Chapter Text
“…Alright, you got all of that? Or do I have to repeat it a third time for you?”
“Of course I do!”
“…”
“Is that a lie-”
“Oh, come on, stop worrying! As much as it’s cute that you care about me, I know the mission. Trust me!”
“That’s what I’m worry about.”
“Did I do a good job last time?”
“You went off-course, had your involvement present in an event you weren’t supposed too interfere, and ended up letting the black haired girl know too much! While it was just a simple recon mission! And even worse in the end, you made up an excuse that you got sidetracked!”
“I got the job done still.”
“…*sigh* Why did I decide to pick you out of everyone to be my apprentice?”
“Hey, you’re the one who saved me from death and said that you need someone as a partner so we can keep each other even in balance. I’m still very grateful for that, you know, and own you one. I’m serious.”
“Look, you don’t own me anything, I- What I’m trying to say is that you can’t keep making mistakes like these. It might one day come back and hit you in the back.”
“Maybe, hehehe.”
“Are you even taking me serious?”
“I am! Just have confidence!”
"That’s why I’m worried… Back to the main task, you know what to do, right?”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m prepared! I send the thing to them and see how it goes. Then I go find the her you told me about to deliver the ‘package’. Simple, easy peasy!”
“And you know what to do after that?”
”Yep, I got it.”
“Okay. And remember, it’s best if you don’t mention who I am or anything about me, otherwise I don’t want him to find out. It would cause an issue and complicate things with our goals and associated with.”
“Gotcha. Great! So I have everything I need then!”
“Wait, K-”
”Hey, hey, hey, what did I say about calling each other by our nicknames when we talk?”
“Isn’t that a bit childish-”
“Well if we don't want to be capture, and the enemies find out our names and torture us, shouldn't we have alias to cover up?"
"...Fine. Phantom Theft, b-"
“Phantom for short."
“..."
“You're really pushing this aren't you?"
“Nee-heehee. Perhaps."
“*Sigh* Phantom, just... make sure you be careful. Keep yourself safe as well, because... I have a feeling this will be different to the last assignment."
“Don't worry, I will, mom! Alright, I'll be off now~"
...
“You can show yourself now."
"Is he going to follow your orders?"
“No, not really. He'll most likely do the first phase, but then he might go off-task afterwards and do his own things.”
“And you’re not at least worried about it?”
“Well, no, but if you’ve known him for a while like I have, he can be troublesome and problematic with his personality, but he can push things in the right direction.”
“Sounds like you were expecting him to do that.”
“I wouldn’t really say I was, more like I saw how his eyes shined in interest when I talked to him about the mission, so I could tell what his intentions and predict what his exact moves he makes.”
“I see… Hmm… are you sure he’s ready to take something like this?”
“He may look immature, but he can have a good heart and knows what’s right to wrong, even though he causes 90% of those problems.”
“It’s not that I’m doubting who you choose as your successor, I fully believe your choice of decision, just that he doesn’t seem to take situations like these all as much serious and lightly jokes about it.”
“…”
“He thinks working with the power you unlock for him can give him a lot of leverage to do his goals and play both sides of the board without consequences from what I seen of him so far.”
“I know. But sooner or later, he’ll soon learn how serious this job is and become mature. Besides, whatever a troublemaker or not in the past, we need all the help we can get to fight this multiversal threat.”
“And one day, he will take my place.”
Meanwhile, located somewhere else…
In the room of one of the popular singer groups of Japan was where Nene Kusanagi played her video game console sitting on her bed. It was a few minutes before she had practice with the other WxS members, so she had some time to kill beforehand. She was in an intense battle co-op with two random teammate, one who used a bunny-hooded character and the other was using a scythe-welding character. Her eyes glued to the screen as she focused on winning the battle against the final three opponents + boss, while trying to help her last surviving teammate, the bunny character. The enemies were all on low health, and as she finally got ready to put an end to the battle with just a little bit more after taking the three enemies before doing her final ultimate…
Her phone shook, alerting her of a message and snapping her from her focus.
As she took a look at her phone with one hand, she misclicked on her controller pad, and when she looked back, only to see her character fell in battle to the boss, leaving her teammate to their own demise. Nene groans, and puts down the controller to turn her attention to the phone.
It was from Rui, her friend and fellow troupe member of WxS. Apparently, he, Emu, and Tsukasa all started without her, and he was asking where the gray haired girl was.
Guess she got so focused on the game that she completely mis-read the time and lost track.
As Nene exited the video game and closed it down, she stood up from her bed as she scrolled with one hand through her music list to find the song to enter the Sekai.
That’s when she noticed something strange while going trying to find Mada Hajimatte sura Inai.
There were another Untitled song.
Nene stared at the Untitled song in confusion. She refreshed the playlist to see if anything would happen, only for the Untitled song to still be in the exact same place. Didn’t Miku say that Tsukasa had already found his and their true feelings? Why was there another Untitled song? Does Tsukasa and the others know about this?…No, they don’t likely seem too judging by looking at the text message and their group one. So where did it come from?
Then almost as if it was timed like her mind was being read, the sound vibrate of a new message suddenly alerted her. She switched back to her text messages to see a new number she didn’t recognize appeared in her contacts, but the title of the group chat’s name was called “READ ME”.
She clicked on the new message, and saw a email that was inserted in the chat. She read the following words:
Greetings Miss Kusanagi.
Due to very specific reasons, I can’t disclose who I am or my name. But don’t worry, you can trust me! In fact, I’m friends with your friend, Miku! So that’s how I know allllllllllll about you and your little troupe show friends and the Sekai’s! But back on topic now, the reason why I contacted you in the first place through this is because I want you to try out something for me. And it involves that Untitled Sekai. I thought this would fit more to ask you instead of your leader of your troupe since it involves video games! You see, I work in a game company, and me and my band, whose name isn’t important, have been assign to do the music for a new video game. But we only wrote the lyrics and beats to it, so I would like you to be our honor guest to hear the first of our music ost to give us a review on how it is, and also first experience the new video game in the Untitled Sekai!
You can also bring your troupe friends to come as well if you like too!
From, a fellow anonymous friend.
Once Nene read through the message, she had a lot more questions than answers. There’s someone else like her with a Sekai? They know Miku? They created the Untitled Sekai? New video game? (Which interested her the most.) She’s invited to test it? Why her?
Finally, her curiosity soon won her over, pushing any suspicion away in her mind for the moment, and she looked back to her phone, going over to her playlist. Nene stared at the Untitled song like looking at into the unknown.
Well, there’s no harm in checking it out, right?
Nene clicked on the play button next to the Untitled song, before her phone screen began to flash bright a white light, the same thing that happens when you press "Untitled" expectedly. However, Nene felt a sudden dizziness and her mind spin.
What’s…happening?
Nene could only ask this last question as she felt dizzy, before her mind went blank and everything went dark.
Unknown to the gray haired singer of WxS, just outside her bedroom window not far from her house, the silhouette of a young man standing ontop of a lamp post inches away in the distance.
He lowered his phone he was using to watch from its camera lens. He had a sly grin on his face as he adjusted the cape flying in the wind behind him and tipped his hat on his head to one side.
“Nee-heehee~ Stage one, complete.” He said, rising up his phone from the side of him and opening to his messages. “Now on to the next part of the plan.”
“But first, let me check in with the Captain to see if she has everything ready…”
