“Nee-chan…I’m not sure about this. Why do I have to do this?”
“Shhh! Luca, come on, sit straight! We’ve gotta make a good impression!”
Luca scoffed at Enna, his sister having brought him out here even though she was the one meeting with a friend. Why did she want him to be here to make a good impression? His one and only sister, who was always sarcastic and scathing to everyone, wanted to make a good impression on this person? What, did she have a crush on them or something? Going so far as to invite them out for a meal.
Enna grinned at Luca, knowing that although he acted as if he was opposed to doing this, he was still supportive of her, allowing himself to be dragged here against his will.
“Wellll, Petra told me her brother might be coming along too, so why not drag mine along with me too? It’s only fair, and who knows? You might make a new friend today, hm? You guys are even the same age, apparently.” Enna spoke with a teasing tone, knowing how her brother could be shy in front of strangers which made it hard to make friends sometimes.
“What? That doesn’t mean we’re gonna be friends, you know.”
“Yeah, yeah, just give it a try!”
Luca continued to grumble as the ring of the bell alerted them to other people entering the shop. A small girl wearing a hoodie with a penguin motif and a taller guy walked in, the taller of the two holding their bags as the girl seemed slightly flustered for some reason.
“Ohmigosh Shu, I can’t believe that just happened!” the girl was speaking animatedly, gesturing wildly with her hands while the other person was calm.
“Yeah, good thing I was there, I guess.” he smiled softly, not breaking a sweat even while holding multiple bags.
“Petra!” his sister suddenly called out to them.
“Enna!” the girl who had been speaking exclaimed in return, running to give Enna a hug. The other boy followed, the duo making their way over to their table. While his sister and her friend hugged and exchanged greetings, things were silent on the other end. To be exact, Luca was having his first awakening.
“Hi! You must be Enna-neesan’s little brother! I’m Shu, sorry for tagging along like this, but I just so happened to be free today and Petra insisted on bringing me along.” the cute boy-no Shu spoke, giving Luca a shy smile.
“U-U-UH…” Luca intelligently responded.
As the other three settled down around the table, Enna gave him a smack on the back.
“Come on, introduce yourself! What’s wrong?”
“H-Hi…” Luca mustered up all the courage he had in his body, “I’m Luca. Nice to meet you guys…uh, yeah.”
Enna rolled her eyes, introducing Luca in his stead (out of love), “This is Luca, my kid brother, I think he and Shu are the same age so I hope you guys can get along!”
“Aw! He’s so cute, kind of like a golden retriever!”
Luca flushed as Petra continued talking with Enna, getting excited before-
*thunk* Her elbow accidentally hit her cup of water sitting on the table. It wobbled, just on the verge of tipping over when-
“Woop!” Shu grabbed the cup at the speed of light, saving it from falling and potentially drenching someone, “That was close.” Petra’s sleeve was splashed, but only slightly.
“Shuuuu~” Petra breathed a sigh of relief, as if she’s used to this sort of thing happening. Shu smiled in return, opening his little sling bag and bringing out a pack of tissues and…a hair tie? Luca understood the use for the tissues but why the hair tie?
“No problem, neesan.” Shu just responded with a gentle smile, handing over the tissues so Petra could pat her sleeve dry. He hands over the hair tie next.
“We’re gonna be eating in a bit too, so here. For you to tie your hair.” Petra said thanks again before tying up her hair.
“Damn!” Enna looked over at Luca, “See this? Why can’t you be like this too, huh? Petra, how did you get such a good little brother while I got stuck with this guy…”
“Ha! My Shu is the best little brother ever! Alllll thanks to me of course!”
“Yeah, yeah, you mean because of how clumsy you are?”
“Enna!!”
The group continued their small talks before the waiter arrived with their food. Throughout the lunch, Luca and Shu were able to make some conversation, asking each other about hobbies and such while their sisters talked about their own things. It turned out that Luca and Shu had a lot more in common than he had thought. Shu also loved playing video games, and they both liked singing as well.
Both older sisters looked fondly on their little brothers that were chatting up a storm next to them, making eye contact and giggling when they realised what was happening. Luca’s cheeks were definitely flushed when talking to Shu, and while Shu didn’t realise it, he was subconsciously staring at Luca whenever he thought no one was looking.
At the end of the meal, it was time for both pairs to go on their way, the boys looking especially sad to part.
“H-Hey Shu,” Luca froze as Shu turned to look at him, “Would you ever…um…want to hangout or something?”
Shu’s expression brightened at the question, “Oh! That sounds great! Yeah, we should definitely hang out sometime! We should go to the arcade or something soon!”
“Could you, uh, give me your number…then?” Luca was bashful, but still managed to ask properly.
It was Shu’s turn to flush red all the way to the tips of his ears, “M-My number? Um, y-yeah, of course…” Looking down to try and hide his face, he couldn’t see how the illusion of a tail popping up behind Luca could almost be seen with how happy he was.
Enna and Petra looked at their cute little brothers, whispering to each other excitedly about the relationship they might have just helped start.
