I kinda changed the timing of some things (and added extra stuff), so it’s not identical to the one you made, sorry if it confuses you🫶
Also, some of my own headcanons are mixed into this.

(I'm really bad at time management and english so please be patient with this fic and correct any spelling errors you see tysm)

Chapter 1: A light too bright

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Before the eclipse, there was only us.

Hand in hand, as we traversed the paths of the universe.

The same paths you had walked with the moon…

But even the moon still wanes after an eclipse.

The eclipse you couldn’t control.

Your light was bound once, let me bind it again.

“He’s awake.”

What-

“Heart rate is returning to normal. Continue the oxygen flow.”

happened?

“See if he responds.”

A figure shone a bright light into my eyes. No wait. My eye.

I tried reaching for the person’s arm, but to no avail. Turn that damn light off please, I mumbled, or tried to.

“He’s responding.”

“Good. Get the lady in.”

Even after the flash of light was turned off, my eye still squinted at the brightness of the room and the people in it.

Where was this?

Ugh damn all that, I just want to sleep. Turn off those damn lights.

“How long had passed after the accident when you found him?”

Accident? Found me?

Me?

Who was that? Who is that?

I don’t recall…anything.

“The signs point towards, well…”

“Well, what?”

The doctor gazed at me, he looked sorry, like always.

“The head injury.”

The doctor paused and glanced back at the lady sitting across him. I was laid on a bed between them, but they talked as if I wasn’t there. Oh well…Not that I’d care anyway.

“It’s a severe case and it has unfortunately resulted in permanent amnesia. We have run tests, asked questions, but Blade here doesn’t seem to recall anything.”

Blade? Is that me?

“Nothing at all?”

“Nothing, not even his own name as you know already.”

“I see.”

“We’ve gone through his papers, and he doesn’t seem to have any caretakers.”

The two sat silent after that. I didn’t really know what they were talking about. I was tired. So tired and confused. I’ve been stuck at this damn hospital for so long. And this random lady visits me occasionally. I don’t know who she is, but then again, I don’t even know who I am, or who I used to be.

Who was I back then? What happened to me?

Time passes

“Silver, are you done yet?” Blade crossed his arms. He’d been waiting for Silverwolf to get a damn plushie at the claw machine.

Silver let out a groan of frustration. The claw didn’t close properly around the plushie, again.

“No! Not yet!”

Blade sighed. “Hurry it up, will you? Kafka will actually get mad at me…”

“Blah blah, just send her a text.” The girl waved it off, resuming her intense plushie clawing.

“Damn kids.” Blade mumbled. He took out his phone and sent a text to Kafka.

‘She wants one of those plushies again, so we’ll be coming home a little late.’

It didn’t take long for Kafka to reply.

‘Aha, of course. She’s always loved those claw machines. How’s it going so far?’

Blade looked up and quickly glanced at the girl.

‘She’s steering the claw.’

He glanced again.

‘The claw is going down.’

“Yes! Finally!” The girl exclaimed, fishing out her hard-won plushie from the machine. Blade felt the corner of his lip curve upwards at her reaction.

‘She got it.’

‘Wonderful! Which animal did she get this time?’

“Oi Silver, what animal is it?”

“It’s an owl dumbass, can’t you see that? Oh wait, I forgot half your vision is blocked.” Silverwolf snickered, prancing out the building.

“Tch, kids these days.” He rolled his eyes, although he was a little proud of her cussing.

‘She got an owl.’

‘How cute, now come home before it starts to rain. ‘

Wouldn’t want to catch a cold~’

He took a glance at his clothes. He seemed pretty covered up with a high collar trench coat, beanie and of course sunglasses, for rainy weather.

As he stepped out, rain had already started to fall. No matter, at least for him. Silverwolf however clung to herself in attempt to keep herself warm.

“You’re so careless, y’know that?” Blade took off his coat and offered it to Silver. “That’s what I have a big brother for~” She smirked, putting on the coat that was noticeably way too big for her.

As soon as they entered the apartment, Silverwolf threw off the coat and scurried into her room. Blade sighed in disappointment, before walking into his own room.

He laid himself down on the bed and checked his phone.

He went through his social media, as there was nothing else that seemed more interesting. He scrolled through the hundreds of posts made by people, many of them were from the college he was gonna enter after break. Their posts weren't interesting though.

His thoughts wandered off, still scrolling like some automated robot.

Much time had passed since ‘the accident’.

The eclipse, as Kafka would say. She’d always treated it like something poetic, like it was an ancient and mystical tragedy.

Tch, all that really happened was me getting into an accident. Of course, my head got injured and Kafka just so happened to find me.

After the awful time at the hospital, she told me about my case. I had lost my memories.

I didn’t know what to feel when I heard her say that. I still don’t know what to feel, but after being let go by the nightmare hospital I’ve started to remember things.

Subtle things. Very subtle things.

These things are blurred, as if they have really bad resolutions. Which they do, but I still try hard to remember what or who it is that keeps popping up.

These thoughts were nothing special to Blade, just some blurred memories and complaints, they came at random times when he was in silence.

He scrolled and scrolled, as if he was run by a computer program. That was until he scrolled past a specific post. A profile picture post.

He snapped out of his mechanized daze and scrolled back. His eyes widened at the sight.

“Is that…”

Blade swore he’d seen that face before. Somewhere.

He looked at the username. ‘danheng’ it read.

“Dan Heng…” He repeated, trying to remember where he’d heard something familiar.

It came back to him when he studied the profile picture a little more. The colors, the facial expression, the shapes, it lined up.

“It’s you.”

He sat up in his bed. The low-resolution memories came back. So did the voice, his voice, his past self's voice.

“Dan Feng.” An old feeling of fondness had returned.

Thus, the new moon begins to wax.

Notes:
