Kaz's little black diary

Summary:

A thin black leather book with the words 'Dagboek 1897' in gilt letters on the front. When examined closely, an embossed crow in flight can be seen on the back cover.

-------------------

Several years after the events of Six of Crows, Inej gifts Kaz a little black diary. This is what he writes.

Notes:

Ok. Hear me out. What if it was as fashionable in Kerch in whatever century they're in to write a diary as it was in our 19th century? What would Kaz's look like?

This 100% takes full inspiration from a set of diaries written between 189-something and 1931 by a Captain Lewis that are currently residing in the National Library of Wales (I have weird hobbies). They are as dry, if not even more than what Kaz 'wrote' here. I promise you.

See endnotes for a little more detail on how I chose the date for this diary.

Yours in slightly questionable fic premises,

Chapter 1: Beginning/maart

Chapter Text

A thin black leather book with the words 'Dagboek 1897' in gilt letters on the front. When examined closely, an embossed crow in flight can be seen on the back cover.

Inscription on inside leaf:

My dear Kaz,
You were complaining that you had too many meetings to remember (not that I believe that for one chime you genius), so when I saw this at the stationers in Belendt, I thought of you. I did personalise it a little, I knew you wouldn't mind. Be home in a few weeks,
Yours, Inej
