Work Text:

Arguments were commonplace between the members of Crazy:B. It’s hard to have such, let’s just say, interesting members and expect everyone to get along swimmingly. Though they were usually just little spat here and there, sometimes things could get worse but it normally never a truly bad argument.

Perhaps HiMERU was having an off day, maybe Rinne was having a bad day, likely both with how they ended up at each other's throats. Luckily for the sake of their images, Crazy:B didn’t have any work, it was a simple, easy practice day. It was meant to be simple and easy. Any mess up or Rinne typical joke would be met with small comments and over-exaggerated exasperation from HiMERU. That attitude began to get onto Rinne’s nerves as well, beginning to take more digs at HiMERU, the teasing lit to them getting more and more lost as they continued to trade comments. Progress was being slowed based on their passive aggressiveness and despite their efforts, Niki and Kohaku couldn’t seem to fully calm either of them down. Eventually, although Crazy:B had no work Kohaku had to depart, having work as Kohaku of Double Face. He apologized for needing to leave, giving a very guilty look to Niki who would be left with the two arguing.

“There is no need for apologies Oukawa, you are dedicated to your work and keeping good relationships by doing such things as being on time, unlike someone.” HiMERU spoke the last couple words quieter than the rest but it was still heard nonetheless. Rinne audibly clicked his tongue. Giving one last worried look to each of the other three members, Kohaku departed. With one less person the air in the practice room seemed to get heavier. The panic was starting to build in Niki as the silence loomed over the three.

“We should take a break!” Needing to fill the room with something other than the animosity Niki blurted out the first thing that popped into his brain. “Since Kohaku left it’s a good time to take one, relax a bit and maybe eat something…” Niki trailed off with a stiff awkward laugh.

“Sounds like a good plan, Niki!” Rinne responded, going over to Niki, throwing his arm around him, “Always got good ideas, don't ya, better than somebody else.” Rinne’s gaze traveled directly to HiMERU, who responded with a simple eye roll.

Niki couldn’t take it anymore, letting out a slight yell of frustration he rushed over to the door, startling both HiMERU and Rinne. Half way out of the door Niki spoke, “I don’t know what’s wrong with you both today but I’m not coming back until you both sorted out!” With that he shut the door leaving the two left in the practice room.

“Seems ya scared him away, guess you’re keeping the distance from us like you wanted.” HiMERU nearly dropped the bottle he was holding.

“Is that what you’re so upset about? Don’t be so childish, Amagi.” Rinne crossed his arms.

“Is it childish to want to get to know the people I’m working with?”

“You know plenty about HiMERU.” Rinne let out a noise of frustration.

“You’re plenty aware that I don't give a shit about HiMERU, I want to know about you.” HiMERU could feel his annoyance reaching its peak once again.

“HiMERU is HiMERU, there is nothing else to know.” Rinne stepped closer to HiMERU getting in his personal space.

“We both know there is more to you than HiMERU.” He extenuates his point by jabbing a finger at HiMERU’s chest. Returning Rinne’s heated gaze with a searing glare of his own.

“What does it matter to you anyways?” His voice went cold, “We are unit mates Amagi. That is all.” HiMERU’s words seemed to strike a chord within Rinne, the hurt visible on his face for all but a moment. Seeing that expression upon Rinne’s face made HiMERU stumble for a moment, losing all the anger he had felt.

“Just unit mates.” Rinne let out a laugh, unlike any he had heard the other make before. “If that’s what you want, fine then.” Rinne turned away from him, “I’m guessin’ this conversation is over, I’m going to find Niki.” Beginning to walk away, Rinne slightly turned to him, “You’re free to do whatever you want, HiMERU.” For all his efforts to get Rinne to say that name, it sounded so wrong, it hurt.

“Wait!” HiMERU found himself shouting out as Rinne’s hand found the door knob. He turned back to HiMERU with nothing but a single raised eyebrow. HiMERU had shouted out without much of a plan, but he had to say something, he had to fix this. “HiMERU, he-” Stumbling as he panicked for what to say, “HiMERU didn’t mean that.” Emotions running rampant, he didn’t dare wonder what facial expression he could be making, whatever it was surely wasn’t fit for the idol HiMERU.

“Then what did you mean by that?” Rinne stayed stationed by the door, ready to leave if HiMERU slipped up all but once. “You said it pretty clearly.”

“HiMERU knows that you care for all members of Crazy:B, he didn’t mean to imply that you were nothing to HiMERU.” His words seemed to be having no effect on Rinne. “Crazy:B is important-” Before he could finish that sentence Rinne cut him off.

“To who?” HiMERU responded with a noise of confusion, “Ya heard me. I asked who exactly Crazy:B was important to. Are we just important to keep the name HiMERU alive or are we important to you? ” It was a loaded question, Rinne knew when he asked it, but he wanted an answer. “I know Crazy:B is real important to me,” Rinne paused and let out the closest thing to a real laugh HiMERU had heard from him all day. “After all I’ve done quite a few stupid things to try and keep you all safe.” That comment also dragged a short airy laugh from HiMERU.

“You certainly have done foolish things.” HiMERU cast his eyes down. “HiMERU is still upset that he couldn’t stop you that first time.” Swallowing his nerves, HiMERU pulled all he could together, “Crazy:B is important to HiMERU but not only HiMERU.” He peered back up at Rinne hoping he would understand the unspoken words.

“You're lucky all our arguin’ has tired me out, normally I’d bug ya until you properly said it.” Rinne finally moved from his rooted position by the door, closer to HiMERU once again. At last the tense air that had flowed through the practice room the whole day was lifted.

“HiMERU is glad you understand the sentiment.” The tension lifted from HiMERU’s mind as well. HiMERU didn’t want to ruin the newly restored good mood but couldn’t help the lingering questions in his mind. “HiMERU is curious Amagi.” Rinne made a sound, motioning for HiMERU to continue. “Why…why do you care so much about getting to know HiMERU?” Rinne seemed mildly surprised that HiMERU asked but felt compelled to respond.

“Well, you’re part of Crazy:B Merumeru, you’re just as important as the other two to me.” It was a moment of softness from Rinne, “Even if I don’t know a lot about you, I know I want to.” Rinne made sure to lock eyes with HiMERU, “I like the parts of the real Merumeru I have seen.” That got to HiMERU, how could Rinne say something like that without a problem?

“You’re an embarrassment Amagi.”  Smirking at HiMERU, Rinne move even more into HiMERU’s personal space.

“Yet you’re still here, even admitted to carin’ about me~” HiMERU could feel his annoyance coming back, yet it carried no malice. A fond smile made its way to his face.

“HiMERU is part of Crazy:B after all, where else would he go?” Rinne brightens at HiMERU teasing back.

“Damn right, you're stuck here Merumeru.” Growing bolder with his teasing Rinne reached out and grabbed one of HiMERUs hands. “You’re stuck with me .” He brought the hand up, leaving a fleeting kiss upon his ring finger, making HiMERU flush from the contact and implications.

“Amagi! You-” HiMERU’s retort trailed off as he looked past Rinne. Near the door was NIki, looking like a deer caught in headlights, HiMERU didn’t imagine he looked much better.

“Niki! When’d you get back?” Niki shifted his attention to Rinne, glancing back and forth between him and HiMERU. Gaining a semblance of control over his body, Niki jumped back rushing straight back through the door.

“I’m sorry for interrupting!” Before either could utter another word Niki was once again gone from the practice room. Leaving behind a flustered HiMERU and a cackling Rinne.

Notes:

I can't write pure angst nor is this fully hurt comfort, stick around for day 6 for that I think that one is shaping up much better but I hope you enjoyed them going from petty to soft.
Poor Niki.

And no Rinne never let go of HiMERU's hand.
