Work Text:
Hanzo Shimada was a nervous wreck.
This was far from the first time he's spent a day apart from his cowboy. In their line of work, it's inevitable that there would be times when the two would be sent off on separate assignments. Despite accepting this fact, it didn't mean Hanzo had to like it. The archer secretly felt a mission was incomplete without the gunslinger flirting with him over the comm, no matter how unprofessional it technically was. Of course Hanzo trusted his teammates explicitly, but he would always prefer watching Cassidys back himself from above. Nights were always easier with his beloved sleeping next to him. The past haunted his dreams less and if they were able to torment him, it was much easier to calm with strong arms wrapped around him and a soothing heartbeat to listen to.
Yet in this moment, Hanzo thinks, none of that compares to the need to see his dearest right now.
"Brother, can you please stop fidgeting?!" Genji exclaimed. He was trying to style his brothers hair and the constant movement was certainly not helping.
"My apologies." The elder Shimada's voice wavered as he spoke which made the younger sigh.
"Hanzo, you have nothing to worry about. You know how much Cole loves you.”
”I know.” Hanzo takes a moment before continuing. “You would think after three years together I would be able to convince myself I am good enough for him.”
”You are. The two of you were made for each other.”
The archer takes a long breathe as he looks over at the three small dragons playing together on his bed. A smile comes to his face as he thinks, not for the first time, how lucky he is to have this.
“Thank you Genji. I cannot express how glad I am to have you back. Especially today.”
”I could say the same. I’m so happy you’re finally getting to truly live the life you’ve always deserved. I love you anija.” Genji finishes tying the ribbon in Hanzo’s hair and goes to sit beside him.
”I love you too, outoto” Hanzo couldn’t hold back his sob and gathered Genji in his arms. His little brother had his own tears in his eyes as he hugged back just as fiercely.
The dragons sensed the brothers strong emotions and scurried over to chirp up at their masters. The two pulled apart only for Ramen to crawl up Hanzo and nuzzle his face, Soba and Udon doing the same to Genji. The family stayed like that for a few minutes as they laughed and pet the little noodles until there was a knock at the door.
"Hey old man. You ready?" Hana poked her head in the room and smiled at the sight in front of her. The dragons chirped excitedly and ran over to greet her.
"Yes," Hanzo stood and looped his arm with Genji's. "Let us go."

Cole Cassidy was, to put it lightly, on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
The man has spent weeks, even months at time, separated from his dragon. It's just the way the job works. Sure, Cassidy never feels safer than when Hanzo is the one watching his back. And a mission never quite feels right if his darling isn't there to flirt with over the comms (something the gunslinger knows he secretly loves). The nights apart were always the hardest for the cowboy to bear. His perfect grumpy dragon always knew how to chase the nightmares away. Always there with a strong hug and gentle words. Cassidy hated being apart from the love of his life for long.
All of that seems like nothing, however, compared to how bad he needs to see his honey-pie right now.
"Habibi, you need to relax." Ana grabbed Cassidy's wrists to stop him from fiddling with his bolo tie for the umpteenth time.
"I know, I know," the gunslinger sighed as held Ana's hands back. "I just never thought this would happen to me. Didn't think anybody would give a dirty ol' cowboy like me a chance, much less the most gorgeous man alive."
"Of course he would. You are a good man Cole, Hanzo saw that. You mean the world to him."
"Yea," Cassidy breathed as a he gave a shy smile. "He means the world to me too."
"You've come a long way from the bitter teenager we pulled out of the desert," the former captain laughed as she cupped the cowboys cheek with her hand. "I am so proud of you."
"Thank you ma. I'm glad you came back to us." Cole near sobbed as he spoke and leaned in to kiss Ana's forehead. As he pulled back, a knock sounded at the door.
"Hey cowboy," Fareeha called as she entered the room. "You ready to do this?"
"Ready as I'll ever be." Cassidy smiled as he pulled his found family into a hug before leaving with Ana on his arm.

The sunsets were always beautiful in Gibraltar during the summer. The orange hues lit the cliffside up in an earthereal glow as the group of agents made their way to their seats. The chairs were set up in the middle with two diagonal aisles on the outskirts. This way, the two groom could meet each other in the middle. Zenyatta waited patiently under the archway.
Soon enough, Lucio got the signal to start the soft instrumentals and everyone got quiet. Hana and Fareeha went down the isles first, dramatically tossing flowers as they went. The rest laughed fondly as the two women took their seats in the front.
After a brief pause, the men of the hour made their way down. Genji was escorting Hanzo with tears running down his face, and Ana was escorting Cassidy wearing a proud smile the whole time. Meanwhile, both archer and gunslinger looked as if neither of them could believe this was truly happening. As the two met in the middle, Genji and Ana taking their seats, the smiles they gave each other would put the sun to shame.
Here were two men, both victims of cruel upbringings and impossible challenges, coming together as one after so many years of loneliness. All that time was worth it though, for it led them to each other.
