There has been a lot of rainfall and mist recently these past few weeks, Horangi noticed. With all these new weather changes, everyone has been more relaxed in a kind of way. It felt relaxing weirdly enough, all the rain and misty weather.
It was evening, Horangi and König were just relaxing in the presence of each other. Surprisingly enough, Horangi would never have guessed he would have gotten this close to the 6 '10 man when he first met him. But their personalities had fitted each other quite well, and now they pretty much hung out whenever they had the chance.
Just because they genuinely liked being in the presence of one another, although they probably wouldn't admit this to each other.
Two peas in a pod, people would say.
As they were sitting down, Horangi carefully peeled an orange tangerine. He made sure his rough hands didn't accidentally scar the orange. He wanted the orange to be nice and smooth for König. König meanwhile, was watching the soft rain, as the large umbrella covered them both from getting wet.
Horangi carefully peeled the orange, and left the leftover skin resting on his lap. After he was done peeling, he peeled off a slice, letting it release from all its other orange sisters and brothers. He gave the slice to König.
“Ah, thank you.” König finally broke the silence with his soft, but excited voice, as he took the orange slice. As he was about to eat it, Horangi quickly looked away, to respect his privacy. Although he always wondered how the Austrian looked underneath his mask, there was a good chance he wasn’t going to see his face anytime soon. Horangi looked at the orange, peeling a slice for himself, and then partly taking down his mask to eat it, lightly chewing the sweet, but also slightly sour orange. It had a slightly wrinkly skin, but otherwise it was nice fruit.
This cycle continued on for a bit, Horangi giving an orange to König, before quickly looking away to eat his own slice.
Suddenly, König, in a low hushed voice, called out his name, “Horangi…?”
“Hm?” Horangi quickly turned his head to look at him, before being immediately shushed by him. Horangi tilted his head, confused, before König scooted a little bit closer to him.
Secretly, Horangi kinda liked his closeness. He could feel the warmth of the giant near him.
“Horangi I’m sorry for that, but I think there’s a kitty over there.” He said in a somewhat excited and happy tone, although it stayed hushed. König pointed his fingers at the distance, and Horangi turned his head, and he was right.
There was a small black kitty in the green grass, relaxing as it stared at the two men. The two immediately made themselves shut-up, as they stared back at the kitty.
After what felt like a good minute or two of a staring contest, Horangi finally spoke up.
“Should we uh… go to it?” He suggested in a very quiet tone, his head very close to König. Horangi could feel his face lightly warm up. It was a strange feeling, so he ignored it instead.
“What if we scare it?” He brought up, with concern.
That made Horangi quiet again, as he continued to stare at the black kitty.
As if it was magic, the small kitty got on its little paws, and started to walk up towards the two men. Horangi could practically feel König tense up once the cat started to come towards them. Horangi couldn’t help but feel amused, as he watched the little kitty tread towards them.
Soon enough, a very small kitten in front of them looked up at the men, and the two men looked down at the cat. Horangi leaned in forward, and took the small cat within his hands.
“Ah- Horangi be gentle with him!”
Horangi brought the small kitten up to his face. The kitten was able to fit in his entire palm. Its little paws dangled from the sides, as it quietly meowed. It was the same weight as the orange in a kind of way.
He then took off the small sticker from the orange peel, and placed it on top of the kitties head. The small sticker burying itself onto the kitties scruffy black hair.
Horangi couldn’t help but softly laugh, while König looked at the cat with awe; but also a little bit of confusion. The sticker read, “Cutie” on it, with a dumb cartoon drawing of an orange with eyes. Both of them stared at the kitty, examining it. The kitty had big yellow eyes, wide open and as it continued to stare back.
“Cutie.” König said with an amused tone. He brought his big hand over the kitten's head, as he gently scratched and petted the head of the kitten. The kitten closed its big eyes, and softly purred.
The cat had pretty much taken the hearts away from Horangi and König.
“May I… hold it? Please?” König asked politely, with an endearing tone, which Horangi oddly liked. He gave the cat to König.
Comically, The kitten practically started to rest again in Königs hand, as it fitted perfectly, like a tea cup. The kitten purred and yawned, as König practically melted. Horangi could tell, he had a way more happier and protective attitude, as he used his other hand to gently pet the kitten’s head.
“It’s a girl.”
“Huh?” König looked at Horangi with a surprised voice.
Horangi crossed his arms, “Ah, my grandmother used to have these crazy amounts of cats, it was annoying. But because of that, I kinda learned how to differentiate the girls and the guys.”
König’s eyes widened.
“You used to have cats??” He said it in a very exciting tone, still holding the black kitten closely.
Horangi chuckled, “Not me, my grandmother did. But yeah, that cat is a girl,”
“It’s not, “Just a cat” her name is Cutie! And, she’s a kitty actually” König exclaimed, bringing the cat up to Horangi’s face. The sticker was still on his head.
Horangi slightly tilted his head. He couldn’t help but smile as he crossed his arms.
“You named it already? And you named her after the orange brand?”
König rubbed her head again. “Well I think she's a Cutie, no?” His watery blue eyes looked at Horangi with a pleading look.
Cutie meowed.
There was another moment of silence, as they continued to stare at the cat, while König held Cutie. Horangi had never seen him be so gentle and considerate with anyone or anything really. It was kinda cute, in a way.
Finally König broke the silence.
“Can cats eat oranges Horangi?” König asked with some concern. It seemed like he wanted to feed the cat something.
“Ah nah, it's a citrus, it's kinda poisonous so it’s kinda bad for them to eat.”
“Oh,” König said with some disappointment, “Well later let's get this kitty food,”
Horangi looked at him, “Why not now?”
“Ah, well it’s because I rather be here with you for now and relax,”
He said that rather quietly, but Horangi’s sharp ears picked up everything.
Horangi felt warm, so he started to peel another orange carefully to share his love with one way or another, through orange slices.
