Summary
They sneak into Inazuma City proper, pink still dusting their cheeks. It’s not really sneaking, they’re far from recognizable, but Childe still feels a sense of unease. The city is crawling with Fatui, and if someone’s gaze were to linger just a little too long, they might see a sliver of who the two men were before, and the illusion would shatter.
The sun is beginning to set. Childe’s thoughts stray to the next morning, and the thought of turning the other man in makes his stomach turn. A bit of panic seizes his chest and it’s like Scaramouche can sense it, because he wraps his fingers around Childe’s wrist and draws little circles with his thumb before taking his hand and giving it a short squeeze.
Electricity dances between their fingertips.
Wherein: Childe is sent to Inazuma to track down the Balladeer, retrieve the stolen gnosis, and bring Her Majesty’s traitor to his knees.
