Lance couldn’t even remember how the argument had started and if he was entirely honest, he wasn’t even sure what they were arguing about. One minute, Seb was talking about Mick and then the next minute, he was talking about Esteban. Lance couldn’t help but wonder if this had been building and Seb had just snapped all of a sudden. He couldn’t keep up with his boyfriend and he couldn’t get a word in so there was no opportunity for him to say anything. He had never seen his boyfriend snap like that. The Canadian figured it had something to do with the fact that he had been spending so much time with Esteban but he couldn’t be sure. Why Mick was getting brought into the conversation, he had no idea. It did annoy Lance to an extent that Seb hadn’t mentioned anything before with regards to whether he was annoyed with his boyfriend spending time with Esteban. Lance thought that Seb liked Esteban but now he wondered if he was jealous.
“Seb, can you just calm down a little bit?” Asked Lance.
The German stared at his boyfriend and Lance immediately knew that he had made a mistake.
“No, I will not calm down.”
“I don’t even know why you’re so annoyed right now, can we just talk like adults?”
Seb stood with his hands on his hips.
“If we were adults then you should’ve grown up a long time ago. Have you seen your moves on the track? There’s no excuse to drive like that.”
Lance didn’t know why that had upset him but he wasn’t going to take a comment like that, especially from his boyfriend. Before Seb could say anything else, Lance stormed down the hallway as he left the kitchen. He grabbed his jacket and car key before he made his way towards the front door and slammed it shut. He rushed over to his car and jumped in before Seb could race after him. The only place he wanted to be was with Esteban so he headed straight for Esteban's house. As he drove to see his friend, he couldn’t help but check in the mirror to see if Seb was following him. Once he was sure that the German wasn’t around, he relaxed a little.
The Canadian eventually turned up at his friend’s house. For a moment, he wondered if he was doing the right thing in leaving Seb on his own but he was annoyed with him so it served him right. He stepped out of the car without calling or messaging his friend and made his way to the front door. He rang the bell and waited patiently for the Frenchman. The door opened and Esteban smiled when he saw Lance.
“Hi, mate.”
He didn’t seem too bothered by the surprise visit but Lance couldn’t hold back how upset he was and started to cry. Esteban looked concerned as he rushed towards his friend and pulled him into the house. The door closed behind them as Esteban wrapped his arms around Lance.
“Lance, what’s happened?”
Esteban couldn’t get a word out of his friend as the Canadian slumped into his arms as he continued to cry. Eventually, Lance managed to calm down enough to let Esteban drag him towards the living room. They both sat next to each other on the couch as Esteban kept an arm around his friend. The Frenchman passed a tissue over to Lance who blew his nose.
“Did Seb do this?”
Lance nodded after a moment and Esteban huffed.
“What’s his problem?”
“I don’t know, we were arguing and I don’t even remember what we were arguing about or how it started. He was so angry, Este, I don’t know what’s wrong with him. He was talking about you and at one point, he mentioned Mick.” Replied Lance.
Esteban frowned.
“Is he jealous?”
Lance shrugged.
“I don’t know but he has no reason to be jealous.”
“You should tell him that, I have done a few times.”
“You shouldn’t have to tell him to stop being jealous. If he’s jealous, then it sounds like he doesn’t trust you.”
“Everyone gets jealous though.”
“It’s not the first time we’ve had a discussion like this, is it?”
Lance sighed.
“We’ve been arguing a lot recently.”
“I think you need to talk properly and work out why you’re both arguing. It’s not healthy, Lance.”
“I know.”
Lance looked down at his lap and he was startled when Esteban cupped his cheek.
“Hey.”
The Canadian looked up at his friend.
“You always have me and if you ever want me to talk to him then you know I will.”
Lance smiled softly.
“Thank you.”
The two friends gazed into each other’s eyes for a moment and they appeared to lean in at the exact same time. They kissed and it wasn’t until Lance sighed into the kiss and tried to deepen it that Esteban pulled away.
“We can’t Lance.”
“Can I stay here for the night?”
Esteban looked ready to say no.
“Please, Este.”
“Fine, just for tonight.”
Esteban let go of Lance’s cheek and left the living room to prepare the spare room.
Neither of them mentioned the kiss for the rest of the night and when Lance later begged Esteban to let him sleep in the same bed, the Frenchman chose not to argue. They slept in Esteban’s room that night but nothing happened, they just slept.
The following morning, Lance was rather reluctant to leave and the point of slowly eating the breakfast that Esteban had put down in front of him. When he offered to help Esteban with the dishes, he was taking his time at drying the dishes. Esteban wasn’t stupid, he was sure that his friend was avoiding a certain someone and he couldn’t allow that to happen.
Lance was sitting in the living room making no effort to leave. Esteban leaned against the door and sighed quietly.
“You can’t stay here forever, you know.” Said Esteban.
“I would if I could.”
“What about Seb?”
Lance stayed quiet.
“You should go back to Seb.”
Lance looked as if he was going through his options in his mind before he eventually stood up and made his way towards the door. Esteban ran a hand over Lance’s arm when his friend stopped in front of him.
“Go and talk to Seb.” Murmured Esteban.
“Can I call you later?”
Esteban nodded and Lance looked hopeful. They said their goodbyes before Lance left the house and jumped into his car. He stared at his phone and he found multiple missed calls and unanswered messages from the German. That was the kick to go home because he knew that Seb would be worried about him.
When he finally made it back to Seb’s house, he cut the engine and stayed in the car. Should he tell Seb that he had kissed Esteban? Should he tell him that he stayed the night with Esteban? Seb wasn’t stupid, he would probably know that Lance had stayed with Esteban. The Canadian didn’t know what to do but he knew that he couldn’t sit around in his car all day.
