From Which Lies Are Born

Summary:

With help, Nagisa Shiota grew to become a very respected assassin. Now two years after graduation, he is sent on a difficult task. One that could take years to finish. Not only that, but Nagisa would be leaving Japan and heading towards Paris, France. He has to once again enter high school as someone he is not, a young girl by the name of Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

The target is Famous Fashion Designer Gabriel Agreste.

Or, Marinette Dupain-Cheng does not exist. Nagisa Shiota becomes her to kill Gabriel Agreste.

Chapter 1: The beginning

Chapter Text

"Oh boy."

He gazed down at the task in front of him in awe. He idly wondered how he got to this point.

It was two years after graduation. Two years since he decided to take what he learned and became an assassin.

Nagisa spent a good few years building up a reputation for himself, starting a bit before school even ended with guidance from Korosensei and Mrs. Bitch. He must have done better than he first thought, as he had been commissioned a gigantic amount for a rather specific task. Although, by how long this mission was going to take and the amount of detail that was taken into it, the price managed to seem pretty reasonable. This person had humongous connections, which is why Nagisa would be allowed to attend high school once again.

The man talked about having "useless owl dirt," "being the sole reason he's still in office with how much he sucks," or something along those lines. Nagisa wasn't sure if he was supposed to hear that. Unfortunately, he would have to move from Japan to France and live with complete strangers. This included taking on an entirely different identity and persona. Not only this, but his target was a very famous designer and his son was a very much loved model.

And what was his name? None other than Gabriel Agreste.

But Nagisa couldn't refuse. The colossal amount was enough for the rest of his life, above even what Koro-sensei's bounty had been, in total. Speaking of which, still hadn't run out and wouldn't until a good 10 or so years. But really, how long could his life end up being with a job as risky as assassination?

Nagisa shook himself out of his thoughts and quickly began making preparations for the long trip. The person said they would send him his own private jet in order to get to France, which seemed a bit extra, but he wasn't complaining. What he would complain about–only mentally of course–was the very short notice and that the flight was in three hours.

The mission was perfect for him though. Much to his dismay, he still looked like a teenage girl, even two years after graduation. But that would show to be crucial in this situation. He had an assigned name already: Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a seventeen-year-old girl with a knack for design. 'She's' sweet but feisty when it comes to protecting friends. She's terribly clumsy yet a terrific cook since her parents are the best bakers in Paris. She’s spent her first years of life living with her grandparents abroad and is now coming back to France for her final year. Nagisa will have a month to perfect this persona and learn the proper skills without anyone knowing where or who he is. And truly, Nagisa has worked a perfect job in less than a week. This should be a cakewalk. Plus he gets to polish his French.

Sighing, he finished packing what he assumed he needed and sat down. The next few years would be focused on one sole task, which wasn't something he'd ever done before. There were some extreme risks with this mission, not only with the severe length and the need for an alternate identity. Agreste is an extremely well-known person in the fashion design field; that was the whole reason Marinette—Nagisa—needed to be so interested in fashion. The baker thing was a result of there only being one family in the area closest to the school that were of Asian descent as well as not looking too unlike him.

The reason he had to go to high school was because of Adrien Agreste; the son of Gabriel Agreste. The main goal of everything was to become friends with him to get insight on the older Agreste and get an advantage in a possible fashion showcase. The fashion showcase of course to get closer to Agreste. After he was done he would stay only a little longer then leave under the guise of someone who feared for their life as someone close to the older man. The only reason this couldn't be a swift in and out job was because of how much protection the man had on him, not even the best of the best would be able to get through those walls without being caught. Again, the mission was expected to take at the very least a year, but it would be worth it in the end.

Looking back at the bare walls of his home, he wished it goodbye. Bills would be taken care of by the client. Not for the first time, he wondered where all the man’s money had come from.

He wouldn’t be back in Japan for a long time, and he wasn’t going to tell anyone about it. It would be difficult, considering his old class was still tightly knit together, but he was dependable. He could keep things under wraps. It would be suspicious that he was never able to hang out anymore, him having the most free time out of everyone. But they understood some things were not to be discussed.

With a final look through, he exited the house. Left behind were the final remnants that proved Nagisa Shiota ever existed.
