Work Text:
the clock strikes midnight.
you fearfully watch it,
hoping,
for the hands to move.
they dont.
slowly, you turn
to face
me.
my eyes are glazed and staring,
staring,
at that clock,
as the stars fall.
the unmoving clock.
you whisper my name
but i dont hear.
you try again, louder, your voice
cracking
as i dont respond.
and i watch but dont see
as your hand stretches out
to touch me.
but it is stopped.
and you lean your forehead
on the wall,
the indestructible wall
that now stands between us.
and you cry,
silent tears as your eyes slip shut.
the stars put themselves back in their spots,
and you hear a
tick
from the clock behind you.
you open your eyes.
im not there.
the clock tick, tick, ticks without a care.
