Work Text:

Hobie and Miles stood on the rooftop, overlooking the city as it buzzed with excitement and anticipation. The air was filled with a mixture of laughter, cheers, and the distant sound of fireworks. It was New Year's Eve, a time when the world collectively held its breath, ready to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new.

Miles shivered slightly, the winter chill nipping at his exposed skin. Hobie noticed and wrapped an arm around him, pulling him close. Miles leaned into the embrace, digging himself in Hobie's warmth. They both knew they were on the precipice of something special, and the energy between them crackled like electricity.

The countdown began, and the crowd's voices rose in unison. "Ten... nine... eight..." The numbers echoed through the night, a tangible anticipation building with each passing second. Hobie's gaze never left Miles, his eyes reflecting the fireworks' kaleidoscope of colors.

"Seven... six... five..." Miles couldn't help but smile, his heart pounding in his chest. He felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness, knowing that this moment held the potential to change everything.

"Four... three... two..." The crowd's voices grew louder, their anticipation reaching its peak. Miles could feel the tension in the air, the world holding its breath.

"One! Happy New Year!"

The sound of cheers and fireworks filled the night sky as the clock struck midnight. In that moment, time seemed to stand still. Hobie leaned in, his lips gently meeting Miles'. It was a kiss that carried the weight of their shared experiences, their hopes, and their dreams for the future.

The world around them seemed to fade away as they lost themselves in the embrace. Their lips moved in perfect harmony, a dance of love and longing. It was a kiss that spoke volumes, conveying all the unspoken words and emotions that had been building up between them.

As the fireworks continued to light up the sky, they broke the kiss, their foreheads resting against each other. Miles could see his own reflection in Hobie's eyes, a reflection of love and possibility.

"Happy New Year, Miles," Hobie whispered, his voice filled with tenderness.

Miles smiled, his heart overflowing with joy. "Happy New Year, Hobie."
