"We're the last people left in the theater after a terrible movie and you're crying, but the movie wasn't sad."

Work Text:

16-year-old Timmy sat next to 17-year-old Jimmy in the movie theaters. He could usually handle sitting still or paying attention if they were seeing a good movie, and they had thought that's what they were seeing. After looking at an advertisement for a cheap looking horror movie they thought they'd go together, thinking if it was bad it could still be good, just in a more funny way.

It wasn't. It wasn't scary or funny, it was just plain bad. They couldn't put their finger on why, and they honestly didn't want to pay attention long enough to figure it out. The sound of multiple theater chairs snapping up and the sound of loud complaining brought Timmy back from daydream land, and she stretched her arms.

“That was… something. You ready to go, babe?” Timmy asked, cracking his back, and was about to stand, until he realized his partner hadn’t replied. Looking over, Timmys is concerned to see Jimmy crying. “Jim? You good?”

“What the fucking hell what that movie?!” Jimmy exclaimed, and Timmy wished she had paid just a little more attention to know why Jimmy was acting like this. “They brought so many elements into it and then just dropped them! They mentioned the antagonist being a ghost, then it turned into an intruder, then their imagination, what the fuck was the plot! It doesn't make sense.” He turned to his partner for the last part to shake the others shoulders.

“Woah, woah, it was just a movie. A bad movie, but just a movie.” Jimmy's expression did not change, and Timmy knew his brain was still working overtime to make sense of a movie that didn't have sense. With a sigh, he continued. “Look, there's a sci-fi movie they're playing here too.You wanna see if we can catch that?”

Jimmy sighed, wiping the annoyed tears from his face. “Sure, but if it makes even less sense then whatever this was, I’m gonna go insane.”

Timmy giggled. “Don't worry, Chester forced me to see it when it came out. It's pretty good.”

Not giving his boyfriend another chance to argue or ramble, Timmy grabbed Jimmy's hand and left the room.
