    (An exploration of how canon could have unfolded, if Haku survived the fight on the bridge)

    Zabuza finds Haku just barely clinging to life, and does the one thing he never thought he could bring himself to: he begs for help.

    Kakashi takes pity on him and lends a hand for Haku's sake, at the risk of his own reputation. But when Haku awakens, he's stricken with grief at his own survival, and Zabuza's arms don't even work to shake some sense back into him.
