Rebecca lay asleep, curled up in the corner of Sam Obisanya's sofa, snuggled up in a blanket. She and Simi had just binged countless episodes of Sex And The City. Just two days ago, they were all dressed up for Rebecca's father's funeral, and she was feeling conflicted to say the least. But this was the first time she'd fallen properly, properly asleep, and the couple could tell.
'Should I call her driver?' Sam asked.
'Call Ted.' Simi said, matter of factly.

Hanging up, Ted grabbed a cloth shopping bag from under the kitchen island. He picked up a fuzzy blanket from the sofa, a small pillow, a water bottle, and Rebecca's olive green stuffed bunny, Flopsie. It was late and a thirty five minute drive to Sam's, so Ted figured she'd probably fall asleep on the way home, or at least she'd be able to get comfy and cozy.
#
Ted knelt by the sofa, softly stroking Rebecca's arm.
'Becca?'
Stirring, she reached out to touch Ted. She clutched at his top.
'Hey honey-bunch. How are ya feeling?' His accent soothed her out of her nap. 'Tired, hmm? Shall we go home?'
Rebecca nodded.
'Yeah, let's go home, darling.' He helped her stand, letting her lean into his side, holding her close.
'Thanks Sam, much appreciated.'
'Thank you.' Rebecca whispered vaguely.
'Anytime.' He smiled warmly.
'Oh and if Simi ever wants to fall asleep on our couch, all snug as a bug in a rug, she's more than welcome to it. Actually, that goes for any of y'all.'
'Thanks Coach. See you Monday at training?'
'Monday it is. Night, Sam.'
'Goodnight.'
#
Locking the door behind the couple, Sam asked, 'How did you know they were together?'
'Everyone knows, babe.' Simi rubbed his shoulder and kissed his cheek. 'Bed?'
'Bed.'

Walking up to Ted's car, he had somewhat gotten used to Rebecca being taller or a similar height as him. He wasn't used to her walking slumped against him, heels in her bag and mauve crocs on. One arm wrapped around her waist, the other held her coat and handbag. Unlocking his car, he placed her things in the back, and opened the passenger door for her. She didn't move to get in.
'Becca? We gotta scoot home, love.' He brushed some stray hair away from her face, and she rubbed her cheek against his shoulder.
'I just need you to hold me for a minute, please?'
'Of course.' He held open his arms, quickly finding a comfortable arrangement, combing through her hair with his fingers. Kissing the side of her head, he whispered; 'I'll hold you forever, baby.'
She squeezed him a little tighter before letting go and slipping into the seat.
