He tapped his servos on his thigh and sighed in annoyance for what felt like the 10th time. He was currently waiting for Sari to come into the office from ‘detention’ to talk about an issue. The school called Optimus about Sari getting into a fight, and while Optimus was ready to go, Bumblebee was seeing red. His Sari? Got in a fight? What monstrous, slag-headed kid would DARE to fight Sari? So before Optimus could even transform, Bumblebee was burning rubber, getting to the school in record time as if Sari was still in a fight and every second counted.
When he got there, he was ushered into an office that he had to duck and crawl to get to. Thankfully, humans love those high-hanging ceilings otherwise Bumblebee would have to be hunched over the whole time. Eventually the principal came back into the office with Sari and some other kid next to him.
“So, Based on contact information, I understand you are Sari’s mother?” Bumblebee didn't know what that meant, but Sari looked as annoyed as he was impatient and he thought it best to just agree and ask questions later, “Uh yes, I am Sari’s mother. That's me! Sari’s... Mother.” Good job, Bee, very convincing!
“And this is an adoptive relationship or..?” Now they were just making up words
“What does that mean?”
“Well, did you... come across Sari organically or did you have to… find her?” Bumblebee thought about how he met Sari, and he didn't really find her, she was just there. So, ever the honest autobot he chose the option that made sense to him
“Oh yes, Sari came into our lives organically.” He was confused by the reactions he received. An incredulous look from the Principal and he could hear Sari stifling chuckles behind her hands. Before he could ask about it though, the Principal cleared his throat, “Well, mom, I called you in here today because Sari got in an altercation with a student here.” Bumblebee raised an eye ridge “You said this over the call already, remember?”
“Well, yes but,” The principal paused for a moment, “The student in question is named Mark. Mark allegedly pushed Sari and called her a mean name,”
“What did he call her?” Bumblebee asked, trying to remain calm after receiving the information that SARI had been attacked and offended.
“He called her dumb, now ma’am we don’t tolerate bullying at the school, but Sari’s methods were extremely violent. When Mark went to push her again, Sari thought it appropriate to punch the kid in the face. This is very concerning to us as Sari is not one to show such aggression. Mark’s mother is not happy and we wan’t to consult you in this and think of an appropriate repercussion for Sari other than the week’s detention.” The poor principal, unaware of the storm he unleashed with his recap on the events that transpired sealed his fate when he mentioned that Sari needed to be punished further.
“Hold on a klik, Sari was pushed and bullied and when she stood up for herself SHE gets punished? This little ‘Mark’ twerp better be getting 3 weeks detention for this!” Bumblebee gestured over to the other kid, Mark, with a huff.
“Well, actually Mark is just going to be sent home for the rest of the day, all he did was push a kid and say something mean. Kids do that all the time, the problem is when Sari punched the kid.”
“So you would rather her just let herself get picked on and harassed?” Bumblebee crossed his arms, his temper was rising and a small sympathetic part of his processor was prepared to feel bad for when he lost it.
“No, I am just saying that-“
“I heard what you’re saying, I feel that Sari should get no punishment. I want this Mark kid to be detentioned! He started it and he couldn’t handle Sari fighting back, I don’t understand the issue.”
“There are better ways to defend yourself, Miss uh… Bumblebee”
“Oh are there? I’ll keep that in mind next time i’m fighting decepticons then.”
“I don’t think you understand the situation, this is a school, Sari can’t punch kids because they pick on her.” Bumblebee not understand? He literally has instant access to all information in the entire Cybertronian explored galaxy. The gall on this guy is impressive and insulting.
“With all due respect, which is none by the way, I am quite certain my augmented processor is more capable of understanding and using information than your organic human brains.” He could feel his emotions rising up his vocal modulator and braced his body for the burst of tension he would release, or in other words; Bumblebee was about to throw the infamous ‘Bitch Fit’ he saw in that one human movie,
“The kid laid his hands on Sari first , therefore any actions takes from Sari to defend herself is not reprehensible, especially if all she did was punch the kid, she didn’t even punch him hard enough to bruise, all it was was a deterrent and an effective one at that. The kid has no visible damage other than his cry baby tear stained cheeks. You know what that information means? It means that the strike stung at worst. His crying was from shock, much like a human sparkling- infant i believe.” Bumblebee clenched his hands and tried to stop his frame from shaking with excitement as his temper boiled, “I will put this into perspective for you Principal whatever your name is-“
“It’s actually Principal Johnson-“
“- Whatever your name is, my job is protecting this city and its surrounding area from decepticon attack. You took me from my job protecting the city, accused Sari of being violent, and then refused to even punish the kid responsible? This is not only a waste of time and city resources it’s downright disrespectful to the service I so helpfully provide your facility. Don’t you dare talk to me about preventing violence, when I do it every day, all day for you. You know, like last week? When Starscream flew by guns blazing and missiles firing, who took a missile to the arm to prevent it from hitting your school and blowing it up? I’ll give you a hint, it wasn’t Mark’s mom.” Bumblebee stood up as much as he could, “Unless you want to rely only on Mark and his mom to prevent violence in your school, you will put Mark in detention with Sari for just as long if not longer, and I will not hear about the ‘further repercussions’ or whatever you called it.” He ended it with a challenging glare that was not met, Principal Johnson looked away from Bumblebee’s optics, giving Bee the rare feeling of an upper hand.
“Of course, ma’am. I will let his mother know right away that both he and Sari will receive a week long detention, and he will be sent home early today.”
“Good.” With that, Bumblebee awkwardly made his way outside of the school, aware of Sari trailing behind him, it was after school after all. Detention didn’t start yet did it? If it did no one told him or Sari as they left the building.
“You couldn’t have talked him out of giving me detention, Bee?” Sari whined as Bumblebee transformed and opened his passenger door,
“Sorry Sari, but you did hit the kid. And yeah, it’s not fair if he doesn’t get punished for hitting you, but it’s also unfair if you don’t get punished for hitting him back. We both know you didn’t NEED to punch him in the face, you just wanted to.” Sari looked away, proving to Bumblebee that he assumed accurately, “Next time, just push him back, then MAYBE you won’t receive detention.”
“Whatever you say, Mom .” Sari replied teasingly, though Bumbkebee didn’t respond to it, not really understanding what it meant
Bumblebee drove back to base. He had to admit he was quite pleased with himself, though he knew Prime would be less than thrilled to hear that he threatened a human, he still felt pretty darn responsible and adult-y right now.
Though he was still a little confused, “What does it mean to ‘have you organically’? What’s adoption?” He asked confused, but immediately felt embarrassed when Sari burst into uncontrollable laughter
“What?! What did I say? What does it mean?!” Bee asked his faceplates blazing from wherever they hid in his alt mode.
“I’ll tell you when we get home, Bee.” Sari promised patting Bee’s side window like a patronizing pat on the back
“It better not be gross.” He replied warningly despite his processor telling him if it makes Sari laugh like that , it probably was.
