way they’re pressed tightly together.
“Are you dating Izu now, Toshi? That’s so cool!” squeals Eri excitedly as she claps, jostling in Shota’s arms so she can cheer.
“Uh- We- We’re not- I-” Izuku is stuttering, his cheeks a bright red, but he doesn’t pull away, and Hitoshi says, “I think that’s a conversation to be had at a later date, if Izuku is interested in having it, since the whole thing that happened with Denki was less than thirty minutes ago.”
“Ah, understandable! So, you lot wanna come in and make yourselves comfortable? We were just getting Eri ready for bed before Sho had to come to the dorms.” says Hizashi as he quickly moves the conversation on, letting Eri get back on his back and leading them into the apartment.
Izuku follows Shota, tugging Hitoshi with him by his fingers, but then he and Hitoshi detour into the kitchen for a moment after his insistent tugging.
“What’s up, bunny?” asks Hitoshi after Izuku crinkles his nose when he lets go of Hitoshi’s hand.
“I- I just- What Mic said- And you said-” stutters Izuku as he looks at Hitoshi, wringing his hands as he paces in the kitchen, trying to shove the words out, but fear has its claws in him good.
“Izuku, I- Izuku,” says Hitoshi as he steps in front of Izuku, stopping his pacing as he rests his hands softly on Izuku’s shoulders, trying to calm him. “Just take a breath, and then say whatever it is you need to say. I’m right here, and I got you no matter what.”
“I just- I- Hitoshi, do you… Would that even be a conversation you’d want to have? Me and you being more than we are?” asks Izuku quietly, meek and uncertain as Hitoshi’s hands fall until they’re holding his, looking at him with fear-filled, wide green eyes.
“I wouldn’t be opposed to having that conversation, to us being more, but I don’t want to overstep any boundaries or anything like that.” replies Hitoshi softly as he holds Izuku’s hands, trying to be as calm as he can to ease some of Izuku’s nerves.
“I- I would really, really like to have that conversation when you’re ready.” says Izuku quietly, certainty in his voice as he meets Hitoshi’s eyes, genuine and soft.
“I wouldn’t want to make you wait.” says Hitoshi softly, a wince as he thinks about how long it might actually take him to not be a ball of emotional mess over Denki. He was his first friend, the first person, aside from Izuku, to tell him that he’d be a great hero, and the first person he truly trusted. And now, he was the closest person to him that has betrayed him. It would hurt less if he hadn’t caught him kissing Kirishima, but he did, and that sucked.
“Hitoshi, you just got betrayed by someone you wholly trusted, and you liked him, a lot. I would never want to push you to heal, so I will wait. It’s a conversation I’ve been kinda waiting for, so I have no problem waiting longer.” replies Izuku as he reassures Hitoshi and makes a little confession of his own, shy and red in the face as Hitoshi’s brow arches in response.
“Bunny, how long have you wanted to have this conversation?” asks Hitoshi both curious and suspicious as his other brow joins the first in raising up as Izuku’s face goes deep red, and he tries his best to hide it with their hands. “Izuku… How long?”
“Since first year? I- You just- You’re so pretty, Toshi, and your sarcasm is perfect, the way you’re so unabashedly yourself despite the hell you’ve been through, the confidence you ooze despite constantly saying you have no confidence, big brother Toshi is beyond adorable, I swear you make my heart beat out of my chest any time I see you with Eri, and I just- How can I not feel this way about you after getting to know you?” rambles Izuku as his words are just slightly muffled by the hands he’s trying to hide his bright red face in, embarrassed but honest.
“Give me a little bit of time, Izu, and I promise to take you out on a date that will blow your mind.” says Hitoshi genuinely as he moves his hands so he can lift Izuku’s face and look him in his eyes, smiling softly as he sees the surprise join the embarrassment in his emerald, green eyes. “Izuku, I’ve adored you since our fight. You were interesting then, and when you approached me afterwards, trying to talk to me about how ‘amazing’ my quirk is, I was surprised at the way my heart practically beat out of my chest. Bunny, you’re absolutely adorable, hot as hell, and the sweetest person I’ve ever met, and Eri is my sister. Your rambles never get old, and I am obsessed with listening to you tell movie tidbits even if it’s during a movie because I love the way you paint a bigger picture than the movie does. Give me some time, but I’ve liked you for far longer than I liked Denki. And I will not lose a chance to see what we could be, especially when I know you want too as well.”
Izuku stares at him with wide eyes that soften, but then he closes his eyes and tears fall down his cheeks as he whispers, “I wanna kiss you 'cause that was the sweetest thing anybody has ever said to me, but I don’t want to overstep so can you just hug me?”
Hitoshi chuckles softly before he gathers Izuku in his arms, holding him around the waist and burying his face in green curls. He whispers, “Give me a week, and I’m going to cash in on that kiss, bunny.”
In exactly one week, Hitoshi pulls Izuku onto his lap during movie night, and he stops his rambling with a soft kiss that quiets Izuku down as he dips in to get more kisses. Two days later, they’re going to an amusement park for their first date, and then they watch Disney movies with Eri because it’s not a school night. And their night ends with a kiss in the doorway of class A dorms as Hitoshi drops Izuku off at his building on his way to his own.
