Regency era England AU: Royal Navy Captain Tom Kazansky is the youngest son of the powerful Duke of Marlborough. He's in love with Lieutenant Pete Mitchell with whom he's serving together on a ship. They want to marry, against the wishes of Tom's family. Two weeks before the planned announcement Pete disappears. Eighteen years later Tom is now the Duke of Marlborough, inheriting the title and the estate after a series of family tragedies. He's never married and he's raising Bradley, the orphaned son of a fellow sailor as his ward. One day a young poacher is arrested on the estate and he's brought to the Duke. The boy's name is Jake, he bears strong resemblance to the men of the Kazansky family and he's wearing Tom's Navy ring on a chain around his neck - the ring Tom gave to his fiance before Pete's disappearance. The subsequent events uncover a dark family secret and reignite a love thought to be long lost.
